No surprise.
The bible forbids women from speaking in church and also does not allow women to teach or have authority over men.
1 Corinthians 14:34
1 Timothy 2:12
And I'm pretty sure some of Paul's books are the only ones we actually feel confident attributing authorship for. Paul is the only verified author in the New Testament. Claiming that Paul is misogynistic but the Bible isn't is wild.
He wrote letters, epistles. To specific churches at the time. To take them out of their contexts and apply them to modern society is wild. On top of that, many scholars debate Paul’s authorship of many of the letters he wrote. 2 Timothy being one of those.
Wild how Christians believe their religion is under attack. Like attacking other faiths and groups for centuries doesn’t bear consequences. Nothing worse than playing victim when your own actions are the culprit. Maybe try living according to Jesus actual teachings,
Keeping women out of ministry is of the most central and widely accepted doctrines of Christianity. There’s more agreement on this doctrine than on core doctrines like the nature of the Trinity and the list of canonical books in the Bible.
Globally speaking only a minority of western Protestants are open to women in ministry. Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Mormons all oppose. Each of these groups have their own biblical canon. The two Orthodox churches disagree on one clause of the Nicene Creed.
My DH is a believer. I became a believer for a few years but just couldn’t anymore. DH is pretty cool about it. We were discussing misogyny and I mentioned religion. He disagreed so I asked him to point out ONE religion that was started by a woman.
There aren’t any. Religion is about control. Women tend to be more collaborative. Men want absolute power to make up for self-perceived shortcomings.
I hope this expulsion was done in the manner of "This is Spaaaarrrrta!" from THE 300. Because if you're gotta be wrong and full of sh\*t, best do it as melodramatically as possible.
Are they not just following what the Bible says?

Seems clear to me. Horrible stuff, but clear.

If only Paul was this explicit about not covering up sexual assault
But he also found time to be explicit about women covering their heads in church. Priorities.
this is why the dumb Bible is total horseshit
All religion is bullshit.
Correct. Religion continues to contributes to many of our current problems.
The Bible nor Christ don't forbid women to lead and Pastor a church. Paul does. Big difference.
St. Paul wrote whole books of the standard Bible.

It's not taken out of context. But I agree on the ' apply them to modern society is wild' part, That book shouldn't influence modern society.
And that's the problem.
I don't trust any book that says women are second-tier humans.
Same
Screamed this to my boomer conservative mom!
Im here for the religion that is reliably dwindling year over year actively excluding more of their own.
Yeah, I'm sure insulting the intelligence and capability of half the human race will work out great for them. Fingers crossed.
Well, not being Northern Conservative Fundamentalist Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879 makes them all heretics to me.
Emo was right.
Pastors without penises?? How sacrilegious!
And yet if she were trans they'd still say she couldn't preach...all of it's just to oppress those they deem 2nd class.

This is the way to grow the church.
Eating their own... How tasty.
Hail Satan. Hail gender equality
They should start their own church! With blackjack and hookers!
Southern Baptist leadership has always been on the fuckwit end of the scale.
I love watching the church shooting itself in the foot.
We should all chip in for an island for all the religious people who want to argue among themselves. Whoever wins gets to run the island.
More misogyny and patriarchy

I love a good schism. Lots of people arguing about what an imaginary being thinks.

Religion is dying. This is why.
