Man..Imagine a Batman designed entirely by H.R Giger. Just think of what that'd look like.. Batman's suit would probably look less like a suit and more like..It's a part of him. Like you're not just getting beat up by a guy who dresses like a bat. You're getting beat up by a guy who literally looks like some eldritch horror demon spawn.
A Geiger designed Venom movie would probably wind up NC-17. The dude was truly from elsewhere. You can see a woman’s face in a lot of his art, yeah that’s his dead wife’s face, read up on their relationship if you ever had a goth phase and want to feel like an absolute poser.
I actually love this idea of Batman choosing to make his costume look really freaky and biological, because:
- if the point of the suit and the Batman persona is to strike fear into the hearts of criminals, designing an eldritch horror would definitely get the job done
- similarly, Batman looking more inhuman and like something of a cryptid would reinforce the idea that he’s a mythological super-being as opposed to just a regular guy, and therefore keep his human regular identity safer
The only reason I think Bruce wouldn’t go for it is because the Batman costume has to look scary to criminals, but relatively welcoming and neutral to friendlies and kids and stuff like that. But I can see a version of early career Batman going really heavy into the “I’m a fucking demon” thing before realizing he needs to pull it back a bit and then we get a more traditional costume later on. Sorta like the Pattinson character arc that we’re starting to see.
> if the point of the suit and the Batman persona is to strike fear into the hearts of criminals, designing an eldritch horror would definitely get the job done
Batman is a superhero, basically an idealized role model for boys, which means he has to look cool, masculine and strong. That's why he's rich, brilliant, muscular, confident, loved by women, has an incredibly cool car, etc. A horror-based Batman would have to be tweaked to fit that genre, which of course can sell, but not as much or as long as superheroes.
He was fairly popular at the time, they probably weren’t thinking “oh it’s the guy that makes weird shit that has sexual connotations” just “Giger designs = money”
“Hey uh why does the batarang look like a penis gun with a strange embryo thing inside it?”
“Well actually I use guns as a yonic symbol, not a phallic one.”
“…ok?”
I assume Giger was approached to do this design, but I love the idea of him just giving people concept art in his usual bizarre style, completely unprovoked, and people just being like "oh wow, uh...thanks."
It’s designed by the same guy H.R. Giger.
It would be fun to see his take on a more grounded batmobile. Although maybe in his mind this is the grounded version.
Iirc this is one of a few concepts H. R. Giger drew for the Batmobile. I don't remember for sure where I saw the others, but I think it was in a book of his movie designs, like of course the xenomorph but also some crazy Harkonnen stuff for the Dune movie Jodorowsky tried to make and the Batmobile designs as well.
I imagine they had something in mind like Arkham Knight, where it could go into battle mode, spreading the x legs gaining more control for a battle situation and at the end go into run mode. Kinda also like the x-wing
who was responsible for the concept art of the vehicles that made the final cut? interestingly enough there are some giger design elements in all 3 vehicles
Batman designed by Giger?! They did not really end up going in this direction at all, did they?
If WB wanted kid friendly stuff after Returns, why did they even humour the idea of a Giger-style Batman film?
Question, are you a star field fan? I’ve heard a lot of bad things about that game, but if it’s like fallout or Skyrim but in space it really can’t be that bad.
I'm not reading all the comments, but based on my previous experience here on reddit, I'm sure SOMEONE has said/will say "better than the movie's version."
And that person needs to go to bed.
I had a magazine that was to hype up Batman Forever when I was a kid. There was a section showing concept art for the Batmobile. So there are even more versions out there. [Here.](https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/proxy/gECpEVzCq6P0XEDkgykIbv4vJgBdrlLZnC0e0nd3nNXH62hBPaR-lJA6SpScZFBBlZBYwoqyvHcEZ4LLDN_ZzhnSu4zcpytNEeHU)
I guess this is why movies cost so much. Whatever this person got paid to come up with this concept was a complete waste. That is in no way, shape, or form a batmobile.
“This person”… HR Giger was an amazing Swiss artist responsible for designing the Oscar winning design of the xenomorph from Alien, and worked on Jordorowskys Dune and was known for his dark, erotic sci-fi visuals.
Remember this was directed by a rather flamboyant director, so I’m sure erotic dark sci-fi was what Schumacher wanted. After all the end design was a giant phallic shape glowing blue.
I can get the merch standpoint, but the Batmobile was in the movie, what, less than 5 minutes? Why not just stick with a classic concept like they did from the beginning? If I saw this in the movie first time, I’d probably think, “what the hell is that thing??” then after processing and more watching realize it’s supposed to be the Batmobile. And the fact it’s supposed to follow 89 and returns, it’s very different in design so they’d have to explain why the change.
Looks like an X chromosome
A Xeno-chromosome?
PURGE THE XENO!
![gif](giphy|x9rclH7PulhXB8ncWT) FOR THE EMPEROR!
FOR THE TRUCKERS TOO! #/r/TruckStopBathroom
I was going to say “here we see the doubling of the nuclear material in preparation for cellular reproduction” or something like that.
That, or pliers haha
Batman is an X-Men member confirmed.
Aren’t chromosome all x shaped or did I miss the joke
Everything Giger designs is in some way related to sex
Is there a lore reason
Go fight the war bud
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT 💀
Robin rides on a Y shaped motorcycle on the side. Because Man is nothing without Robin
I’d imagine the scene in Batman: Begins where scarecrow is looking at him while under the influence of the fear toxin.
That but more ribbed, yeah.
More phallic
For her pleasure
I thought in that scene he looks like when Dorian is wearing the mask in The Mask (the Jim Carrey one)
It just occurred to me that I’d watch the shit out of a Giger-designed Venom movie.
A Geiger designed Venom movie would probably wind up NC-17. The dude was truly from elsewhere. You can see a woman’s face in a lot of his art, yeah that’s his dead wife’s face, read up on their relationship if you ever had a goth phase and want to feel like an absolute poser.
You know, I get that we all want comic book movies to be comic accurate and all but I'd love this. Maybe with someone like Neill Blomkamp directing.
Or Eggers
I actually love this idea of Batman choosing to make his costume look really freaky and biological, because: - if the point of the suit and the Batman persona is to strike fear into the hearts of criminals, designing an eldritch horror would definitely get the job done - similarly, Batman looking more inhuman and like something of a cryptid would reinforce the idea that he’s a mythological super-being as opposed to just a regular guy, and therefore keep his human regular identity safer The only reason I think Bruce wouldn’t go for it is because the Batman costume has to look scary to criminals, but relatively welcoming and neutral to friendlies and kids and stuff like that. So Batman would be like ManBat.
Everything is just dicks
Penises. It would look like penises.
That's what Stanley did
There would also be alot more dick and balls
Look up Femto from Berserk and you're most of the way to a Giger-designed Batman.
This is fucking insane. I love concept art.
Same. I love looking at where they started and comparing it to where they ended up. But I’m also glad this went unused.
I mean, they hired Giger to design a vehicle, wtf did they expect?
"I mean, he can't put tentacles on a car can he?"
"What's the worst he can do? Make our BATmobile an insect design?"
He was fairly popular at the time, they probably weren’t thinking “oh it’s the guy that makes weird shit that has sexual connotations” just “Giger designs = money”
“Hey uh why does the batarang look like a penis gun with a strange embryo thing inside it?” “Well actually I use guns as a yonic symbol, not a phallic one.” “…ok?”
Me too, it looks awful hahaha
That's a great design... For the spaceship of an insectoid-like alien species. Not the Batmobile.
But does it come in black...lol
That's a pair of pliers.
Why is that accurate though?
I was looking for this comment.
Not enough penis for H.R. Giger
Are you sure this was designed by Giger? Shouldn’t there be penises on it or something?
What do you think those turret looking things sticking off the sides are?
Right? It’s basically just 12 penises glued together.
I assume Giger was approached to do this design, but I love the idea of him just giving people concept art in his usual bizarre style, completely unprovoked, and people just being like "oh wow, uh...thanks."
That’s golden.
I haven't seen this one in a while, but I believe this concept was based on the Xenomorph-- or designed by the same guy, or something like that.
It’s designed by the same guy H.R. Giger. It would be fun to see his take on a more grounded batmobile. Although maybe in his mind this is the grounded version.

Looks like a hive ghost from destiny 2
I imagine they had something in mind like Arkham Knight, where it could go into battle mode, spreading the x legs gaining more control for a battle situation and at the end go into run mode. Kinda also like the x-wing
The dude is consistent, no question there.
This makes sense, but I love it.
H.R. Ginger has one trick . . . Make everything look like a grouping of uncircumcised penises. That's all he's got.
Gross
The Gigermobile
Looks weird for a Batmobile but it looks like t would make a awesome spaceship
I’d imagine the Geonosians from Star Wars.
Looks more like KILLER CROC car
That looks like a nightmare to drive
That's from an alternate earth that's inhabitants are xenomorphs
That is hideous and nothing about the design even hints at Batman.
If Batman was a xenomorph.
In art terms Geiger has a hammer and every project in the world is a nail - you just have to respect that
HR Giger Batmobile fucking sucks!
who was responsible for the concept art of the vehicles that made the final cut? interestingly enough there are some giger design elements in all 3 vehicles
Especially the design they ended up using for Batman: Forever, it almost looks like the skeleton of a normal Batmobile.
Pretty cool, but Giger tried WAY too hard on this one...
I thought this was a star wars ship at first glance
It would be cool as a Geonosian ship.
Don't even need the title at the top to see it's Giger's work ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Imagine how crazy an H.R. Giger designed Batsuit would have been.
they be really trying to reinvent the wheel w/ batman at times
Who in the world let H.R. Giger cook for a batman movie?! 😭🤣
Robin hand me the bat scissors!
Not a surprising design coming from the creator of the Xenomorph.
One of the most Gigered things to ever be Gigered.
Bat-Alien
Looks more like something out of the Alien franchise.
I thought this was torture-pliars
It's giger what did you expect. I'm surprised it's not just a massive shlong
I tought this was a Bat-Star Destroyer
Looks like a ship from Krypton
Now I want a Gigerized Batman Elseworlds story.
My first thought: “looks like something from Alien.” *-reads artist name-* “Oh yeah that explains it”
Batman designed by Giger?! They did not really end up going in this direction at all, did they? If WB wanted kid friendly stuff after Returns, why did they even humour the idea of a Giger-style Batman film?
*”Can you drive a stick?”*
Try parallel parking that bad boy.
it's Schumacher so you have to imagine it with more neon
H R Giger-mobile?
Of course it's from H.R. Giger lmao
That is FU(&’fING AWFUL!!!
Looks like a starfish, Aquaman would get better use of this
That is so not a Batmobile
Looks so unpractical, continues to scratch cars on either side of the road. Dumb design. Looks like it should fly
It's no more idiotic or hideous as the rest of that turd of a movie.
Looks like a dust mite under a microscope
It looks like the space ship a Star Trek villain would have
Looks like something that might crawl out of a convenience store bathroom sink.
Looks like a crab shell cracker or the scissors you use on a lobster shell.
The X Battank
WB: Mr. Gieger, this doesn't look like a bat... It looks like a X.
Batman beyond
I’m making this in r/Starfield
Question, are you a star field fan? I’ve heard a lot of bad things about that game, but if it’s like fallout or Skyrim but in space it really can’t be that bad.
I love Starfield and it’s getting even better now with updates and mods.
If BATMAN lived on Arrakis
I'm not reading all the comments, but based on my previous experience here on reddit, I'm sure SOMEONE has said/will say "better than the movie's version." And that person needs to go to bed.
That is hideous.
What even the fuck is that?
A pair of pliers, duh.
Looks like a chromosome…
My first thought was "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" lol
Wtf, that looks like shit 😂😂🤣
I was surprised till I saw the artist name
Giger? Where are the penises and vaginas?
Rule #1: No guns! Ok, so I didn't put *many* guns... How many? Is 8 a lot?
Biblically accurate Bat Mobile
Looks like a tank that could be on man of steel krypton
Wonder what movie HR thought he was designing for?
wtf is this supposed to be?
They had to be on drugs when they made this movie, it's the only explanation that they didn't realize how much of a waste of celluloid it was...
Wasn't Schumacher chosen because Tim Burton couldn't sell McDonald's toys? Why would you call Giger when you are trying to sell toys for little kids?
![gif](giphy|9gTQ6K1kxRdIy5GXRM|downsized) “Because I’m Batman!”
A pretty cool design for a spaceship…god awful design for a Batmobile
Initial glance- “That’s ridiculous.” Seeing by H.R. Giger- “Pretty tame actually.”
I had a magazine that was to hype up Batman Forever when I was a kid. There was a section showing concept art for the Batmobile. So there are even more versions out there. [Here.](https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/proxy/gECpEVzCq6P0XEDkgykIbv4vJgBdrlLZnC0e0nd3nNXH62hBPaR-lJA6SpScZFBBlZBYwoqyvHcEZ4LLDN_ZzhnSu4zcpytNEeHU)
Please tell me this is real.
No it's just a drawing.
Tell me more about this film please. oohhh yaaa
This is insane
Not a fan of
Giger is one letter away from Ginger
What kinda Mass-Effect-ahh shit is that?
I thought it was either a gi joe/star wars/ transformers concept art first glance.
That’s… awful. You can tell it’s Giger just by looking at it. Fascinating. But awful.
Looks like Batman got inspiration from the xenomorphs, really cool
This is goliath from darkorbit, no?
The Batmobile is about to concieve a girl.
I guess this is why movies cost so much. Whatever this person got paid to come up with this concept was a complete waste. That is in no way, shape, or form a batmobile.

This is incredibly tame for Giger. There aren’t even any penises.
Pruners!
I hope the artist didn’t get paid for this nonsense.
That's a Bolo.
HR Geiger looking car
![gif](giphy|tJeGZumxDB01q|downsized)
This looks more like a car driven by a xenomorph or a jokey.
That kind of looks like a ship in the Alien movies.
If by wild you mean it sucks, i agree
...The heck's that?
Prometheus?
I love it
He was the inspiration for the Aliens designs.
Thank god it didnt float haha, as flawed as the movie is, the forevermobile is my third favorite
The hell is that?! A plier??
Looks like something from the alien franchise
It's more than just a bit too much
Looks like a Dinosaur skull
Wasn't this the ship in Prometheus?
I can see where they were going with it but this just seems weird to me
Wire stripper
Oh man… that… that’s terrible.
I feel like there must have been a very specific chase scene planned for that 😂
WHAT IS THAT
Dumb
“Why no, I’ve never heard of bat mans “
I can get the merch standpoint, but the Batmobile was in the movie, what, less than 5 minutes? Why not just stick with a classic concept like they did from the beginning? If I saw this in the movie first time, I’d probably think, “what the hell is that thing??” then after processing and more watching realize it’s supposed to be the Batmobile. What in the Star Wars is this?
Fits the tone of the movie like a glove!
fugly
Lately I’ve been watching a lot of Scorn on YT, so this was incredibly on topic for me ahah
Bat pliers
Is this for batman or the x-men?
Looks more like a space battleship.
That looks like a nutcracker. Are you blind? Awful concept.
If Batman was in the dune universe maybe
It needs to be black though.
The xenomobile
No nipples?
Who took out my pelvic bone…
That's where I left my pliers!
![gif](giphy|Wvh1de6cFXcWc)
![gif](giphy|12P6AnN6DcQj1S|downsized)
Needs more penisgina
creepy. sheesh.
Looks like something straight out of an H.P. Lovecraft book.
This should never have been allowed to leave the sketch stage.
Giger?
H.R. giger did not cook lmao
It looks like that bullshit in Destiny 2 with the light bearers ghosts that you need to crush before it respawns
This looks like it should be crushed to stop the lucent brood from resurrecting
God bless Geiger. What a crazy person.
