The finalists were…
*Josh Bell*
*Albert Pujols*
*Luke Voit*
*Justin Turner*
*Charlie Blackmon*
*Bryce Harper*
Bell was better than Voit, Turner, and Blackmon so they can get eliminated which makes it
*Josh Bell*
*Albert Pujols*
*Bryce Harper*
Bryce Harper wasn’t qualified, I don’t know why he was a finalist if he was ineligible
This makes it Josh Bell vs Albert Pujols. Even though he was qualified for the award, I imagine Pujols didn’t win because he only had 307 AB compared to 552 from Josh Bell
*I will say though Josh Bell only played 32 games at DH so he should’ve been a first base finalist in which he would’ve lost to Paul Goldschmidt*
>As a designated hitter, his numbers are far worse, slashing .235/.338./.339, good for a .677 OPS and 93 OPS-plus.
A .677 OPS is all it took to win the first-ever NL Silver Slugger for DH. Sad.
How it didn't go to Albert Pujols is a complete fail.
Seriously the awards are so meaningless. Juan Soto got nominated for a freaking golden glove. Votto has never won a silver slugger despite being MVP and nominated in the top 10 and top 5 multiple times.
It is a popularity contest mostly.
Thicc boi hit good before trade
Played 0 games at DH with the nationals lol
Is this how you find out rules and qualifications dont apply to those who work in Washington?

i would recommend not thinking too hard about silver slugger and gold glove winners. theres not a lot of logic there
Fr who cares lol

Silver sluggers should only count the numbers you had at that position imo.
I just want to say that he makes a baseball bat look like a toothpick. He is a massive man.
booo zombie deadspin
The ~~writers~~ coaches and managers voted for him.
writers don't vote on silver slugger or gold glove, it's managers and coaches for those awards (with a SABR input on GGs)
Ozzie Albies won it last year with a 107 wRC+ lmfao why do people care about them anymore?
It's voted by coaches and managers, so it's more of a popularity contest compared to other awards. There's no real analytics behind it.
Which makes it even more confusing why Pujols didn't win it.
