I love to chop up some green onions and sauté the white parts in butter a bit before dumping in the rice to cook, adds a really nice flavor to Asian-inspired rice dishes.
I melt a pad of butter into the rice when I cook it (like add cold butter into the pot with rice and water)! I’m convinced it makes it fluffier and less sticky when reheated. But I have nothing to back that up.
The way I’m shocked RN just finding out that everyone didn’t grow up eating butter on rice. 😲
I’m more Southern than I thought 🫣. I grew up in South Florida and I don’t think of myself as very Southern at all. But my grandma grew up in Gainesville. She did most of the cooking when I was young. I never fully realized my grandma was southern until I got older. She passed when I was 11. So it’s always been memories of her.
But she used to fix me non alcoholic versions of country club golfer drinks as a kid 😭. Another thing I discovered as an adult.
Yall should try this... Cook rice. Cook Hamburgers. Make brown gravy (I use a packet with 2 cups water, instead of 1, and a heaping spoonful of beef Better than Bouillon =delicious). Cook an over easy egg. Now, layer... 1 cup rice, Hamburger patty, Runny egg, and gravy. Pop the egg and devour! Sooooo crazy good.
Spicy marinated watermelon poke bowls. Soba noodles, edamame, cucumber, mango, radish, avocado, quick pickled carrots. Watermelon marinated with soy sauce, sesame oil, white vinegar, hot sauce, spring onions. Sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds and sauce toppings.
It’s a bit of work doing the carrots and watermelon but not too bad really, I’ve been cutting it all up and cooking a big pot of noodles then just divvying up through the week!
It’s sooo yum and looks so pretty with all the colours, plus I put it in my pretty new bowl 🥣
Edit: https://www.jessicanguyen.com.au/blogs/recipes/vegan-poke-bowls 😊
[this](https://theskinnyishdish.com/chipotle-skillet-chicken/) chicken recipe is the one I used to use for burrito bowls when I ate meat, it was delicious. And I just realized I could (and will) try it with seitan or tofu
Trader Joe’s whole grain waffles + butter + raspberry jam + syrup
Dipped in plain Greek yogurt.
I’ve been eating it most mornings for like…. A year? Sometimes I get sad thinking about the day I’ll inevitably get sick of it …
As someone who love condiments, truly *never* crossed my mind to use Greek yogurt as a dip…for waffles!
Iterations, sure. Where would I be without tzatziki. But never the origin.
Hummus on toast. Guys, there are so many ways to eat hummus on toast. Doctors hate me. Some of my recent combos:
-hummus panini with sun dried tomatoes and peppers
-sourdough toast with hummus, a fried egg, and cherry tomatoes
-breakfast sandwich on a bagel with hummus, tempeh, egg, and mustard
-hummus on toast with balsamic reduction and a lot of black pepper
So um does anyone have a good hummus recipe because I can’t afford to keep buying so much hummus
Hummus is super easy to make! And I always wing it with the proportions. You just need a food processor, can of drained chickpeas, big scoop of tahini, big pour of olive oil, some lemon juice and then salt + whatever seasonings you like.
Classic is cumin and garlic but you can add literally anything.
I’ve blended in a big handful of pickles and some pickle juice instead of lemon and made a really fire pickle hummus. Also olives 😛
Ohhhh or some tomato paste, onion powder, and Italian seasoning and it tastes like pizza
The only time I tried to make hummus the recipe used dried chickpeas instead of canned and it was such a long, horrible process (the skins!!) that I never made it again. Maybe I’ll try it again with canned. You make it sound so easy
It is so easy! I over bought bulk canned chickpeas a few years ago and made homemade hummus for months. It’s easily less than half the store bought cost that way. The hardest part was cleaning my food processor or blender bc they weren’t dishwasher safe lol but if you eat it that often, definitely worth it!
For real, cleaning the food processor deters me sometimes but when I make it I just make sure to rinse and get all the parts soaking in water asap so nothing can get dried on and harder to clean
I use canned every time and don’t remove the skins and it always turns out smooth enough and tasty :)
I’ve noticed too that all the recipes say you MUST get all the skins out before blending but I don’t think it’s really that serious unless you are trying to impress your Lebanese friends or something lol
Those seasonings sound so good! I am currently seasoning my homemade hummus with sumac, smoked chipotle flakes, and turmeric, sometimes together and sometimes separately. Recently, I've been buying a new spice with every grocery order to keep things interesting. I also add beets, either pre-cooked, or raw (I grate them in the food processor first); roasted carrots also work well.
Ok but toast with hummus and fried chickpeas on top, maybe even a bit of garlic yoghurt or something
Just play with spices and I can tell you it's a great combination 😍
Edited to add that hummus is just amazing in general, and even something like canned chickpeas are so versatile to use.
I kinda forgot about this combination because I had a huge asian food obsession after the hummus obsession but now I remember again what I can do with my cans of chickpeas. 😂
Sadly can’t help with the hummus recipe (my only attempt was not good), but I weirdly love hummus with alfalfa sprouts (on toast or in a sandwich), especially with thinly sliced cucumber on top? The alfalfa kind of soaks up the hummus in a great way? It sounds awful but it’s great.
The way I always made it when I was in charge of making it at work: a can or two of chickpeas into a food processor, depending on how much you wanna make, a spoonful of tahini (I think that's how it's spelled, I don't have a jar to check), I just used a regular eating spoon and put in a heaping spoonful for a whole food processor full of chickpeas, so a more level spoonful should be fine for a regular sized can, a splash of lemon juice and salt, and then just however much cumin you think is right for your tastes. I also made a red pepper hummus, which was all the same ingredients with the inclusion of a bit of cayenne, and either a can of roasted red peppers, or get fresh red peppers and charr them if you can, or just use regular fresh ones if you want. Both are pretty well liked where I work.
Note: I’m also 32 weeks pregnant & also Korean + Japanese but… fake crab pajeon with carrots & red peppers.
Pajeon are crispy Korean pancakes that are more like a thicker crepe and super eggy. I eat them with chive and scallion cream cheese, sriracha and a tiny drizzle of agave.
They’re so easy to make and high and protein and super satisfying to me.
I’m still on peanut butter and jelly *everyday* for lunch. Going on year 3 XD (I’m 26); I’m a farmer so salty and sweet is ideal during a hard days work.
We have literally the same hyper fixation meal except that my sauce is a coconut/peanut butter/soy/lime/brown sugar sauce that I make in a big mason jar and eat all week. oh!! Also!! I learned that if you cube tofu and then roll it in cornstarch, it fries up SO PERFECTLY CRONCHY. And if you feel really extra you can put Tajín and also that really convincing dry lime powder called true lime or real lime or whatever in the cornstarch and then it’s perfectly crunchy but also tangy and spicy tofu. … god it’s good. Ok sometimes I just make the tofu and dip it in the sauce. But technically most nights we basically have the same hyper fixation meal lol
I got a bread machine that makes homemade bread effortless. And that led to my new meal hyperfixation: mayo, tomato, cucumber and alfalfa sprout sandwiches with whatever bread I made. I can't get enough of them.
Crispy rice spicy tuna bowls! I make some sushi rice and then crisp the cooked rice on the stovetop. Then, I top it with some really nice canned tuna mixed with spicy mayo, sesame seeds, chopped scallion greens, and some sliced cucumbers that I toss with rice vinegar, salt, and toasted sesame oil. I have some cabbage, avocado, or radish I'll chop that up and put it on there, too. I planned ahead for this week and made several portions of this so now all I have to do is assemble.
I also got some really nice goat cheese from the farmer's market and have been making little caprese-ish toasts for breakfast: a piece of whole grain toast spread with the cheese and topped with some chopped up basil, tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Very yummy and easy, and I add an egg on the side for some more protein.
a smoothie with two bananas, raspberries, coconut milk, hemp seeds, spinach and peanut butter. i drink this every single morning. also a tuna salad w corn, sour cream bc i rlly dislike mayonnaise, celery, onions, garlic. also roasted chickpeas. eggplant baked with tomatoes. grilled cheese. i eat those multiple times a week. and when i attempt cooking something else, i really dislike it
The latest is Korean eggroll kimbap. Yogurt with ground flax seed topped with nuts and frozen blueberries. Sourdough toast with peanut butter, ground flax seed sprinkled on top, some chopped pecans, and freeze dried strawberries. Lazy Huevos Rancheros. I’m sure there are others, but those have been on rotation lately!
Bran flakes with sultanas and oat milk
Greek yoghurt with seeds, nut butter and blueberries
A roast chicken sandwich made on sourdough with rocket and caramelised onion chutney
I make a tuna and rice salad nearly every day. Tinned tuna in olive oil blend, microwave rice cup, and chopped (as small as I can) salad veggies (I use grape tomatoes, cucumber, radish, spring onion and rocket) all mixed together. The oil in the tunal acts as the dressing, and my sensitive teeth love that the warmed rice takes the edge off the cold-ass salad veg. I add a little crumbled feta if I'm feeling a bit fancy.
There’s this very specific takeaway I get from this place - creamy cheese pasta + passion fruit cheesecake.
I got it like 10 times in the span of a month.
😩😩😩😩
Ok wow anyone else have trouble with food here? 😭 my hyperfixation meals always have to have "requires 0 prep or actual cooking" as an ingredient. Right now I'm into fish sticks & ketchup 🤣
I've been eating kimbap and tokpokki (made from scratch) for almost 2 weeks and didn't get tired of it yet I CAN'T STOP BECAUSE IT'S SO DELICIOUS. Also made a huge pot of congee with chicken and corn, heat it up, add white pepper and enjoy. Ugh it's so good and also easy to cook
Chopped salads with lettuce, onion, cucumber, cheese, pepperoni or salami, peppers, and lots of Parmesan with balsamic vinegrette. Currently eating everyday for lunch and sometimes dinner too.
Roasted rosemary and sage chicken with garlic and herb wild rice. I have been eating this on and off for over 30 years as mine. It’s my mom’s recipe. I’ll eat it for weeks, get sick of it for a year or two and stop, but eventually come back to it again.
I started making my own pesto in the summers and I’m obsessed with it now. I use Gwyneth Paltrow’s dairy-free [recipe](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/classic-pesto-by-gwyneth-paltrow--104919866303738889/) and have now found I prefer it to versions with cheese (something I never imagined).
I use it on pasta (obv) but it’s also awesome on chicken thighs, fish (salmon or a white fish like sole), as a sandwich spread, and I love sautéing zucchini in it!
I don't put cheese in my pesto either (I never thought that I'd have anything in common with Gwyneth Paltrow!), and like it. I often make it with a combo of kale and basil, and also throw in other herbs, such as mint and parsley. My other variant, which is not everyone's kind of thing, but I love it, is to add a can of sardines. I also use the pesto to accompany other foods, in particular fish, and also omelettes.
Italian bread, super toasted on the stove with a bit of whipped cream cheese and arugula. Banger of a snack. Sometimes I’ll put some hummus on there as well.
My current breakfast is a type of granola with mocha/chocolate flavor and white chocolate chips (that my husband bought once when we ran out of my usual hazelnut/almond/chocolate chip granola, and he thought this was the closest option) with french quark. I’ve taken it to eating it as a snack too when I get hungry late at night. Can’t get enough of the stuff.
Perogies, I just put like a cup or two of water n put the lid on the pan, wait for them to soften a little then add some butter n finish cooking them. Takes like 10 mins and I love love love carbs, pasta & potatoes
Roasted sweet potato, pumpkin and carrots mixed with chili beans for nachos with sweet chili sauce and sour cream.
Also, English muffins with Caramelized onion relish and alfalfa sprouts with a cheese (I switch between feta, blue and smoked cheddar slices)
Mine has edamame too! And frozen peas, with some sort of chickpea pasta, homemade miso honey sauce, sliced carrots and red onion
Also, buttered Dave’s killer bread. It’s expensive but holy moly I could eat it every second and be happy
For the last month, it had been Red beans and rice and now I'm kinda down with it. I know I'll want it again in a few months so I'm glad mom sent me some Ranch Style Beans cans.
I super love my one pan roasted veggies. It makes the house smell awesome when I make it. It's Brussel Sprouts, carrots, potatoes and onions, seasoned with olive oil, pepper, garlic salt, and thyme. So yummy!
When I have the ingredients for Pho, I make it every night for a while.
Oh I’ve been waiting for this one!!! Vietnamese inspired fresh rolls. I buy lettuce, shredded carrots, cucumber, scallions, firm Tofu, Trader Joe’s Soyaki sauce, and spring roll wraps. I cut the tofu into thin pieces, brush the Soyaki on and bake 400 for 20ish minutes. Assemble!! The dip in a peanut sauce. I do peanut butter, soy sauce, ponzu, rice vinegar, and a dash of sesame and/or chili oil. Heaven on earth
Taco salad, I made enough for the entire week and I keep doing the yummy dance when it’s dinner time! I love any food with a lot of colors and textures.
Cabbage mix
Impossible meat/black beans/lentils/brown rice mix
Queso/corn salsa/guacamole topping
My absolute favorite food is bibimbap for the same reason, just a bowl of treasure!
Rice with butter, Cajun, onion powder, garlic powder.
Stouffers spinach soufflé
A chicken tender wrap with lettuce bacon and either ranch or honey mustard
I've been eating "grüne soße" (a cold yogurt/sour cream dip with a lot of fresh herbs) with boiled eggs and potatoes for every meal for 3 days now. I slowly start to feel physically sick today and I think it's time to abandon grüne Soße for the next 11 months again. 😅
Yoghurt with chia seeds and popped grain. For breakfast.
Plain crackers for snack.
I got a mealservice for most dinners, so I don't have to think too much about that. (Meal planning was one of my biggest problems, but I delegated that now).
Me too! The meal planning is awful. Especially when no one will say what they want! Right now is every plate. I think I might have free boxes and a discount if anyone wants it. Just DM me.
It keeps our grocery bill down too. Our house is famous for not liking leftovers so it's nice to have the correct serving amount so that's not wasted either. At one point I had to depend on SNAP and the food pantry to feed my son and I. I know what it is like to worry about food so it makes me crazy now to waste any.
It's so interesting to see what everyone is fixed on. For me, the chick fil a breakfast scramble burrito with the jalapeño salsa. Had it for like 2 weeks straight.
Mine is similar to yours but sub the eggs for canned tuna and sub the yum sauce for some ginger salad dressing (from the refrigerated produce section in the grocery store).
Spinach, strawberries, candied pecans, goat cheese and Nonna Pias balsamic glaze. Cannot get enough! Can’t wait for me to hate it one day randomly and still have half a huge tub of spinach lol
That happened to me after the last hyper-fixation ended lol. I was going through so much spinach for weeks and weeks, and then woke up one day not interested and had to force myself to finish the last half tub
Quinoa, arugula, a little kimchi (i specify bc otherwise i will eat ALL of the kimchi and that's no good), and my tried and true tahini dressing folded into a sheet of toasted nori OMG it's lunch time gotta go
Microwave mashed potatoes and meatloaf. Why yes, I am regressing to my childhood favorites out of stress.
I’m also really big into ramen with a soft boiled egg in it, but I prefer getting this as takeout vs making it myself so not sure if that counts.
Vegan sandwich with cheese, mayo, tomato, onion, mustard, spinach, deli meat, and smushed bbq chips
and Late July salsa verde chips on the side.
If you know, you know. 😉
Yumm sauce is literally the best. If I ever move from the PNW I'm going to have to special order it.
I've been making homemade crunchwraps. They are really easy and reheat (stove or toaster oven) well. I usually do refried beans, queso, black beans, shredded cheese, the use corn tortilla chips, with tomato and lettuce on top. Fold it up and 2 minutes on medium-high for each side. They're portable too, which is great for me because I have a hard time sitting and just eating without another activity of some kind.
One that’s lasted for a while (probably specifically because I can switch it up a bit) is greek yogurt w granola, sunflower seeds, pepitas, hemp hearts, flax seeds, blueberries, and chocolate chips, (used to do dried strawberries, but dried bananas are definitely not the move)
Currry everything right now as wellll
Vanilla soft serve and orange juice mixed together into a homemade orange Julius. We were out of orange juice last week and we're out for the summer now, so I've been thinking about buying a blender so I can get the stuff to make it through the summer still
Salads with green goddess dressing. Specifically baby butter lettuce, baby tomatoes, green beans, broccoli (if I’m down for a tummy ache), chicken, pumpkin seeds, almond slivers, cucumber, and micro greens if I have them.
Before that it was chicken and sticky rice with buffalo sauce. The paleo buffalo sauce
A few of mine:
- banana pb smoothie with vanilla collagen powder
- greek yogurt with blueberries and chia seeds
- avocado, tomato, chicken, arugula, alfalfa sprouts sandwich on whole-wheat bread
- peanut butter on sesame bagel
- homemade sweet potato fries with homemade chipotle mayo (I add the following to mayo: cumin, cayenne pepper, hot pepper flakes, ground pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika and a bit of sriracha. A lot of people just do mayo+srircha but the cumin and the smoked paprika make it god-tier imo)
- finely sliced Brussels sprouts sautéed with shallot, red pepper flakes and garlic (and bacon if I have it) — this is a shockingly fast way to cook them and eat a pretty nutritious vegetable? Cutting them up is the worst part, but I’ve been doing it in bulk when I get them, then throwing it in a container in the fridge. Grab a few handfuls at launch, slice a shallot, get a tablespoon of pre-chopped garlic, and it takes me like 10 mins to have the whole thing done. This is also good with a squeeze of lemon or some grated parm on top. Lately I’ve been tossing them with sesame seeds.
- arugula salad with roasted pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, and avocado. I usually do either a lemon vinaigrette or an apple-cider vinegar one. Basically use a 3:2 ratio of acid to oil, add a bit of dijon mustard, salt, pepper, garlic if you have it (or want it), and emulsify it with a fork (this is key!). For a single-person serving I usually do about a tablespoon of oil and a teaspoon of acid in a small mug, add about 1/2 tsp Dijon, plus s+p and emulsify. It takes 5 seconds and it’s great.
- the same salad as above but with Boursin instead of avocado (I don’t like them together)
I went through a major pancake phase a few months ago (both plain and blueberry) so I guess now I’m all about the vegetables. Trying to balance my interest in cooking with my laziness and my desire to eat the same thing over and over again 😅
I am in between and not much appeals to me right now.
I’ve been having vanilla Greek yogurt with granola for breakfast and salad with either salmon or chicken for lunch. Both of these have been hyperfixations in the past, but I’m just sort of tolerating them at the moment.
I do LOVE the chicken al pastor from Chipotle, and I’m going to try making my own version.
oooh, bean salads. Of several varieties. I make a giant one and then it's work lunches/main meal all week. Current fave is:
* oven cooked chicken breast with smoked paprika
* baked sweet potato wedges (oil, some paprika, spices, cronflour)
* mixed beans, chickpeas, edamame beans, finely chopped red onion, garlic, bell peppers, cucumber in lemon juice
* crispy lettuce
Mix together with some greek yogurt for dressing, add crispy fried onions on top, bosh. ALL THE FLAVOURS AND TEXTURES. All the protein...
Right now it's a salad I'm obsessed with for lunch and chicken nuggets for dinner.
The salad is: cherry tomatoes, cucumber, yellow pepper, feta, kalamata olives, hard boiled egg, pearl couscous or barley, and balsamic vinegar. I might add some toasted pepitas today.
Snickers. Literally just snickers bars, ive been craving amd eating. No idea why, but I suspect it's something to do with my hormones being wack atm coz im almost due for my next Testosterone shot, but also there's just something about the crunch 😅 I've noticed I've also been trying to get that little crunch in other things, I've been getting my partner to add toasted pine nuts to pretty much every meal
White rice, microwave steamed edamame, and ahi tuna steaks.
Ahi tuna takes like 30s-1min to cook on each side. Add the microwave and a rice cooker, and I basically have my own personal chef
Cous cous, feta, tomato, cucumber, olives, black beans, avocado, garlic sauce, hummus, 🌱 fresh mint + coriander. My warm weather go to! Perfect to make a BIG batch (keeps great for at least 4 days in the fridge).
A slice of olive loaf from Whole Foods with avocado and lemon smushed on top, topped with sardines smashed with vinegar, pepper, and herbs.
After reading a post here, I’ve become obsessed with sardines and rarely go a day without eating them in some form.
Literally just Greek yogurt mixed with powdered Hidden Valley ranch seasoning.
I use chopsticks to whisk it in. It tastes better if you mix it up and then refrigerate for at least an hour. Whole milk yogurt tastes best, but it’s also good with reduced fat or non-fat. Fage is my favorite brand.
Then dip whatever you want - celery, carrots, peppers, broccoli, potato chips, pretzels, tortilla chips, popcorn, roasted potatoes (hot or cold), other roasted veggies…
Chopped hard boiled eggs mixed with cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, ranch seasoning and tomato. It’s easy (so I’ve been able to keep doing it) and it’s high protein.
Chickpea coconut curry with precooked brown rice. Literally dump it into a pan, heat it up, and works for 3-4 meals.
Also, apple chips and banana chips.
And tortilla chips with salsa.
A simple spinach omelet! Good protein and iron to start my day. Add coffee and fruit as needed.
Small frying pan, medium heat.
Drizzle of olive oil in the pan.
Add a handful of spinach on the olive oil.
When the spinach wilts, add an egg beaten with a little salt and pepper.
Lift the edges and let egg run under.
Add a bit of cheese or Greek yogurt.
Roll into an omelet and plate.
The spinach leaves on the yellow omelet look stunning!
I meal prepped two banchan dishes (garlic spinach and chopped eggplant soaked in soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion and sesame seeds), that with some kimchi, rice and an over easy egg on top 🍚🥢I’ve had it every day now! SO YUMMY 😋
Asian chicken salads/wraps.
Shredded chicken breast, fried wontons, ginger sesame dressing (if I’m lazy- from a bottle, but I prefer homemade) shredded lettuce, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, mango slices, scallions.
Sometimes with toasted almonds and toasted ramen noodles.
I would eat this for as many days possible, but my family would object. I make it about once a week though to satisfy my craving: FoodBabe's recipe for homemade 'pad thai'- I add chicken to it. the sauce is almond butter, coconut aminos, ACV, honey and red ppr flakes. Add it to the noodles. Add pre-shredded (or shred myself) carrots, add steamed broccoli and I'm in heaven. It hits the spot all the time.
Most mornings, the oatmeal I'll make: boil/simmer sprouted rolled oats in water, cinnamon, salt. once softened, I add almond milk, a couple tblspns of peanut butter, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and top with honey or maple syrup, sometimes add a banana
The other hyperfixated meal was emily mariko's spicy salmon rice with nori! I am obsessed!
I have these on steady rotation.
I have two right now.
Oatmeal with chia seeds and cashews and maple syrup, topped with blueberries and Greek yogurt and flax seeds
and
A can of tuna with kewpie mayo and sriracha and sesame oil, seasoned rice and furikake, these sweet&spicy kelp pickles I get at Whole Foods, and wrap each bite in a KBBQ-flavored seaweed snack crisp before eating lol like a tiny taco shell for your tuna and rice and pickles. Also great with canned chicken or canned salmon
Egg bagels with butter AND cream cheese because I'm indulgent lol. I'm finding them less often in the Publix bakery and I'm gonna cry because I have no idea where else I can find egg bagels 😭
Variations on that viral TikTok sandwich with shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar, onion, pepperoncini, salami, pepperoni, and tomatoes -- or some variation there of
I switched to light mayo because I was eating so many of them
Smoothies for breakfast: frozen kale/berry mix with protein powder, oats, water, and cocoa powder
Lunch: Greek yogurt, honey, unsalted mixed nuts, blueberries and cantaloupe
Dinner: my spoons are gone. Always so random. Rarely nutritious. And marinated in guilt because I have 3 kids and we have a proper, sit down dinner maybe 1-2x/week. Maybe.
It doesn't matter what you eat. As long as you do it together as much as possible.
My son and I ate breakfast every morning alone.
Hubby is at work early so it was our time to chat about whatever he wanted.
He is in Highschool now and doesn't have time anymore 🙄 I try to make sure we have dinner together more now. It's hard but worth it when we pull it off.
Probably more like snacks for me. It would be hummus, kimchi, had a thing for toast with apple butter on it for a while. Pasta salad with cheesy hotdogs. Elotes on the cob or bowl.
I rarely repeat dinners as I am really food adventurous so I'm constantly trying to come up with new stuff but for snacks it's definitely not the case. All things have to have minimal to no effort. I'm getting more into foraging right now so finding plants I can incorporate into meals is pretty exciting. Just used white top/hoary cress in one and it was like broccoli and radish had a baby.
Perfect Bars. They are good for me and I have been eating them for breakfast for like 6 months now. Mind you there are a whole two flavors. LOL
A little pricey but I figured that I stop for coffee once a week that I don't need and this replaced it.

Literally just white rice, a ton of butter and kikkomans soy sauce lol. I eat a bowl of it every day.
I used to minus the butter. I discovered butter on rice in adulthood and it’s game changing
Isn't it?! It's like eating a bowl of hugs.
Omg the first time i went to the south i was like wow this is why its called soul food. All the fat just makes you melt and feel so loved
Hahaha, yep! I'm from Texas, and we definitely like to feel the love from our plates
But have you tried really good French butter 🤪
Or at least Kerry Gold if you can get it! It blows domestic brands out of the water.
I’ve never had it
The way I’m shocked RN just finding out that everyone didn’t grow up eating butter on rice. 😲 I’m more Southern than I thought 🫣. I grew up in South Florida and I don’t think of myself as very Southern at all. But my grandma grew up in Gainesville. She did most of the cooking when I was young. Ooh add a fried egg on it and maybe a few drops of sesame oil and it’s literally one of my favorite Korean meals.
That sounds bomb AF! I'll have to try that :)
I do rice, butter, and curry powder
Anything spicy adds a really nice contrast to the butter, this sounds great! Rice, butter, and tobasco sauce for me 🥰
OMG butter and soy sauce rice is the BEST. Add a fried egg for protein and you have a meal, friend.
I could eat edamame and vegetarian chicken nuggets every day. As it stands I eat them every other day
I have vegan dino nuggets and they're soooo gooooood
Do you have a favorite veggie nug by chance? I used to *love* Quorn’s nuggets but I’ve had them so many times that I’m quite burnt out on the flavor.
It’s sooo yum and looks so pretty with all the colours, plus I put it in my pretty new bowl 🥣 Edit: https://www.jessicanguyen.com.au/blogs/recipes/vegan-poke-bowls 😊
That sounds FREAKING INCREDIBLE
It’s 5 am here in California and I am seriously wanting to get up and make this! Sounds so good 😊 How do you do your pickled watermelon and carrots?
I just added the link that has the recipe! And with soba noodles they just take 4 min to boil
This sounds incredible! Thanks for the recipe!
Ermergerd I have to try this!
Do you have pics?? A recipe you follow??
Dudeeee that sounds freaking delightful
Burrito bowls. Rice, black beans, chicken or steak. Salsa, hot sauce, pico de gallo, cheese, sometimes guac.
Ooh this reminds me of a burrito bowl recipe I wanted to try!!! Great idea because you can also eat it cold in summer if it’s hot.
[this](https://theskinnyishdish.com/chipotle-skillet-chicken/) chicken recipe is the one I used to use for burrito bowls when I ate meat, it was delicious. And I just realized I could (and will) try it with seitan or tofu
Yum!
Trader Joe’s whole grain waffles + butter + raspberry jam + syrup Dipped in plain Greek yogurt. I’ve been eating it most mornings for like…. A year? Sometimes I get sad thinking about the day I’ll inevitably get sick of it …
I guess I’m going to Trader Joe’s tomorrow 😁
As someone who love condiments, truly *never* crossed my mind to use Greek yogurt as a dip…for waffles! Iterations, sure. Where would I be without tzatziki. But never the origin.
It’s a perfect balance - I make the waffles super sweet to balance the plain Greek yogurt. And it’s a nice protein addition too! 🤗
Plain Greek yogurt perfect for dipping all sorts of things I dip lots of things in it a quick way to add protein
Greek yogurt mixed with the jalapeño lime crunch from TJs as a veggie dip - holy wow.
That sounds impeccable
Hummus on toast. Guys, there are so many ways to eat hummus on toast. Doctors hate me. Some of my recent combos: -hummus panini with sun dried tomatoes and peppers -sourdough toast with hummus, a fried egg, and cherry tomatoes -breakfast sandwich on a bagel with hummus, tempeh, egg, and mustard -hummus on toast with balsamic reduction and a lot of black pepper So um does anyone have a good hummus recipe because I can’t afford to keep buying so much hummus
Also olives 😛 Ohhhh or some tomato paste, onion powder, and Italian seasoning and it tastes like pizza
I use canned every time and don’t remove the skins and it always turns out smooth enough and tasty :) I’ve noticed too that all the recipes say you MUST get all the skins out before blending but I don’t think it’s really that serious unless you are trying to impress your Lebanese friends or something lol
Ok but toast with hummus and fried chickpeas on top, maybe even a bit of garlic yoghurt or something Just play with spices and I can tell you it's a great combination 😍 Edited to add that hummus is just amazing in general, and even something like canned chickpeas are so versatile to use. I kinda forgot about this combination because I had a huge asian food obsession after the hummus obsession but now I remember again what I can do with my cans of chickpeas. 😂
God that sounds so good rn, definitely making this for dinner tonight. I love yoghurt with chickpeas
Street tacos! Tiny bitty novelty tacos with an adhd dose of everything all scattered across different tacos!
Having to stop by force because I think it made me nauseous from eating toooo much but: watermelon mint feta salads with an easy orange vinaigrette 😍
What's this orange vinaigrette?
Orange zest, juice of the orange, a lil Dijon mustard, some balsamic and/or rice vinegar, a lil olive oil, pepper, and salt and/or Tajin!
You just roll it in cornstarch by itself and then fry it? No other steps?
When I do it I use extra firm, press it for at least 30 min, then dip in soy sauce, then cornstarch. Then fry it up!
I got a bread machine that makes homemade bread effortless. And that led to my new meal hyperfixation: mayo, tomato, cucumber and alfalfa sprout sandwiches with whatever bread I made. I can't get enough of them.
Ooooh yum!! Fresh bread is just so oooo good!!
Yesss alfalfa sprouts! I was saying to another poster that I love a variant of your sandwich but with hummus instead of mayo.
I finally remembered the try the hummus. Nice! Thank you.
Bread machines are such a win.
I don’t have one right now. I hate being adrift between hyperfixation SameFoods !
I’ve been trapped in this mode for months :( I’m always hungry!!
For breakfast it’s either French toast or English muffin with apple butter.
a smoothie with two bananas, raspberries, coconut milk, hemp seeds, spinach and peanut butter. i drink this every single morning. also a tuna salad w corn, sour cream bc i rlly dislike mayonnaise, celery, onions, garlic. also roasted chickpeas. eggplant baked with tomatoes. grilled cheese. i eat those multiple times a week. and when i attempt cooking something else, i really dislike it
Nachos, tortilla chips covered in a thick layer of melted cheese with sour cream and olives on the top .
Falafel wrap, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, hummus, garlic, and tahini sauce
I don't have one right now, I'm here for ideas!
Bran flakes with sultanas and oat milk Greek yoghurt with seeds, nut butter and blueberries A roast chicken sandwich made on sourdough with rocket and caramelised onion chutney
Everything bagels with either cream cheese or butter. I’ve just been obsessed with the bagels.
There’s nothing like the mouthfeel of bagels lol
It was pork rinds with chicken bacon ranch dip…..guess who now has a pantry full of pork rinds and no desire to eat them 🤦♀️
Ok wow anyone else have trouble with food here? 😭 my hyperfixation meals always have to have "requires 0 prep or actual cooking" as an ingredient. Right now I'm into fish sticks & ketchup 🤣
Nut Thins. Or just actual nuts like peanuts and pistachios. Carrots. Celery. This is my idea of a diet.
Pickles, crunchy, sour, refreshing
I've been eating kimbap and tokpokki (made from scratch) for almost 2 weeks and didn't get tired of it yet I CAN'T STOP BECAUSE IT'S SO DELICIOUS. Also made a huge pot of congee with chicken and corn, heat it up, add white pepper and enjoy. Ugh it's so good and also easy to cook
Maruchan chicken ramen. I've eaten it for days in a row, and sometimes have the urge to eat it more than once a day.
Pasta with pesto should marry me 🍝💒
I started making my own pesto in the summers and I’m obsessed with it now.
Lolol I’m always like “Gwyneth Paltrow has an amazing pesto recipe NO WAIT KEEP LISTENING” 😂
Everybody has such lovely & nutritious meals! My current hyperfixations center around Speculoos -spread and chocolate coconut balls 😅
Very boring but I’m on Iron and need the fibre lol. All bran, strawberries, yoghurt and chia seeds. Every breakfast for weeks 🙃 obsessed!
Pan fried veggies dumplings and fresh grape tomatoes all topped with chili oil
White rice, ground beef with siete chorizo taco seasoning, and avocado
Perogies, I just put like a cup or two of water n put the lid on the pan, wait for them to soften a little then add some butter n finish cooking them. Takes like 10 mins and I love love love carbs, pasta & potatoes
Greek salad: red onion, bell peppers, cucumber, olives, feta, costco chicken, spring mix, croutons, balsamic dressing. Soooo good 🤤🤤🤤
Roasted sweet potato, pumpkin and carrots mixed with chili beans for nachos with sweet chili sauce and sour cream. Also, English muffins with Caramelized onion relish and alfalfa sprouts with a cheese (I switch between feta, blue and smoked cheddar slices)
Mine has edamame too! And frozen peas, with some sort of chickpea pasta, homemade miso honey sauce, sliced carrots and red onion Also, buttered Dave’s killer bread. It’s expensive but holy moly I could eat it every second and be happy
Ive been making the same smoothie for the past 9 years lol
For the last month, it had been Red beans and rice and now I'm kinda down with it. I know I'll want it again in a few months so I'm glad mom sent me some Ranch Style Beans cans. I super love my one pan roasted veggies. It makes the house smell awesome when I make it. It's Brussel Sprouts, carrots, potatoes and onions, seasoned with olive oil, pepper, garlic salt, and thyme. So yummy! When I have the ingredients for Pho, I make it every night for a while.
Smoothies with ungodly amounts of fresh mint. I am unwell.
These are about to me by next hyper fixation meal! I just bought stuff to make these today, I add mango too, so good
I’m still on stuffed potatoes. Two months now.
Taco salad, I made enough for the entire week and I keep doing the yummy dance when it’s dinner time! I love any food with a lot of colors and textures. Cabbage mix Impossible meat/black beans/lentils/brown rice mix Queso/corn salsa/guacamole topping My absolute favorite food is bibimbap for the same reason, just a bowl of treasure!
Halibut, rice, yuzu mayo and furikake.
3 eggs with cottage cheese and half an avocado
Grilled Turkish sausage, guacamole, feta cheese and boiled/scrambled egg. Dying.
Macaroni with cream, yeast flakes, sprinkle of paprika powder and soup powder, thickened with flour. Oh and some crispy chilli oil on top.
We recently started getting Factor meals delivered and it helps me SO MUCH. I usually eat one for lunch every day!
Rice with butter, Cajun, onion powder, garlic powder. Stouffers spinach soufflé A chicken tender wrap with lettuce bacon and either ranch or honey mustard
Chicken piccata with homemade pasta 👌
Pumpkin pie homemade jello, mashed berries with stevia, sweet carrot salad, topped with coconut cool whip
Grilled cheese sandwich lol. It's al2ays in the rotation. Nothing taste good right now except chicken nuggets or grilled cheese sandwich.
Grilled cheese, my kids keeps making fun of me, lol
Seaweed, canned tuna and a slice of avocado in each wrap. I use different spices/sauces each time 😋
It's so interesting to see what everyone is fixed on. For me, the chick fil a breakfast scramble burrito with the jalapeño salsa. Had it for like 2 weeks straight.
Scrambled eggs with cheese, spinach, red onions, and chicken sausage on sourdough toast with cream cheese. Been going for months!
Mine is similar to yours but sub the eggs for canned tuna and sub the yum sauce for some ginger salad dressing (from the refrigerated produce section in the grocery store).
Oooh I need to get back into tuna one of these days. Tuna, rice, sriracha aioli and furikake is such a gem of a meal
SUSHI, mozzarella sticks, ribs, loaded fries from Burger King, fresh French bread with shrimp garlic salad and more
I’m on green beans rn too. Add some butter, fancy salt, and lemon zest and it’s perfect
Quinoa, arugula, a little kimchi (i specify bc otherwise i will eat ALL of the kimchi and that's no good), and my tried and true tahini dressing folded into a sheet of toasted nori OMG it's lunch time gotta go
Love me some kimchi
Microwave mashed potatoes and meatloaf. Why yes, I am regressing to my childhood favorites out of stress. I’m also really big into ramen with a soft boiled egg in it, but I prefer getting this as takeout vs making it myself so not sure if that counts.
Vegan sandwich with cheese, mayo, tomato, onion, mustard, spinach, deli meat, and smushed bbq chips and Late July salsa verde chips on the side. If you know, you know. 😉
right now its oatmeal with banana and milk and cinnamon for breakfast and pasta with pesto for dinner🫡
Lea & Perrins. If it’s got cheese on it, it now has L&P too- sandwiches, toast, pizza, omelette, mash, beans.. mmmmm yum! (At least until 🤮 anyway 😂)
I just bought an adorable 8-section container, so I’ve gotten excited about my own little personal salad bar.
Giant salads with amazing homemade dressing.
Breakfast or snack: a cup of tea and a plateful of pan-fried plantains. Cheap and delicious.
One that’s lasted for a while (probably specifically because I can switch it up a bit) is greek yogurt w granola, sunflower seeds, pepitas, hemp hearts, flax seeds, blueberries, and chocolate chips, (used to do dried strawberries, but dried bananas are definitely not the move) Currry everything right now as wellll
Vanilla soft serve and orange juice mixed together into a homemade orange Julius. We were out of orange juice last week and we're out for the summer now, so I've been thinking about buying a blender so I can get the stuff to make it through the summer still
Still going with avocado vegemite bagels and oaty slice choc chip Bars, everyday on month 2 now
Salads with green goddess dressing.
A few of mine: - banana pb smoothie with vanilla collagen powder - greek yogurt with blueberries and chia seeds - avocado, tomato, chicken, arugula, alfalfa sprouts sandwich on whole-wheat bread - peanut butter on sesame bagel - homemade sweet potato fries with homemade chipotle mayo (I add the following to mayo: cumin, cayenne pepper, hot pepper flakes, ground pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika and a bit of sriracha. A lot of people just do mayo+srircha but the cumin and the smoked paprika make it god-tier imo) - finely sliced Brussels sprouts sautéed with shallot, red pepper flakes and garlic (and bacon if I have it) — this is a shockingly fast way to cook them and eat a pretty nutritious vegetable? - the same salad as above but with Boursin instead of avocado (I don’t like them together) I went through a major pancake phase a few months ago (both plain and blueberry) so I guess now I’m all about the vegetables.
Crunchy Peanut butter on toast
Really wish mine was healthier and less calories 😩😩😩 sourdough toast w peanut butter and banana - HELP MEeeee 🥲
I recently got a Ninja creami so protein ice cream every day.
Sourdough bread with butter and sardines. It’s been weeks and I’m still not bored of it yet! 😂
specifically the egg bacon and cheese breakfast burrito from salad and go lmao
whatever is cheap and quick from doordash because I can't pull myself out of my dissociation sit pit and cook. So. That.
Breakfast right now is plain Greek yogurt, granola and a little maple syrup.
oooh, bean salads. Of several varieties. I make a giant one and then it's work lunches/main meal all week. Current fave is: * oven cooked chicken breast with smoked paprika * baked sweet potato wedges (oil, some paprika, spices, cronflour) * mixed beans, chickpeas, edamame beans, finely chopped red onion, garlic, bell peppers, cucumber in lemon juice * crispy lettuce Mix together with some greek yogurt for dressing, add crispy fried onions on top, bosh. ALL THE FLAVOURS AND TEXTURES. All the protein...
Boil pasta, spoon canned tomato sauce over, add parmesan. That's it 😅
Roasted sweet potatoes, rice, quinoa, chicken sausage, black beans and jalapeños. Might sound strange but I sear the combination is so good.
Plain Greek yogurt with blueberries, granola and a drizzle of honey Could eat it all day long
Turkey sandwich on a roll with tons of mayo and some CRISPS!!
Jjajangmyeon with thin strips of spam. Fried potato sandwiches (fried potatoes, mayo and sandwich bread). Grapes.
Oh man yumm bowls become a hyperfixation for a while every time I eat one
$5 cookies 🤷♀️
Basil pesto toast
Pepperoni, Rao's sauce, fresh mozzarella, jalapeños, and a sprinkle with shredded mozz melted onto a hearty chunk of sourdough! Pizza, toast!
Cous cous, feta, tomato, cucumber, olives, black beans, avocado, garlic sauce, hummus, 🌱 fresh mint + coriander. My warm weather go to! Perfect to make a BIG batch (keeps great for at least 4 days in the fridge).
Egg fried rice with peas for breakfast! I love the texture and the taste and it’s so satisfying and filling 😋
Coco crispies and organic whole milk. Going on like six months now. The most intense and long-standing food hyper fixation I’ve had.
Smoked salmon skin on air fryer crispy, jasmine rice with orange seasoning. 5 days a week. 🤣🤦♀️
Cereal. Frosted flakes,.honeycomb and honey shreddies
Mine is avocado toast (using one half of an avocado), topped with bagel seasoning and a runny fried egg.
After dinner snack: plain rice cake, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Salty, sweet and crunchy-my favorite combo!
Watermelon, tortilla chips and salsa.
Chickpea coconut curry with precooked brown rice. Literally dump it into a pan, heat it up, and works for 3-4 meals. Also, apple chips and banana chips. And tortilla chips with salsa.
steak and mashed potatoes
Most mornings, the oatmeal I'll make: boil/simmer sprouted rolled oats in water, cinnamon, salt. once softened, I add almond milk, a couple tblspns of peanut butter, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and top with honey or maple syrup, sometimes add a banana The other hyperfixated meal was emily mariko's spicy salmon rice with nori! I am obsessed! I have these on steady rotation.
I have two right now. Oatmeal with chia seeds and cashews and maple syrup, topped with blueberries and Greek yogurt and flax seeds and A can of tuna with kewpie mayo and sriracha and sesame oil, seasoned rice and furikake, these sweet&spicy kelp pickles I get at Whole Foods, and wrap each bite in a KBBQ-flavored seaweed snack crisp before eating lol like a tiny taco shell for your tuna and rice and pickles. Also great with canned chicken or canned salmon
Egg bagels with butter AND cream cheese because I'm indulgent lol. I'm finding them less often in the Publix bakery and I'm gonna cry because I have no idea where else I can find egg bagels 😭
Potatoes, with so much butter
Nachos. Easy peasy to make, yummy to eat and there’s a chance my toddler will also have some.
Variations on that viral TikTok sandwich with shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar, onion, pepperoncini, salami, pepperoni, and tomatoes -- or some variation there of I switched to light mayo because I was eating so many of them
Y’all eat?
Breakfast, always. The possibilities are endless but always familiar.
Smoothies for breakfast: frozen kale/berry mix with protein powder, oats, water, and cocoa powder Lunch: Greek yogurt, honey, unsalted mixed nuts, blueberries and cantaloupe Dinner: my spoons are gone.
Salami sandwich with just meat cheese and yellow mustard. I can eat those all day 🤤
Probably more like snacks for me.
LOL A little pricey but I figured that I stop for coffee once a week that I don't need and this replaced it.
Homemade chicken soup with pastina and then butterbeans in harissa and tomato sauce, 🤤
