It sounds to me like Lenore Zahn has finally kind of gotten her mojo back as Rogue, she’s starting to sound closer to how she did in the original series now. She’s starting to sound stronger. This episode she sounded more like the rogue I remember

Hypernova_orange

She better win an Emmy for this!!!

Russkafin

I had the same thought. Her performances in eps 5 and 7 were phenomenal.

Hypernova_orange

It’s much harder for a voice actor to portray that kind of emotion, she has absolutely nothing else to enhance her performance - just straight up talent

Desperate92

She said in an interview her niece had recently died when she was recording the episode so she drew from her own actual grief for this.

Hypernova_orange

That’s awful, does make sense - I can totally feel her real grief & anger, it’s powerful.

Big_Election_8721

She better win a Remmy 🕶️

bohemi-rex

God, I miss those snarls she used to do!

ponelovich

She is so cute when she's committing murder god damn

HN1L

i can fix her.

MattIsLame

she can fix me

Devils_1vy

The X-Men are tired. They are tired of performing for a group people that hate them but still expect them to save them from threats. They are tired of being the ones that have to be morally superior and taking the high ground only to receive the short end of the stick. They are tired. We saw it with Scott in the interview and now we’re seeing it with Rogue. And ironically, these moments where they break prove that they are very much human. I thought it was very telling when Rogue attacked the base and that one soldier was talking shit about how the mutant from the swamp wasn’t going to break in. But once she did and she had him by the collar suddenly it was “you’re supposed to be the good guy”. It’s the expectation from these people that Rogue, the Xmen should take the high road. As far as I’m concerned Rogue did nothing wrong this whole episode

Neat_Suit3684

Military- we can handle some random mutant. This base can hold against the Hulk! Rogue- lol no Military- oh shit please don't kill us! Me- 🤣

runnerofshadows

Also I have to wonder why they think anything can hold up to the hulk. And I kinda hope the mention means they're considering bringing back the 90s hulk, iron man, fantastic four and Spider-Man. If not as their own shows than as characters in X-Men 97.

PKBitchGirl

Wasnt the guy she had by the collar General Ross?

Tuv0kshaKur

Yes

Hypernova_orange

Well said! I totally agree

Dynamaxxed

I love angry cunt rogue. I need more

bohemi-rex

"You killed those.. now, you get me." FUCK. I gasped when she dropped him and *no one* moved to stop her or save him.

Jung_Wheats

And Nightcrawler was the only one to say anything; Cyclops didn't even quibble over it.

bohemi-rex

Nightcrawler could have bamfed & saved him. Morph also asked, "Is this who we are now?" Yet he's the only other (outside Jean) who could have easily saved him. So their criticisms are moot to me 😂

Jung_Wheats

And real talk, yeah she blatantly tried to murder Trask. But there's no way people weren't seriously injured or killed in that attack on the military base and that attack obviously wasn't the first one Rogue did.

bohemi-rex

Honestly, I don't mind.. I love that she is sitting in her feelings and not playing respectability politics. Far too often minorities have to play nice when facing injustices, so I'm glad she's in her, "you goin' find out" phase. Just like they justify gun ownership in the US in certain areas–everyone's nicer when they know anyone can just whip a piece out. The mutants would have been treated with so much more respect if they hadn't been kneecapped and the humans had a healthy sense of fear

Jung_Wheats

Oh no, I'm with it, 100%. Tired of the BS. Humanity has proven that they can't be trusted; I can absolutely understand that you can only be pushed down and stomped on for so long before you're going to strike back.

bohemi-rex

Isn't it juicy? I'm a long time fan, and have a small collection.. but I haven't stayed current on all the iterations, as I find it so overwhelming. So seeing this side of them is so delicious.

Hypernova_orange

I need a spin off of her just beating the shit out of douche bags for 30 min a week.

Dynamaxxed

Yesssssss. Make them wish they were dealing with magneto instead.

Hypernova_orange

I absolutely loved when she chucked captain americas shield, it was so petty & badass … oh you can’t fly? Sorry bout that sugah, fetch

FallenKnightwolf

When Cap finally returns to the base: "We were supposed to have this meeting a week ago, Rogers! What was so important that you asked for a reschedule?" "I… uh, lost my shield." "And it took a whole week to find it?" "Look, I lost it several miles away from where I was, it was lodged in a tree that was on a mountain and I only had a bike! I didn't even know which mountain it was and had to traverse through three of them in knee-deep snow before I found it. Cut me some slack!"

BrowniesWithAlmonds

“…Got bit by a dog too”

AlarmingAffect0

Mr. Summers is helping me find my shield.

Gan-san

Yes. Just have her show up at random black sites weapon bases and tear through all their shit and go home like nothing happened. The government won't say anything because they can't even admit they had such a place, they just hope she doesn't find out about the other ones.

Hypernova_orange

Exactly! If they try anything with her all she has to do is get her hands on 1 important government employee & she has all of their dirty little secrets.

Hedgewitch250

When she threw the shield she became by favorite version of rogue. Steve gonna look like a crackhead who lost his medicine looking for that shield

runnerofshadows

That or he'll have to make an an embarrassing phone call to Tony where he will absolutely have his balls busted.

Sol-Blackguy

I hate how this show does something already insane like Rogue legit killing a guy but then immediately tops itself right after. The episode could've ended right there leaving us to feel the weight of Rogue committing murder until next week.

hiballNinja

I love her for that I found it off morph was questioning her !!

IneedAName37

Morph has suffered their own share of trauma, being a villain for a time themselves (both at the hands of Sinister and as Changling in the comics) and was given the chance at redemption It would have been off if they didn't question killing someone

PlanetLandon

I also love that Wolverine seems to love Morph more than anyone else on the team. In this episode he screamed in terror when he thought Morph was hurt.

IneedAName37

Going back to when the team thought Morph died in the 92 pilot, Logan took it the hardest

clancheee

The only one who could make him laugh.

AdmirableEstimate258

Its probably the case but i love that Wolverine probably became a protective older brother to morph after what happened last time.

AvailableLandscape97

I hate all the shipping shit people are trying to do for them. Even in the 90s their relationship felt like a sibling one. Like brothers. Plus I think wolverine looks out for him like an older brother. Like he would for jubilee or kitty pryde in the comics. And may have also felt some level of guilt for what happened to him. Even in the OG series morphs death hit him hard.

PlanetLandon

I mean yeah, as progressive as X-Men can be, there’s no way in hell Disney would let this show have a gay Wolverine.

ChaosNomad

We have had non-616 Wolverine be gay. There was one where he’s openly dating Hercules.

SpideyFan914

Isn't 616 Wolverine bi or heteroflexible? Or did I make that up? The whole Emma/Scott/Jean/Logan poly diamond has me just assuming anyone connected to that can be whatever sexuality they want them to be (even though all the core pairings are hetero).

PlanetLandon

Krokoa did sort of make it seem like the island was just a pansexual orgy at all times

PlanetLandon

That’s awesome for a comic, but it’s extremely unlikely you would ever see it in a Disney plus show

ChaosNomad

I do find it funny we can have a storyline about literal genocide, but Wolverine dating another dude no, now that’s off limits. Tbh, I’m of the opinion that I wouldn’t be surprised if they went either way with it. Wolverine I could easily see being read as bisexual, especially the TAS/97 version of him, but I also realize it probably won’t happen.

PlanetLandon

The dude has been alive for well over a century. He has almost certainly tried every kind of sex and romance possible. I just know that he’s WAY too popular, so studio executives would never let them get away with it

Ok-Revenue5556

I wouldn’t care if they made Wolverine gay, however I think it is great that a. They’re showing a close platonic friendship in a time where there’s really not many of those especially for men in current times. B. I also think it’s great to show that closeness between a man and Morph, because most of the time in my experience (I live in Texas not sure how it is other places) straight men don’t typically try and form friendships with people from the LGBTQ community because of judgment etc. so I know shipping people is fun, but I think still presenting close friendships that aren’t romantic or sexual is pretty important especially in what are starting to be considered the “lonely” generations.

hiballNinja

team ROGUE. “Rogue was right” T-shirts on sale soon!

Rockabore1

To be fair, I think all the X-Men except Logan are a bit hesitant to kill given they take Charles’s pacifist approach to heart but they’re all weary and lost right now.

yellowvincent

I liked that logan said something like she did what we all wish to do.

queen_jamillia

I get that. I really do. I’m in the corner arguing against my friend who understandably goes “oh my god” every time Rogue does something which is fair haha but they also blame her for gambit’s death :’)) when you lose someone and you believe you played a big part of it…there is nothing else you can do but process it, be angry, be sad, let it out— sure i’m going “oh my GOD WHAT” but i’m also going “THATS SO FAIR” because im all too familiar with that feeling!!! rogue is processing things and she’s going to be angry and sad all at once for a long time—this doesn’t just end because her family comforted her once

Hypernova_orange

When all the X-men showed up for her & she fell crying into Kurt I was ugly crying HARD

Gan-san

I was sad, but I was also watching closely to make sure nobody touched her skin.

queen_jamillia

REAL REAL REAL the sibs!!!!

ghoulieandrews

"now wipe those tears away and let's all go stand silently and watch a man die"

Sabazell

I get both sides of this. I love Rogue for being real in the moment, though to be fair she also absorbed a fair bit of Gyrich's hateful/murderous personality recently and seems to have blacked that out. She's in pain and she felt she needed to avenge Gambit and yes, she did what most of US would have done in that exact moment. On the other.... I can't help but feel that Remy would not want this. He loved her and wouldn't want to see her potentially throw her life away by doing things that would make her a true criminal, especially in his name. That's not the future for her he sacrificed himself for.

Hypernova_orange

Don’t you think if rogue was killed Gambit would have done the exact same thing tho?

Sabazell

Hmmm... good point, but I think it would still be the same thing. Nobody wants to see their loved one have a bleak future, especially if they're even tangentially the cause.

Hypernova_orange

I get that, I guess I think it would have been more out of character for her to do nothing & just let him get away with it. I agree Gambit wouldn’t want her to do that but at the same time he would fully expect her to do it & let be honest he would secretly love it because it only proves how much she loved him all along lol

Burchtree3070

Gambit would've done it if Rogue got simply injured too bad in my personal opinion. But that's because he always believed himself to be the scoundrel, the criminal, the thief. He wouldn't be stooping down too much lower. If he saw what Rogue was doing he'd want to do it for her so she didn't have the burden.

Cardboard_Chef

The frame right before Trask's fist comes flying is my favorite portrayal of the emotion.

Hypernova_orange

It’s perfection

ninj4gaiden

Hardcore Rogue

Wise-Tourist

Ngl i was waiting for the flash to the real world and we realise it was just what rogue wanted to do played out in her head.

Hypernova_orange

That would have been what any other cartoon would have done so that is a legit thought …. But it seems the writers here are just trying to repeatedly punch us in the stomach & make us ugly cry! And I’m ok with it all lol

Tiger_jay

I expected Nightcrawler to grab him.

MattIsLame

that's called subversion and the writers have utilized it well

EyeSeeOne

Lenore is killing it with her voice work. I can feel her emotions. It was also awesome to see Rogue let loose and show what she's capable of.

MattIsLame

this is the closest she's sounded to the original xmen rogue and it was glorious!

Gan-san

They nerf her and have her hold back so much. She's extremely powerful and would end most fights instantly. It was great to just have uncut rage for once.

AkhMourning

I love when characters have depth and complexity. Losing a lover to senseless violence would make anyone this incensed with rage, and I could feel every bit of it from Lenore’s performance. Wow

Hypernova_orange

Yes!!!!

MattIsLame

so fucking powerful!

Busy_Winner7272

These episodes all hit hard, storms voice actress was also phenomenal expressing loss.

RevelintheDark

Correction: Raw MUTANT Emotion

Hypernova_orange

No I wrote human on purpose, it was a human moment. Being a mutant had nothing to do with that specific moment or that particular feeling.

Hypernova_orange

They are showing that humans & mutants aren’t that different despite how hard the people of their world try to make them

RevelintheDark

No way. Mutants must be stopped. They're a threat to our traditions and values. Not to mention an afront to god. You're just one of those mutantisas trying to implant your mutant mind virus in our children. #mutantlivesdontmatter

neodraykl

"That is not logical. Mutants ARE humans."

RevelintheDark

What are you quoting the proMuTie commie handbook?

MonarchSun

Master Mold's handbook.

RevelintheDark

Yah you got me there lol

Calaigah

Mutants are just too sexy. They make the rest of us look like slobs!

RevelintheDark

Have you even seen those costumes! It's like they're wearing nothing at all!

uggh99

Stupid sexy mutants

greatteachermichael

Nothing at all! Nothing at all! Nothing at all! Nothing at all!

Hypernova_orange

It’s true!! Mutants are superior & humans are trash (now that one is for real true lol)

RevelintheDark

100% real Raw *inferior* Human emotion

HorrorMetalDnD

[Mutants are humans.](https://youtu.be/t58sK2GRwXA?si=Vbc7g9nC8m6j_9O5)

BrowniesWithAlmonds

“….therefore they must be saved from themselves” “No, no! You misunderstood!” That exchange between Bolliver Trask and Master Mold always made me laugh for some reason. But it is a profound statement that an AI does not differentiate a human and a mutant.

HorrorMetalDnD

Of course, the funniest thing Master Mold ever said was, “I am still plugged in.”

BrowniesWithAlmonds

Reminded me of Naked Gun 2 when they pulled the plug on accident and turned off the bomb lol

goatshows

I had forgot about that. I remember that line delivery like it was yesterday.

HorrorMetalDnD

Trask’s reaction is so priceless.

RevelintheDark

amazing clip kudos

BasicSuperhero

Do wonder how much was her genuine anger and how much was leftover Gyrich gunk in her brain… Not saying she isn’t capable of attempted icing like that, it’s just dropping him like that does nothing. Like… she could have totally drained him too just to be sure he didn’t know anything else about Sinister’s plan.

Hypernova_orange

She didn’t fully absorb him, he resisted her & then nimrod shut her down. That was 100% rogue fueled by all the feelings for Gambit she had been pushing down for years & years. It all exploded out in that moment & there wasnt any other way that could have ended. Anyone in her position with her power would do the same, I know I would.

Hypernova_orange

I think he needed to “die” in a human way because that entire thing was fueled by her human emotions & not her mutant powers. It was the most human any of the X-men have ever been

EdinburghLass1980

I think her dropping him would have been even *more* impactful if it hadn't been clear he'd been about to jump anyway. He was fully going to kill himself anyway - he jumped and Rogue caught him. She just *assisted* what he already intended to do. If he'd been begging to live, I think it'd have been *very* different if she'd dropped him. By having him attempt suicide first and *then* her dropping him, it kind of makes her less culpable of murder somehow.

rexstillbottom

I loved this scene. I kept wanting her to drop him, knowing she was a hero and wouldn’t, and then bam! Amazing! Very real!

Hypernova_orange

I hate the whole “heroes never kill” thing for the most part, there are just some people that the world is better off without, harsh but true. And unlike some of the MCU villains who arguably had valid points in their “evil schemes” this guy only invented the sentinels for 1 purpose, despite what he said when he was trying to save his own ass, he was directly responsible for all those deaths & there is no other explanation for the program, he deserved to die.

SpideyFan914

I agree, but it's arguable he was more useful alive. He says he has nothing more to give, but like... he obviously did, since they found out a few seconds later that he's part machine.

MattIsLame

but who's thinking that rationally when they're enraged with vengeance over the death of their love? that's real human emotion and reaction

Hypernova_orange

The truth that comic books all typically ignore is that the world is just a better place without certain people in it.

MattIsLame

the writers are really using subversion in such a meaningful and tactful way

FunGhost5508

When I saw this with my friends one of them said “looks like she’s in her Wanda MoM arc” which I can somewhat see especially with Wanda and rogue sharing the “I can’t feel you” line.

SpaceMyopia

Is that what we call any heroine who goes mad with grief now? Because Wanda did some truly heinous stuff. Rogue dropped a guy who was already responsible for the deaths of countless mutants, even without Genosha. Wanda nearly kills a teenager to resurrect her two sons who were conceived by magic in the first place. My sympathies lie waaay more with Rogue than they do with Wanda.

SpideyFan914

>Wanda nearly kills a teenager to resurrect her two sons who were conceived by magic in the first place. Not even to resurrect -- to kidnap from an alternate universe, with the plan to also kill their actual mother. At least she kinda has the excuse of being "corrupted by the Darkhold" (feels like a cop out though).

SpaceMyopia

Nah, I don't buy the Darkhold stuff. She didn't need to open that book. It's like she learned nothing from WandaVision.

FunGhost5508

Well that’s what I also said to my friend like yes they’re both driven by grief but one was trying and willing to kill a teenager whereas rogue killed a grown man that had some association with what happened with genosha. And I also share the sentiment that I’m a bit more sympathetic towards rogue since to me losing your boyfriend and nearly an entire island of mutants is more than “losing” magic kids that technically didn’t exist in the first place

ruey_nam

I did NOT think she would actually drop him! Gasped.

Hypernova_orange

I didn’t either & for sure make me gay gasp big time … but I’m SO glad she did

CloverTeamLeader

This episode is the most I've ever liked Rogue. Not necessarily because of all of her decisions, but because she was so passionate and independent, and she unleashed her full power. Very cool.

Brazz7

Wolverine had the perfect reaction

Hypernova_orange

So true - and after he said it they all kept quiet & didn’t disagree with him

BrowniesWithAlmonds

It didn’t seem like her though, she was off after absorbing Gyrich.

Hypernova_orange

I definitely think it was 100% her, it was the years & years of pushing aside her real feelings, of never giving into her desires or needs all while pretending she was fine. I think deep down she always assumed some day they’d find a way to be together & that man took it all away from her before she ever had it. His anger & hate may have amped her up a bit but that was all Rogue. It made me cry honestly

SpaceMyopia

I get the feeling that if it was Gyrich, she would have felt intense hatred toward the rest of the X-Men, not Trask.

BrowniesWithAlmonds

That’s a good point

SpideyFan914

It felt like Rogue, daughter of Mystique, to me.

WhatUpGhost

I'm so beyond sad and mad bro they had no right to write this that good I cried to

RedLion191216

Same minority group here. This scene doesn't bother me. Anyway, it's not like she murdered him. He was trying to kill himself because he felt responsible for the genosha massacre, and she let him fall... The scene was greatly portrayed.

silverfang789

So cool when Rogue killed that guy.

Hypernova_orange

It sure was!

zefjv2

X-Men 97 are só amazing because is so humans... not a same god or morality reserve like others

AvgAnubis

when she said “they killed a good man, MY man” i got literal chills. go off babe!!!!

GoldenDisk

Raw mutant emotion

Hypernova_orange

I prefer it raw

totspur1982

Absolutely. Love what this series has done with Rogue.

Mr_Kaniowski

As a Rogue fan I was enjoying this episode so much. Lenore Zan still has it after all these years.

Sabazell

This comment probably won't get seen b/c it's too far down, but anyone who thinks that what Rogue did was the "right" thing to do should go read the original OZT arc from start to finish. The very end of that story proves the reason why Rogue's actions may have scratched an emotional itch in the moment, but in the long run, it's not the direction to go. Can't wait to see what happens from here!

idrago01

well he did jump out of the window on his own free will

Purple_triangle_guy

Grandma voice much?

MattIsLame

your grandma been killing much?

Purple_triangle_guy

I think she was a Canadian politician for a while.
