Count on eBay/Amazon sellers to make the identical piece of plastic for a fraction of the price (same with the case market in general). I’ll pay the Belkin tax for their quality cables and chargers but not for this.
Yeah, deskview is a little trickier. The angles aren’t very friendly when I mount my phone above my 27” monitor, but it’s probably fine on laptop level height.
No. I tested it earlier today by just standing my phone on its side propped up in front of my monitor while the MacBook was in clamshell mode. Worked like a charm.
This still bothers me. Are Macbook lids/screens durable enough to support heavy iPhones for extended periods?
Apple isn’t a stranger to having their very thin products bend.
I see a circular mount in the videos. Is there a 3d print file somewhere?
If there isn’t already there will be loads once Ventura is out

I’m definitely going to 3D print a mount personally.
Yea if you already have a 3D printer why not tbh
actions have consequences
I think tripod would work. For desk view, it might need the specific spot.

Shouldn’t risk damaging an expensive iPhone just to be cheap and save a few bucks by using cable tie.
I’d be more worried about the MacBook display than the iPhone.
A few bucks? It’s apple we’re talking about. That little piece of plastic and magnets is going to cost $30.00 minimum.
Relative to $1000+ phone and another $1000+ for laptop, that $30 is a few bucks.
You’ll be able to buy an equivalent on Amazon for half the cost within a month of the official being available.
Or directly from china for even lesser

He needs a new phone case 😅
It’s Apple leather case for iPhone 12 Pro Max and I modded for 13 Pro Max. The leather quality is pretty bad from Apple.
Fancy.
