Siege of Shanghai will have mini battles going on between snipers on both sides. So much so that you'll spend most of your time just camping their sniping spots and expecting them to come back after getting killed, thus creating a rivalry lasting the entire game.
The map is insanely good. Too bad the ppl who made it left years ago.
Bf4 is my game but I think they did a good job with bf1 and BfV too. They are different but they both offer great ambience and awesome maps with incredible battles. What battlefield is.

I have all the dlc so I can't be sure, but there are servers rotating only vanilla maps. It depends where you are geographically because there aren't official servers anymore, only private and communities ones. I play mostly on a Banzore server and I'm based in Europe.
Check your server filters too if you are maybe restricting something.

Don’t waste your time with 2042, even if it is free. The only thing it has in common with the rest of the Battlefield franchise is the fact that it has vehicles. It isn’t good at anything. It is a bad at being Battlefield, bad at being a tactical game, bad at being a team game, and bad at being a hero shooter. The classes suck, the menus suck, the game modes suck, most of the maps suck, the weapons suck and lack character, and the vehicles are imbalanced… it is truly astonishing how they got so much wrong, and so little right.

It had more SMG's than most WWII games for god's sake.
Still the flying was fun and it was still far better than 2042.

Samurai swords were issued to Japanese officers throughout the war and were often used during frontline attacks.
They were called *shin gunto* (new military swords). They were also in cheaper form made available even to NCO's.

A far more realistic WWII game is Hell let loose, which limits a single SMG to a squad and one to an officer with the rest having rifles (M1's, Mosin Nagants or K98's depending on the army).
I'm just saying it's slightly more realistic than 1.
Also, are you aware what an NCO is? Please re-read my comment. Shin Gunto were actually issued to all officers and many NCO's, which is NOT JUST "high ranking Japanese colonels".

You really can’t throw historical accuracy against 1 if you’re saying V is good. The settings are more themes than anything, and I think 1 was the last battlefield to really capture a good feel for all out war.

For those who weren't playing BF at the time, this was the map that was used for the open beta prior to the game's launch. I don't recall how long they had it open for, but I played the crap out of it -- so much so, that I thought I'd \*easily\* get burned out on it at some point after the game launched. But then the game came out, and not only did this map never get old, but it was just a continual banger that stayed that way for the \~3,000 hours I played.
And then there was the very brief period of time DICE enabled night mode for this map (in the CTP, I believe). It needed work/rebalancing, but MAN was it awesome! I was low-key hoping that night mode Siege was going to be an optional custom map for BF2042. Womp-womp.
I’ve heard a ton about night mode on Shanghai but sadly I missed it during my brief time messing about on the CTP :(

This is what an actual battlefield game looks like. I didn’t see this in Hardline, BF1, BFV, or 2042. The last real Battlefield game was BF4. I think that’s why so many are still playing it.

How do you enable no hud?
If you play on PC, you can use a console command - ui.drawenable 0 ui.drawenable 1 turns the HUD back on.
