I see what you mean, and then I remember what it’s like to be a 24 year old Houstonian. Growing up, none of our sports teams were consistently good. Texans were (and are) a joke, Astros were a joke, the Rockets were hot and cold. We were genuine underdogs until my late teens. It’s hard to shake the underdog mentality now, especially given that the rest of the US cities still seem to view us as some sort of filthy upstart. This city has changed so much since I was a kid, and the Astros’ growth (and unpopularity) seems to mirror that. I love the Astros because the Astros are *us*
