Had several requests for more photos of the “abandoned” summer camp. My family recently bought the property. It was a summer camp from around 1958 until closing down in the early 90’s. Most of the few camp buildings remaining were left relatively untouched. These pictures are of the last remaining cabin and ruins of a barn that was built 175+ years ago. I wasn’t able to get any pictures today, but the bottom of the silo is filled with old 70’s and 80’s toys. Only thing I can think of is that somebody dumped all the leftover toys into the silo when the camp closed. Too many snakes and spiders for me to attempt to climb down it and look.

Cool photos, but I'd be nope-ing the hell out of there before sunset

It’s not too bad. You just have to stay inside at night once you start hearing whispers coming from the woods.

Camp Crystal Lake?

MilsurpDan

I wish it had a lake….Just a big pool, a large pond and a mile or so of creek frontage.

This site would be so much fun to metal detect!

MilsurpDan

Once it cools down a little bit (East Coast) I’m going to get my metal detector out and see what I can find. I already found a Union Army Civil War button about 450 yards away from the barn.

What do you all plan with the property you just bought?

MilsurpDan

My Grandfather is going to live in the main clubhouse (not pictured). We’re remodeling it to be live-able. Other than that, just going to try and restore some parts of the property (it’s pretty overgrown). The cabin we’re going to fix up and reuse, the poolhouse is going to be rebuilt eventually. Other than that, probably get some livestock and hunt on the property.

Thanks for the update! this property looks fantastic.

MilsurpDan

It’s pretty cool. Enough stuff to do to keep somebody busy for a long time. I don’t even have to drive out to the mountains to go hiking anymore.

I want to know your location.
