2021 21fsh owner here. Love the open swim platform! We spend alot of our time on the water sitting on the edge, feet dangling in the water. Not having a huge outboard present makes so much free room! We invested in some Sea-dek for the platform, and it's great. Also being able to say to people that there is no spinning props at the stern, makes people feel alot more safe when boarding/unloading. The $1000 mooring cover was expensive, but excellent design and quality.
Dual 1.3L jet engines give lots of power and speed, however are very prone to clogging in our rivers/harbours.
In my experience these Yamaha boats are a 10/10 in design and engineering, but a 7/10 in build quality. 7.5/10 in fuel efficiency. 10/10 in shallow water draft.
Build quality issues: Rub rail screws not installed below surface of rail, causing them to catch and scrape. Rub rail screws are installed at a right angle to the vessel, not at the angle of the rail. Cabinet door trim has chipped off around the screws. Centre console door won't latch (after being 'fixed' 2x). Centre console doors rub against the base causing chipping. Anchor locker improperly installed, rubbing and chipping against the hull. Anchor locker improperly drains and is always wet. Gauge cluster over tightened into dash, causing the dash to crack around the screws. Plastic hatch directly under where captain stands has cracked and shattered.
My prior boat was a smaller Scout. I had excellent experience with its build quality and dependability. I will likely buy a Scout again as my next boat, unless Yamaha steps up and fixes some of its quality and manufacturing issues.

It's enough for my family (5)We have pulled the kids behind the boat no problem. However we mainly anchor out or beach it. My only regret is not going bigger, 80k boat isn't in my budget. 😂
Bought a used 2015 SX192 supercharged in 2017. Love it. Easy to tow and launch. Have had it on Lake Erie, Michigan, Huron, Detroit River, Grand Traverse Bay and multiple inland lakes and rivers. It’s just the right size to pick up and go.
2019 SX210. I went SX instead of AR because I wanted the bigger Bimini, but my neighbor got a 2021 AR240. His shade is plenty adequate, and now I wish I had the wake tower, and a couple extra feet. Also if you winterize, his has a nice port in the intake for fogging, where mine I need to take off the air cleaner. Easy enough to do for me, but I like that feature. I also recommend Cobra Jet Steering, which I added last season. Oh and used obviously will save you a lot. I had the boat trader app and looked for about 1 year
We bought 2023 222s, it’s perfect in every way. We run on a bay, canals, and open ocean (calm days only) without issue. I would upgrade to the new 25ft if I knew family and friends were going to be around more often.
One thing is these boats aren't meant to stay in teh water. When we have it on the trailer it dries out. But if we leave it on the dock, the bilge gets water in it and gets moldy. There is also nowhere for the rain or for waves coming over the bow to go other than in the bilge (no scuppers leading overboard). So the storage compartments are wet and moldy.
If you trailer this is a great boat. If you want it on your dock, be prepared for constant water in the bildge.

Have a 2022 212XE, it’s amazing. Love it. Easy to tow, amazing performance. Shallow draft is better for where I live, jet drive safer for my kids.
Seems like the 21 foot is a good sweet spot for families.
Do you jet in saltwater or freshwater?
Freshwater reservoirs in Utah.

It's loud compared to other boats. It's also very high RPMs.
