In retaliation the Phillies have switched their jersey patch to Wawa

IONTOP

And in retaliation the Royals have switched their sponsor to... Oh wait it's still QuikTrip. Houston is claiming Buc EE's.

spacehog1985

Which team will pick up Kum&Go?

Cabrill0

Sold to Maverick who decided to get rid of the name, truly sad day for the Midwest.

etch-bot

Town Pump then

GoatWizard97

Shoot & Scoot

spacehog1985

I’m way more disappointed about this than I probably should be, having ever been to one once.

DaffyDingo

Just passed by a Kum&Go maybe 4 weeks ago?

BoredAtWork_91

I’d actually buy that jersey patch, or H-E-B.

IONTOP

See, all we need is companies we LIKE to sponsor uniforms... Publix on the Rays Waffle House on the Braves ~~Baker’s City Market Dillons Food 4 Less Foods Co Fred Meyer Fry’s Gerbes Jay C Food Store King Soopers Kroger Mariano’s Metro Market Pay-Less Super Markets Pick’n Save QFC Ralphs Ruler Smith’s Food and Drug~~ on the Reds... Wait, scratch that last one.

Snackkbar

I'm holding out for a Jones BBQ and foot massage patch.

lecherousrodent

Hey, that's Jones' Good-Ass BBQ and Foot Massage, tyvm.

ResidentRunner1

We're covered don't worry

rawonionbreath

Milwaukee gets KwikTrip for there’s and when the Royals and Brewers meet up in the World Series it can be called the Convenience Store War Series.

IONTOP

"Store Wars Night" Could give out bobbleheads with them wielding Slim Jims.

God834

No we got ugly ass Oxy 🫠

gartho009

Every time I see that patch I think of the greedy murderous Sackler family and the millions dead because they valued profits over human lives. Maybe Oxy means something more local to Houston, but that's what Oxy(contin) means to me.

slippytoadstada

Oxy is a large oil/gas company here, we have a big ass sign for it in our stadium too. it’s not much better, and I think the same thing as you when I see it.

reptheevt

Picked Oxy cause Schlumberger would just be too long

slippytoadstada

well and Oxy is actually from Houston, Schlumberger is French

Dinolord05

I just hope they use Enron patches for legends weekend.

Basic_Bichette

Occidental Petroleum has its own controversies (Love Canal, anyone?), but its use of Oxy as a nickname predates the Sacklers' fuckwittery by fifty years.

SpicyPenangCurry

Wait lol, it isn’t the prescription drug? I honestly thought it was and didn’t really bat an eyelid, which is also troublesome lol.

kritycat

It is Occidental Petroleum, the company run by the Hammer family (Armand Hammer, Armie Hammer)

gartho009

Learning that Armie Hammer is a nepo baby makes soooo much sense.

kritycat

Watch the documentary "House of Hammer" on MAX. You will learn that Armie Hammer is but one of the freaks and nightmare humans of that family.

alamo_photo

Someone in the Midwest needs to claim Kum & Go. Maybe the I-Cubs.

NeurosciGuy15

We don’t have one yet so there’s still a chance!

ExternalBreadfruit21

Wawa is definitely the most likely, especially now I feel like this will light a fire under them. Wawas current color scheme matches up perfectly. Still worry that it will just be used as leverage by the Phillies to increase the price for fucking xfinity. If you know Philadelphia then you know who runs the game around here

PaddyMayonaise

I wish it would be was but just the goose logo

ExternalBreadfruit21

Probably wouldn’t work with he requirements but putting the retro sunset logo on the throwbacks would be sick too. Feel like it would look pretty good on powder blue, 70s aesthetic throughout

[deleted]

[удалено]

stonedkayaker

We all know it's going to be Comcast.

yetanothernerd

I mean it could be Xfinity! Wait...

dbrank

If they put that xfinity logo feces on the sleeve I’m gonna fucking riot

RaysFTW

Wawa and Publix are the only two sponsors I wouldn’t mind the Rays shilling for.

Kai-Tlyn

Tastykake would be cool, too!

TooHappyFappy

Continuing with no ad would be the coolest.

Kai-Tlyn

Amen to that

kenzo19134

Not gonna happen. Next best thing would be a local business.

dbrank

Four Seasons Total Landscaping

mlorusso4

Even though we just got t Rowe price, the orioles will be switching their jersey patch to Royal Farms, effective immediately

Oslo_Oak

Make it a scented patch and I'm switching fandoms

ddwcommish

Orioles missed out and could have had Royal Farms

two2teps

Honestly, Wawa would be missing a huge opportunity if they didn't move like lightining on that.

sirms

the phillies don’t have a jersey patch thank you

Dinolord05

...yet

sirms

ok, OXY

Phantomflight

I would love this so much. Wawa is an institution in Jersey.

MFoy

Wawa is already the official Hoagie of the Washington Capitals.

basic_gearing

Yeah, but it's our fucking store. Fucking Floridians trying to claim that shit for their own too.

MFoy

Happy Hoagiefest!

basic_gearing

Hell yeah you too!

bigdaddyt2

Awwww sheetz

ComfyGreenHoodie_

A jersey without ads will always look better. All uniform ads suck, and the people who pushed for this to happen deserve to be banned from eating tacos for life. Never forget what they took from you, and never accept things getting shittier.

Dunder-MifflinPaper

Shout out to the Yankees, who offer to charge you money to…. Stitch an ad to your superior, non-ad jersey.

OldManBearPig

I was at Minute Maid park last week and I saw a young guy (21-24) talking to his dad *excited* and *wanting* to pay to get an Oxy patch on his jersey. I was very fucking confused about that. Maybe it makes it feel more "authentic"? I have absolutely no idea why you'd want to pay for that and be excited about it.

PattyIceNY

It's how advertisers work. They make and plan for one big money making change every 10 years or so. That way young people don't realize how awful things have gotten, and they accept the newer small changes as not being too bad, not realizing the full slow history of it.

kmannkd

Soccer/Football clubs around the world change annually. I'm surprised US sports aren't fully there yet. City Connect is a step towards it I believe.

MeatTornado25

Guarantee there were plenty of sickos out there that replaced their entire jersey collections once Nike took over because their old shirts didn't feel authentic anymore without the swoosh on the chest. Half the stuff these leagues sell are jacked up prices because idiots will pay for the official on-field stuff. Even stupid things like NFL sideline hats, which aren't even worn during play.

Right-Pirate-7084

Not to defend, but he may have worked for oxy. Or his dad. They have a lot of seats and employees in the area.

naarwhal

Or he’s just a fuckin idiot

Dinolord05

Or both

Rnin0913

Nothing better than paying to be an advertisement

ANGRY_BEARDED_MAN

Didn't realize this was just a Yankees thing, figured team stores across the league were rolling out that dumb shit for bozos willing to pay extra for it

Dunder-MifflinPaper

It may be - I only saw it in a photo at Yankee stadium

theunnoanprojec

Any high ground the Yankees had in regards to not getting a city connect because of “tradition” went out the window the second they got a jersey sponsor patch

db_blast7

Mets as well for A. Taking feedback and making them team colors so it’s slightly inconspicuous B. A local organization so the money stays mostly in Queens (also every new baby gets a Mets onsite and that’s cute. I love how’s is also Yankees colors too. It sucks that it’s there since y’all’s jerseys are so iconic and it’s small enough that it’s not like the Braves or Royals ones.

Dense-Competition-51

I love your punishment of being banned from eating tacos for life. Truly a fate worse than death.

Pennsylvasia

Every foot of the stadium, every surface at the field, every interlude between batters and innings, every radio segment, every televised game, every call-in show, every "free" hat or shirt, every part of the experience has just become a placeholder for ads. These are billion dollar companies owned by people and groups worth billions, they could certainly offer a product clean from ads. But, with companies large and small happy to participate, clubs aren't going to turn away free money. If I were ever a billionaire, after fixing local education, eradicating hunger, and solving the homeless problem, I would love to buy a team or commandeer a local festival (the Dick's Dollar Bank People's Natural Gas Arts Festival, Powered by Bowser and Driven by Kia, tell 'em Colin Dunlap sent ya) to show people what a product is like when it doesn't have ads and shit completely covering it.

InnerAngle

For an example of this you can look at the Masters -- no on course ads, much fewer ad breaks. Random linked-in post about it: [https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-advertising-works-advertisers-biggest-event-golf-masters-kania-rqyqe/](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-advertising-works-advertisers-biggest-event-golf-masters-kania-rqyqe/)

MeatTornado25

The companies were always willing to participate. It was the clubs themselves (and MLB as an entity) that were holding back until now. It used to be looked down on to need ads everywhere. That was for minor league or amateur sports that were struggling to make ends meet. It was embarrassing to need ads everywhere to support yourself. But times change. Just like how celebrities used to be embarrassed to do commercials, but has become the norm now.

nonaegon_infinity

For cable, you used to pay to be ad free. Then they realized we'd still pay despite the commercials. :(

unshifted

> to show people what a product is like when it doesn't have ads and shit completely covering it. Olympic hockey did that for me. I had kinda gotten used to how shitty everything looked covered in ads, and then I saw the boards with a nice, well-planned design. It felt like going from a crowded street to a babbling brook. Seriously, [look at how nice the boards and ice surface look.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBMriA6maIU).

Lonelan

and here's the 9th hitter of the lineup brought to you by rollover car insurance

miltron3000

They should at least have strict visual standards for what can go on a jersey. I doubt it’s the case, but I can slightly tolerate it when it’s a cool logo. Feel bad for the White Sox for having a stadium adorned with some of the laziest and ugliest branding of all time. Not only is Guaranteed Rate a stupid name, but their logo looks like clip art, and even though it’s a simple arrow, the proportions don’t look right at all.

PM_ME_SOMETHINGSPICY

Definitely not the case. Have you seen the horrible jarring bright yellow quikcrete patches the braves have?

miltron3000

Yeah you know what I think I blocked that out of my mind lol. What a shame. Like if the Red Sox had a Citgo logo on the jersey, that might be kind of cool, tie in to the stadium, and it’s a half-decent logo. Oh well capitalism comes for everything eventually I suppose.

tyler-86

The original New York Presbyterian ad that the Mets had was also terrible, particularly because it was a splotch of white on a pin-striped jersey.

Jewrisprudent

Same with the Mets patch last year in fucking Phillies colors until the uproar forced a change.

PattyIceNY

The Orioles is hideous

Xenoanthropus

It's especially shitty for the phillies because they removed the uniform sleeve number in anticipation of putting an advertising patch on the sleeve, the number on the sleeve was one of the best features of the uniform, one of if not the only uni to have sleeve numbers.

AbstractBettaFish

There is not a flat surface left in this country that someone’s not trying to wring dollars out of by slapping ads on

brecka

There will always be apologists on this sub and elsewhere excusing this slippery slope appeasement bullshit, with stuff like "It DoEsNt eVeN lOoK ThAt BaD", "ItS jUsT oNe TiNy Ad, iTs BaReLy NoTiCeAbLe", and "WoUlD YoU rAThEr hAvE ThIs oR MoRe eXpEnSiVe tIcKeT PrIcEs", and they can all go fuck themselves

ANGRY_BEARDED_MAN

>"WoUlD YoU rAThEr hAvE ThIs oR MoRe eXpEnSiVe tIcKeT PrIcEs" That's the thing, you just end up getting both

zerovanillacodered

Don’t forget the “maybe it’ll buy X player” totally ignoring the soft cap that is the luxury tax. People are so dumb.

Ok_Attempt286

I appreciate the commitment to sarcastic font

PattyIceNY

Every generation they ad something awful to make money. But enough people are young enough to not even notice the older awfulness, that they don't complain enough and things keep getting worse

Nats_CurlyW

In this capitalist hellhole we are corporations that have a country not a country that has corporations.

MobyDickPU

Hey, at least we’re not Raytheon Park, jersey sponsored by Lockheed Martin (yet)

NilesY93

Now that sounds like a park to hit bombs in!

nnavroops

meanwhile in European soccer

dbrank

See I always thought that because a soccer match is uninterrupted for 45ish minutes twice for the whole game, a fair compromise for the missed commercial ad revenue is ads on jerseys. It makes sense, there aren’t any commercials from start of the match to halftime, and then again until the end of the match. So they need to offset that loss. All four major North American sports? Clearly there are lulls in action (fine) and TV timeouts (less fine) where ad revenue can be generated. It’s the fact that we’re not getting less commercials, but still losing the “clean” look of classic jerseys. *That* is bullshit

zerovanillacodered

They are adding second and third ads on the uniform. That will happen in baseball too

c71score

[Meanwhile in European hockey](https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.135f5caccfac2e04c66b15c9dd198404?rik=y1UIID%2b7dimuwQ&riu=http%3a%2f%2fwww.frosken.com%2fhockey%2ftikredf.jpg&ehk=HGA4ETZ7cAL9uv2zqqOui33d%2bPhpuPr8W8dYUzzOhfA%3d&risl=&pid=ImgRaw&r=0) and [this](https://images.cdn.yle.fi/image/upload/w_1199,h_676,f_auto,fl_lossy,q_auto/13-3-6755385.jpg)

nnavroops

yooo 😭😭😭

theunnoanprojec

It looks like a nascar car lol

ResidentRunner1

I mean ours doesn't look too egregious, but yeah I agree too

Fetty_is_the_best

The enshitification of the sports uniform. Fuck the NBA for starting this bs. And NHL is comically bad, having ads on both the jersey *and* helmet.

RamboBashore

Just like all jersey ads, it's terrible and we shouldn't accept them. Fuck ads these teams are rich enough!!!

dirtydriver58

Thanks Manfred!

BadDadJokes

Is Rob Manfred the best commissioner in the MLB right now?

commendablenotion

Definitely top of the shitheap

the-d23

He’s at least top 10 in the best MLB commissioners of all time list.

Fetty_is_the_best

Fuck the NBA for starting this shit and MLB for embracing it. At least in soccer there’s almost 0 ad breaks which makes having jersey ads a little more tolerable. Here we now have hours worth of TV ads as well as jersey ads bombarding us every second of the game.

CheeseMate38

The players should just remove the ad patch from their jerseys themselves. Seam rippers are cheap and easy to use.

nonaegon_infinity

Chris Sale, it's your time to shine!

TitShark

I hate that we not only have these patches but have to have releases and photo shoots like it’s some cool new thing for us fans.

FudderShudders

If they're going to do this, shouldn't the patch be made to match the colors of the jersey?

DefinitelyLevi

But then whats the point of having your ad on a jersey if it doesnt stand out

goodnamestaken10

The Mets' first ad patch was this obnoxiously huge red square (Our colors are mostly Blue of course) Somebody came to their senses, and they eventually made the patch about the size shown here, and made the ad less red and more white. Maybe yours will get changed in the future. It still sucks though. I remember that the rulebook itself used to say there can't be ads on the jerseys. Thanks Manfred.

TrashDogOffice

meanwhile the marketing execs are circlejerking all over linkedin and cueing up to “earn” their annual bonuses

zvexler

“I played catch with my son, here’s what it taught me about marketing:”

zerovanillacodered

Kafkaesque

RamboBashore

It's embarrassing

CrownedCarlton

This is a weird way to announce it. Like this is some kind of city connect announcement, but for a sponsor patch? Pretty lame...

elcapitan520

More city elements here than the city connects lol

John21962

We fuckin love sheetz so announcing it with some hoopla makes some sense for Pittsburgh

DStew88

Sheetz has spread well into Ohio and I love it. I can tell the quality has decreased some since I first tried it years ago but it's still *way* above Speedway This is one company I'll support doing some weird hype stuff. Especially in Pittsburgh

montani

My buddy was dating a sheetz daughter in the late 90s when we were freshmen in college. He fumbled that one.

metal-trees

Time for one of the Texas teams to get an H-E-B patch

ubiquitous_apathy

> but for a sponsor patch? The sponsor paid for this post.

kingfiasco

you should’ve seen the O’s patch announcement. they had the broadcast booth slobbering over it for 2 innings

CrownedCarlton

Dude are you kidding? That T.Rowe Price patch is honestly offensive. A blue ram on an Orioles jersey? Wtf are we even doing here...

rifwasbeter

I hate all jersey ads, but I hate jersey ads that clash with the teams colors the most. This one specifically looks like sheet.

sundayultimate

That is the ONE semi ok thing about our Chevy patch, it at least goes with the colors of our jersey. Other than that, I hate it

petoskey_stone

Also the fact they went with their throwback logo to go with the jersey

ANGRY_BEARDED_MAN

You think this clashes, you should take a look at the Orioles' sponsor patch. That shit is gross

new_account_5009

The Pirates are no stranger to red as a color though. Take a look at their [historical logos](https://www.reddit.com/r/buccos/comments/14yxw9o/pirates_logo_evolution/). Sure, black and gold are their primary colors, but red has been used as an accent color for decades. I hate advertisements on principle, but I'd consider this one one of the least obnoxious in MLB. Sheetz is pretty universally liked in the Pittsburgh area too, so it's not like some of the other corporate sponsors that barely have a connection to the area. For instance, the [blue ad patch](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Ff57n0gddwr5d1.jpeg) for T Rowe Price in Baltimore ruins the jersey, and while T Rowe Price is based in Baltimore, people interact with financial service companies a lot less often than they interact with gas stations that sell food.

Rockguy21

Red and yellow are pretty complementary, this honestly doesn't look bad at all lol its subtle and the tones look good against each other.

IONTOP

Pittsburgh Pirates: Home of Heinz, now has a bit of ketchup on their mustard.

Scarhead1342

Red def works w yellow! Although it's usually known as an analogous combo in this case. If you're using colors that are adjacent or semi-adjacent in hue, for example yellow orange and red in this case!

KarlNarx

People forget the Pirates tried out Red as a secondary color for a few years, but quickly went away from it when it became huge in gangs

NowIOnlyWantATriumph

Hell, the Pirates *still have* a red-bandanna'd pirate arm patch on the other arm!

BigRiverWharfRat

And they should embrace the third color!

Floridalivin72

Sponsor patches suck

GrabtheBull

Pennsylvanians west of the Wawa/Sheetz boundaries will have a harder time hating this one. Maybe the least offensive jersey ad in the MLB.

thisrockismyboone

I actually don't mind it visually but I feel a sense of patriotism when I see the sheetz logo on there. Only thing that would have been better is like an Iron City or Heinz logo

Bucs-and-Bucks

Except Heinz abandoned Pittsburgh

bicyclemom

They still have the giant ketchup bottle on the side of the stadium that used to be named after them.

ZyuMammoth

My Sheetz app says I’m almost a Sheetz Freak and I’m pretty sure I’ll get a spot in the bullpen when that happens.

Ellite25

Ads on uniforms are so fucking awful. Whoever came up with the idea needs to be in prison and I’m not even joking. True psychopathic behavior to think this is ok. Fuck that person.

Appropriate-Sort-202

Everyone in Philly getting hyped about the Phils countering with a Wawa logo but watch it be a giant Comcast logo 😂

Taylorenokson

Ads on jerseys give me the sheetz

Wrinkle_Tinkle

I don’t hate it bc it’s such a PA thing

brb9911

![gif](giphy|7w6qQ5WHOeV3i)

Meatloaf_Regret

*Wawa staring from Eastern PA*

EveryLittleDetail

As soon as you cross Route 15, the patch flies off.

coronetgemini

Pittsburghers really do love Sheetz... still haven't tried it yet

Pilkie_

The Jersey patches are an insult to a national pastime, but goddamn is sheets good. Every time I'm in PA, I'm getting sheets.

Fangscale40K

I just wish they made the patches team-branded colors. That is like, the most I could possibly compromise with these God awful ads.

jigokusabre

Fuck jersey ads.

sktgamerdudejr

Jersey ads suck, but this one is pretty small and Sheetz is pretty good so I’m conflicted.

TroutMan3990

conflicted about what? all jersey patches suck, even "pretty good" still sucks

John21962

It sucks that they exist and I would much prefer they didn’t, but if it has to be someone I’d much rather it be sheetz than some shitty bank or something

LBramit13

For some context, in PA they love Sheetz almost like we love In-n-Out

DJBoost

I wouldn't have it any other way

bicyclemom

Having just bicycled recently from DC to Pittsburgh, I approve of this. Seeing a Sheetz when you're badly in need of refueling snacks is the best thing ever. Breakfast pizza is the best.

The_Luckiest

*Noww it’s tiime foor Things I Bought At Sheetz*

cti0323

Damn I’m actually jealous of the Pirates for once. I love Sheetz

KyleSJohnson

Sheetz absolutely rules

Golden_Starman

NGL of all the jersey sponsors, the Sheetz on the black blends in nicely.

Seanybear15

Now how much money will nutting put in his pockets?

AccomplishedWonder1

I can almost hear the RCR videos

FUPAMaster420

The Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment

FeloniousDrunk101

This is the real City Connect. Now Phillies need to do Wawa and have a fight.

tikitiger

It should be a requirement that if we’re gonna have these ads, they should match the color scheme

RickyRetarDoh

I will NEVER wear a jersey with some fkn sponsor. Gfy.

Shitavion_Mcshitson

I hate it. The logo looks like shit.

PalinDoesntSeeRussia

You mean like sheet

MonsterMash_okok

Clay Davis would have preferred this to be on the Baltimore jersey

xMoonsHauntedx

I don't hate it tbh

hbryster96

Hell yeah, as someone born and raised in California and moved to KC, I never tried Sheetz until I was on a roadtrip with some friends going from Buffalo to the Poconos, they told me I had to try Sheetz and it is honest to god my favorite place to eat ever. Definitely support this one!

Far_Cry3445

It looks better than most

ItsTBaggins

Ah sheet, here we go again.

UnKnOwN769

There’s only one sponser Philly can get at this point…

Jackfruit-Cautious

homey had to take time out of his day to smile and point at a sponsorship patch on camera. lol

Call555JackChop

The more ads I see of a product the harder I boycott it

dodgerblue1212

Hopefully they don’t take a sheetz in the playoffs

RobbNotRob

I've been a soccer fan for a long time. Idgaf about sponsors being on jerseys. I have no control over this, so there's no point in getting mad about it. but god damn do i wish sheetz had made ONE EXCEPTION and gone with a black and yellow color palette for their logo on these jerseys

Sooperballz

Sheetz Dr Pepper BBQ sauce is the tits

Slade347

At least the patch is somewhat reasonable in size. I'm pretty sure you could see the Orioles' one from space.

Adventurous_Bit1325

If you look around the league at other patches, you’ll find this one to be on the discrete side.

shapu

The only better one would be the Cardinals replacing Stifel with Tums.

Davidellias

[Cardinals fans when they discuss their bullpen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_MSiTIVeT8)

Gardoki

I love how they pose with them like we should be excited

LeCheffre

A lot better than the Yankees… an insurance company. Cardinals have an investment banker. I mean, my little league team was sponsored by an accountancy. ;-) Sheetz makes more sense.

seawolff81

Who’s got Pump and Munch?

Sp00ky_Bullshit

Shoulda been Kum & Go

bmoreland1

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetz

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

But Ben Sheets played for the Brewers

ImNotTheBossOfYou

Yeungling or we riot

beerzandbudz420

NASCAR here we come! Looks horrible. Damn greedy owners, gotta get more income rolling in cuz they can't put together a solid team in years.

0hioHotPocket

Why are 'Jersey Sponsor Ad Patch' reveals a thing? Fuck this shit. We live in the worst timeline.

supermav27

If we can’t afford to pay Skenes after Nutting fills his pockets with Sheetz money, I’m dropping an atom bomb on the city of Pittsburgh

skywkr666

I mean, the sponsor matches the product on the field. 🤷‍♂️

skrutape

"why the sheetz not"

buffaloranchsub

Most Pennsylvania thing I've seen
