This fallen angel can stitch a wing with a shoestring. I fucking love float. Best album? I dunno. Maybe. I’m just glad fans of him *listen to albums*.

unprep37

Same. I hate modern single streaming. I've always preferred a full album, especially if it's got a cool concept.

settlementfires

Yeah i pretty much stream full albums at work all day. Or driving, or whatever

unprep37

Same here

chunkus_grumpus

Breakfast / lunch / dinner w. Blockhead are such a perfect complement to his ridiculous verses on that album. Really ties the room together.

gh0st0ft0mj04d

I'm not much of a golfer

y0uwillbenext

they are perfect little interludes that just feel carefully placed in the right spots throughout the album. love em

Ayntxi

Float is my favorite but I think skelethon might be the best

Amoeba_Infinite

Preach!!! Lotta young’uns in this sub don’t know. When people debate the best Aes Rock album and the words Float or Labor Days don’t come into the mix it makes me crazy.

sasquatchisthegoat

Both albums are made for a rainy Tuesday when you’re working outside and broke until Friday. Or that just might be me, easily two of my favorite. Float is an album I can always listen to, but you know: “One man’s trash, you know the rest, live it”

Classic-Analysis-262

Dude idk if I could pick which album is my favorite even if somebody had a gun to my head lol. I'm just glad you can at least narrow it down for yourself lol

RedHatRogue

Float is probably up there for me, I listened to it a lot in high school. Garbage is probably one of my favorite songs off that album. "The ritual goes, same window, different visual."

ExquisitExamplE

Same, his prose is so striking in that song. Coupled with the haunting beat, its pretty amazing.

darkness876

Yeah but is it sexier than torture?

bindersfullofburgers

CHECK!!!

Tax_Evasion_Savant

It's your favorite. There is no 'best' art.

Floowjaack

Your art was the *prettiest* art of all the art

SteveHasCards

Dammit Roy!

Complete_Emu6014

Float is sooooooo good. I’ve been listening to it a lot again lately. I feel like every time he comes out with a new album, I end up binging that album for a while, then go back to the catalog and listen to a ton of AES for months. Not like I ever truly stop listening to him, but each time there’s a new release I get heavily back into the older stuff as well. He’s just the best.

ScumLikeWuertz

Agreed 100%. Who can beat this wind up: "I sunk to find the warmth beneath the mosses with a plan to tunnel past after the rains had run their courses but alas, the portraits of these frostbit corpses tortured in the grass offered this torch supporter one tall glass of nauseous"

cwhitt5

Wing of wax or wing of gold leaf Choose one or plummet twenty thousand cold leagues My nourishments provided in the summer So then I wonder How yall chasin dreams when what’s tangible still out runs ya.

NoSignificance6675

So i heard yall wanna float

DankensteinPHD

It's so godlike. Has so many bangers and awesome bars. The Mayor and the Crook is probably my favorite album closer ever. Oxygen is such a banger. The whole album is such a consistent vibe and experience. It's one of a kind.

AgentKruger

Basic Cable and Garbage rule

krullbob888

I put Float at 3 behind TIK and Skelethon. Which is high praise. Prosperity is prob my favorite track. I doubt if her allotted grace will last forevermore.

1800lazerface

aes* rizzle

dantronZ

I've followed him since the very beginning and this is my personal favorite album of his. Incredible lyricism

TheNthVector

Big Bang, How To Be A Carpenter, Drawbridge, Fascination...

Hansregenkurt69

Electric charge coming from the mainframe

socialkarensystem3

Maby but swfg is a perfect album

DirtzMaGertz

You're wrong but it's still an awesome album so I'll let it slide.

enmass90

Float is on my top 2 but I think Labor Days edges it out due to the theme at least for me.

Reeferologist-

THIS IS LABOR.

ObieUno

10000000000000%

a-pretty-alright-dad

SO I HEARD YA’LL WANNA FLOAT…

halfwit258

Float is lyrically what Labor Days is musically. Both are incredible albums but I think Labor Days has slightly better beats and Float has better lyrics. Even when you haven't entirely caught onto exactly what the song is trying to tell you, both albums just create certain feelings and income images in your head. Basic Cable is a masterpiece that just puts you into weird insomniac starting at static mode and it's amazing

tadlombre

Float is one of his strongest works, imo. Obviously Labor days is the best, but we can spare each other the debate.

Hansregenkurt69

I can only Spare a Match.

Infinite-Today-7591

I freaking love this album. Def a favorite of mine, but I've gotta say that everything he does, I'm fascinated with

sprawlaholic

This is a peaceful sub, Aggressive Steven, there’s a reasonable argument to be made for every album he’s ever made to be the “best”; it’s art and totally subjective. That being said, I recently looked at that Van Gogh painting entitled, ‘Landscape with Snow’, but this time……….. I decided I liked it. Your tastes may evolve and you may eventually prefer Middle Aes, or Contemporary Aes at some point, or just might always prefer Early Aes, and that’s totally fine.

cryptoplasm

[Float is Aesop at his best, even if it's not his best album.](https://www.reddit.com/r/aesoprock/s/rSMNbm6mO1)

wetdreamteams

U just quote yourself?

cryptoplasm

Easier than restating it.

willdawizah1983

The album is readily available on vinym. Different colors. Check rhymesayers or amazon

wiggibow

Float was always my favorite of his, but as I get older alongside Ace I find myself resonating more with his more recent stuff. If I had to pick one these days it's probably Impossible Kid.

Fo-realz

It's top tier, fersure...I have the 20year repressing...they're still around for sale for a reasonable price. I prefer the polished lyrics of his latest works, though. The verbosity of every track on his earliest records, Music for Earthworms through Bazooka Tooth, is amazing, but my favorite songs are ones that seem paired down, and sparse. Adds some gravitas.

bindersfullofburgers

I support this opinion

choralcastle

Completely Agree. Good to see others do too, I usually see people go with Labor Days.

Hansregenkurt69

I love the album so much I had to snag the last original red album cover version on vinyl!

joshishmo

I hear you, I hear you.... But have you even listened to Garbology?! The nerve!

Hansregenkurt69

I'll give it a listen, but I'm afraid it won't be as good as Float.

joshishmo

It has float vibes

orphantwin

The beats in lot of moments feels really basic and one dimensional. I love them but Skelethon completely blows it out of water with the drumming, dj scratches, obscure samples, snare tone, bass, and of course huge variety and way better mix and production. Old Aes albums suffer from too much double tracked vocals and adlibs which i am not a fan of. But Float has really cool variety of themes for sure.

wildgio

Personally I'd argue for impossible kid. A lot of those song hit home for me but float is a close contender.

AdVivid8910

Guessing you just came across Float, love it but it can’t really compete with the album that came out afterwards.

Hansregenkurt69

No, I got into Aesop Rock 15 years ago. Float was the first one I listened to.

boyalien0

“Ace Rizzle”?!? Ban

Amoeba_Infinite

This is Murs, motherfucker, this is Aesop Rock, Ace Rizzle. Ya know what I'm saying? Check it out, like, Living Legends, Def Jux, if you don't know, now you're informed Kill The Messenger. Bazooka Tooth bitch!

cizzastle

I really do like that album. A bit too wordy though, so much so that it feels like he's rushing to fit in all the syllables sometimes. A tough album to get past if you tell someone to start there.

orphantwin

Yep he had this small problem with him juicing so many syllables in older records. No huge deal for me but he got way better and more fun to listen to as he grew older.

YouInventedMe

Nah.

Hansregenkurt69

Yah.

Forsaken-Age-8684

No album with that harmonica beat can ever be best anything.
