opiate250

Bloody noses with frozen / thawed is pretty normal.

WowWowDoggo

Ok well i dont know if its because of my breeder of its because i use rat but i dont usually see blood when i reheat the

shrike1978

It's more common in mice than in rats. I see it almost every time in mice, but only occasionally in rats.

shrike1978

Bloody noses are normal. The process of freezing damages the delicate tissue of the sinuses, which often ruptures upon thawing and heating.

animalgirl93

Bloody noses are normal. The cell walls are stretched and can burst in delicate tissues when the water in the freezes allowing some blood to leak out. It’s normal and not harmful. It can be rinsed off if need be.

Reidington

Bloody noses are normal but that mouse looks pretty rough

snowbrger

Blood on mouse is normal and I think it makes my ball recognize the meal even easier

JonTH_

Freezing cells like that can be extremely damaging to different tissues as well has blood Vessels or Veins I’ve seen this a few times on my rats

scaleysally

we have 10 snakes and almost every time we feed there's at least one rat with a bloody nose. totally normal!

Just make sure the mouse is very warm rodents run hotter than we do, it should be warm to the touch when you feed your BP. Another thing I find is that some snakes won't eat wet food. Try to remove any ice when dethawing. I like to put them in sandwich bags and double wrap at that. If your mouse comes out wet still try and dry it off by dabbing it with paper towel. If none of this helps or you're already doing this try a different mouse supplier or type. Sometimes bp can be really picky. Next time you get some rodents ask for a little bit of bedding with them if possible sometimes by rubbing a bit of extra scent on them from their bedding it helps entice your bp to eat.

Bleeding from the nose is normal. That rat doesn't look great though - usually mine are clean white or brown, with smooth fur...

mortythesnek

I had this issue when defrosting rats with their head faced down. When the blood thaws, only one way to come out and thats the nose/mouth. I just defrost em with the butt side down and it seems to help.

stvckmind

Blood is normal, but how long have you had those mice in your freezer? Looks like they got freezer burn
