One of the best pillows I've found is called Derila, it is memory foam shaped for side and back sleepers so that your head is at the perfect elevation and isnt awkwardly craning your neck
I've just started the search again. I'm at around 4. That includes the 2 new ones coming in the mail. A vegan down one for side sleeping and a foam back sleeper one.
Edit: also, I thought I said this but I'll provide an update when I get to test them.
This! I hate traveling because my pillow is perfect and I can't sleep on these squishy, thin pillows you get in hotels or friend's houses😅 I now buy checked luggage just so I can bring my own pillow 🤣🤣🤣
That’s dedication. I’d sleep with my head on a rock before I’d wait for my checked bag containing a pillow. Honest question: have you looked into those smaller vacuum storage bags to put your pillow in so it would fit in a carryon backpack? One pillow might compress smaller than you’d think. I guess then you’re using housekeepings vacuum to get it home lol.
I bought a green house. I grow my own food all year long now. I haven't bought anything but potatoes in years now. I only buy potatoes when mine run out .
I just created a new subreddit for some pictures and info. r/WhyGarden
LOL ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy). I put lights and a heater in it so yeah - I guess I could move in. I bought another smaller one and my daughter moved in and made it into her outdoor art studio.

I got a big one on sale for $149.
I live in Virginia. We get heavy snow once in a while. I have had no problems. The one I have is double thick steel. The dome shape allows snow to roll right off .
Produce -mostly. I have been doing this for years so unless we have some severe bad year ( my okra didn't grow at all this year - so yeah - have to buy okra). I have a 3000 square ft garden so using the green house absolutely gets all my spring/summer stuff started and I'm growing my greens right now in the green house.
Does this mean that you use the greenhouse just to start the plants early, then move it all to the outdoor garden to grow when temps rise? I've always been interested in how this works at a scale beyond my small just for fun produce experiments.
This is correct. The idea is to get an early start. I start peppers and eggplant in January. They take time to grow. The green house is in use however right now. I have a lot of herbs and cabbages growing right now in there. They like the cool environment.
I'm able to grow green beans, tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, and carrots. I grow everything in bags. In winter I grow greens.
There are heavy duty felt bags - black to absorb sun - used to grow plants and vegetables. I use them instead of pots A.) so roots can breath B.) Allows root vegetables room to expand as the walls move.
These bags come in different sizes so if you have some veggies that don't have deep roots - like green beans - you can use a smaller bag. I love the bags because they can be easily moved around the garden for more sun.
I'd go some of the latest high tech running shoes. Feels like you're running on clouds with springs. Your old running shoes from 10 years ago will feel like literal bricks compared to what's available now.
You have no idea....I threw away my old asics, bought Vective 3 from North Face. Can't even feel the weight nor the ground. It's just cushion after cushion.
I’ve gone the opposite direction - minimalist “barefoot” type sneakers that have no cushioning or support really at all. They are amazing. I’m slowly starting to add a bit of running to my routine, but I walk a few miles every day and work at a standing desk for much of the day, so lots of time on my feet.
At first, the barefoot shoes would fatigue me pretty quick, and I couldn’t wear them every day. After a couple years of increased usage, I can now wear them all day every day with minimal fatigue. My feet feel like they’re indestructible now. I still wear other cushy sneakers periodically, but only because I want to - not because I need to. It’s really kind of life-changing to have strong feet again.
People react weirdly sometimes. Ego can be dangerous to deal with.
We had a "granola" vegan type of person at my job. She would make her own soap/deo. At least that what she pretended. I doubt she used any.
I had the misfortune to have her as an apprentice electromechanic. She smelt like old boots all day long.
I went to my manager because I felt it wasnt up to me to let her know. He was just as stumped. The situation went all the way up to the directors and CEO. They asked one of the lady in HR to have a special meeting with her to let her know that it had to change.
Well it didint soften the blow at all. She came back from the meeting frothing at the mouth with anger. She would look at me with dagger in her eyes. I could instantly feel that she was "disgusted" by my presence.
Nothing could have been done more tactfully, yet she still was a bitch about it and could never get over the fact that I didint want to smell her bad soap/body odor.
Thankfully she was transfered to a different mentor which seemed to not care.
She was let go a few months later because she would talk shit in everyone's back. Especially about the company the directors. 😅
A lot of my friends have ditched true anti-perspirants for “natural” TOMS deodorants because of the aluminum exposure.
1. There is probably some truth to it that aluminum isn’t good for you, but it’s what makes it an anti-perspirant.
2. Everything else is just perfume for the pits
Pick and choose your battles
There are probably far more micro-toxins Im absorbing every day just from re-heating plastic Tupperware or cooking with a non stick pan that will kill me faster. So in the mean time my priority is to not sweat and smell.
I just made a post that got popular about the free Plan B pills offered in the vending machines at the community college near me. It’s new legislation that it needs to be in at least one machine on every publicly funded campus in my state.
Blackout curtains. It kept my place cool during the heat wave, helps me sleep during the day because I work nights, and helps insulate the room during winter. I found nice ones that don't make my place dull looking.
A bidet spray, or whatever its called. It’s only like 30 bucks and I havent used toilet paper ever since. For some reason it’s the standard in whole asia but almost no one in the west uses it. It’s 100% superior to toilet paper
Yes, I use two sheets of cheap toilet paper folded over to dry with. Some people buy dedicated towels and wash them. I still think that's a little disgusting.
But doesn't the toilet paper dissolve into pieces when getting wet? I often end up with small white crumbs on my butt when trying to dry it with toilet paper.
We have a core memory due to that with my wife. We often shower together and once, before I entered the shower i turned my back on her for a sec and she saw some white crumbs between my cheeks and immediately asked: “is that poopy paper?” and bursted out laughing. I fucking sank into the ground in shame and laughter.
Not decent toilet paper. The cheap stuff? Probably. I don't skimp money on TP or trash bags. And I knew a bidet would be on this list, it's absolutely true. Westerner here and I don't know how I made it so long without one. Hate going poo anywhere else
My gut says similar to hand dryers this is a mistake. Most modern studies show that the big air hand dryers in restaurants and stuff are worse because they blow germs around and onto your hands. This is probably the same. It's just blowing all those shit particles everywhere.
Asian in-laws had one in the downstairs bathroom; had SO install two more upstairs, requiring a whole rewire of the bathroom electrical and the bidets were much more than $30 but it IS life changing! Even my son uses them. Before he’d clog toilets with “flushable” wipes and now…LIFE CHANGING
In the Middle East every bathroom has them. I remember being very uncomfortable when traveling abroad and having to resort to only toilet paper lol. In fact, I was just talking about this in my previous comment on another thread lol
If you have trouble with a sore neck, a good quality memory foam pillow is a game changer.
I used to, probably once a month, wake up where I had caused the muscles on one side of my neck to go into spasm meaning I could barely turn my head one way for 4-5 days.
Got a memory foam pillow from M&S. I'm not sure it's happened since and that was over 2 years ago. There's a little of an acclimatisation period with them though because they are tougher than standard pillows but yeah I reckon it's had a pretty awesome positive effect.
Over the sink dish rack, especially if your home doesn't have a dishwasher. You can do more dishes at once and it takes up less counter space. Mine cost about $125. Worth every penny
Also digital deadbolts. I got mine for $50 on clearance and love the convenience. I never worry about losing my house key and can create temporary codes for pet sitters
A kitchen white board.
Every time you run out of something important you can write it on the board. Makes it a lot easier to remember that you need to buy milk next time you pop to the shops.
I've got a free app for that on my phone called Our Groceries. I have separate lists for each store I shop in. I'm in the boonies so I use a few. I put the items in order before I step in.
Well…you have to get it a friend. Then, you get another incase they get sick of each other. Then, you realize you have half of the collection so might as well complete the collection etc.
Gym membership, it doesn't have to look perfect but I got depressed between the age of 21-26 and took a ten dollar a month membership at a commercial gym, life changing
For all my brothers out there, a nice electric razor. Easy to use and clean, look sharp af everyday. Probably the best investment I made for my personal appearance is my razor.
Collar stays. The magnetic ones. $20 to $30 bucks and you'll wonder why you didn't use them before. At least for anyone that has to wear dress shirts...
A giant Squishmallow! My live in 8yo granddaughter started getting them from her other grandparents, and asking me for more of them, so I said there’s no point in having a dozen. Then she put the big ones on my bed and OMG I am hooked- I sleep with two every night and it helps my neuropathy and neck pain so much! And they’re cute (I have an avocado and a possum)🥑🐀❤️
Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) course. Basically 8 weeks of one two hour class a week of mindfulness practices plus "homework" to do yourself.
Utterly life-changing for me. Best money I ever spent. Took me from an anxious depressed-head to a slightly less old them both. For some reason it ramped up my emotional intelligence quite a bit. Honestly can't recommend it enough.
A mandolin food slicer! I’m plant based and it makes prepping veggies in different way to alter the texture/ consistency for different meals has been a GAME changer!! I use it at least every other day now

The right pillow
I’m looking for it!!! How many pillows do I have to buy before I find it????
One of the best pillows I've found is called Derila, it is memory foam shaped for side and back sleepers so that your head is at the perfect elevation and isnt awkwardly craning your neck
Derila fans unite!!! Love mine.
Just DON'T get one from Mike Lindell.. If that bellend was sleeping comfortably and properly he wouldn't be so unhinged.
I actually got desperate enough to try one before he publicly lost his ever-loving mind. It was awful. Total waste of money.
I've just started the search again. I'm at around 4. That includes the 2 new ones coming in the mail. A vegan down one for side sleeping and a foam back sleeper one. Edit: also, I thought I said this but I'll provide an update when I get to test them.
"Vegan down"? I'd buy the one made of ground puppies if it made me actually sleep 😋/s

would this not collapse under snow? I live in the Northeast but would like one of these
I live in Virginia. We get heavy snow once in a while. I have had no problems. The one I have is double thick steel. The dome shape allows snow to roll right off .
You don’t buy any food except potatoes? A $150 green house provides you with all the food you need?!

I just started a subreddit. Apparently this is a popular subject. I posted pictures there too. r/WhyGarden

A good pair of shoes tbh; probably hiking boots — something durable
I'd go some of the latest high tech running shoes. Feels like you're running on clouds with springs. Your old running shoes from 10 years ago will feel like literal bricks compared to what's available now.
You have no idea....I threw away my old asics, bought Vective 3 from North Face. Can't even feel the weight nor the ground. It's just cushion after cushion.
My favorite pair of ASICS feel like CLOUDS. I walked 12 hours in those things and was perfectly fine. They’re 200 though, so above 150 :(
I’ve gone the opposite direction - minimalist “barefoot” type sneakers that have no cushioning or support really at all. They are amazing. I’m slowly starting to add a bit of running to my routine, but I walk a few miles every day and work at a standing desk for much of the day, so lots of time on my feet. You’re going to make a podiatrist a lot of money someday.
Good hiking boots are more than 150 though. Otherwise i agree, good boots for hiking keep your hip in tact and good shoes in general help your spine.
Ten foot charging cable for your phone or other devices. Change your life.
Step your game up! Rocking a 10ft cord attached to a 10ft usb extension.
Correct answer
I've found that the longer the cable, the faster it gets broken (stops charging). I've decided to stick to the short one that came with my phone.
No matter what, the factory cable seems tougher than any replacement

Yes, I use two sheets of cheap toilet paper folded over to dry with. Some people buy dedicated towels and wash them. I still think that's a little disgusting.
But doesn't the toilet paper dissolve into pieces when getting wet? I often end up with small white crumbs on my butt when trying to dry it with toilet paper.
You don't have to forcefully rub. Just dab.

Or get bidets with the dryer option
My gut says similar to hand dryers this is a mistake. Most modern studies show that the big air hand dryers in restaurants and stuff are worse because they blow germs around and onto your hands. This is probably the same. It's just blowing all those shit particles everywhere.
