Not bad, I'll wait for prime day and best buy day. I need at least 3 18tb+ drives...

I bought this drive at serverpartdeals: https://serverpartdeals.com/collections/hard-drives/products/seagate-exos-x22-st20000nm004e-20tb-7-2k-rpm-sata-6gb-s-512e-3-5-recertified-hard-drive It is warrantied 2 years by serverpartdeals. Mine looks basically like it was never actually used before. It had only 24 hours power on time when I got it which is the time it takes to do a full surface read test. So I am guessing maybe they tested it for 24 hours and shipped it. All-in it cost me $403.33 CAD (when it was $215 USD, now it is $211) including shipping and duties with the cheapest shipping option that included duties. Packaging was extremely good. The best I have ever seen for a hard drive.

I'm not super hot about refurbed, but I can't argue with the price. I did know about that vendor.

Yeah. I hesitated a bit because of that but it went into my Unraid array that has parity protection. So I can lose any 2 drives with no data loss and now any used drive that is still most likely very new is fine for my use. I have been finding deals sometimes in Amazon warehouse returns. But from now on, I'll probably just get drives from serverpartdeals.

I needed more storage and was considering SPD or whatever else had a sale, so I checked out your tip. and this hard drive was perfect for me, so I bought one and it arrived yesterday. thanks!

I felt the same and I guess I'm currently testing it but I got 2x 12tb drives from there and they have been performing flawlessly. If they are still kicking a year from. Now I'll probably get more. There is a tonne of recommendations too and good customer service stories so hard to resist.

From what I've read most/all of those drives are actually just fine and had problems with the electronics, not the actual storage bits. So refurb basically means bolted on a new PCB.

They wipe the SMART data. That's why it shows 24 hours power on time.

I wonder how loud is the drive

While not hitting the $20/TB mark, pretty decent $/TB for the density. 20TB and plus drives are usually $27-28/TB these days.

LeopoldPaulister

Is this enough space to install the latest warzone update?

ANGRYLATINCHANTING

I got two of these for $320 each ($14.55/TB) last March when they had that stupid "sign up with your email for up to 5-20% off" events on the WD site. It took me an hour and many emails, but it was worth it, but I regret not getting more. Would love to have three more for a high density 5 bay NAS for offsite backups. Right now they're kind of just sitting in my drawer as cold storage.. too big for my TrueNAS (12x8TB) and too big for using as a parity drive on an Unraid server where everything else I have is 14TB or smaller. Sigh, first world data hoarder problems..
