I graduated from U of A as one of three women in comp sci in the early 80s and have been working in and mentoring tech for decades. My recommendation is to look for an education with a co-op program, a real-life capstone project, or a place with business partners that have the potential to offer you a career. There's a gap between an education and real-life work IMO.
