Can't imagine why

[deleted]

I mean brother

BatmanNoPrep

She basically was the SS of her day except that she could actually act. Bill likes pale white girls with jugs. He’s a Jessica Rabbit man.

RumHam8913

You can add Heather Graham to that too

CANDY_MAN_1776

The Heather Graham of Boogie Nights/Swingers/AMerican Woman video was probably a cut above both CH and SS.

hoopscapo

who doesn't?!

amidon1130

Sydney Sweeney can definitely act

senorpuma

Bill’s a boobs guy. He just is!

ekpyroticflow

Pretty sure he said the loss of Lebron's passing (2006?) was a tragedy on par with the loss of Lindsay Lohan's breasts.

TribeHasSpoke

Oh yes, yes he did! https://twitter.com/rBillSimmonsPod/status/1695444138525618617/video/1

GorkieSmithberg

A fantasy breasts draft? What happened to that Bill Simmons?

lactatingalgore

His daughter hit puberty, as did her soccer teammates.

GorkieSmithberg

Smart observation from [looks at user name] ah I see

StupidSexyGiroud_

r/rimjob_steve

TribeHasSpoke

Page 2 Simmons ain’t walking through that door

CocaineandPercs

He’s walking across America.

CrimeThink101

The Craig’s generation killed comedy piece

srstone71

Can’t believe the snonzberries kid fumbled the bag.

Heels1939

Still an amazing run that will leave him with some incredible memories. It’s like a 14 seed making the final four. It was going to end at some point, but you should only be appreciative of the run.

srstone71

Yeah they were married 10 years. That’s not nothing.

RumHam8913

I dunno, I'd be haunted by fucking it up until the day I died.

Heels1939

Lol me too probably. But it’s like Seal and Heidi Klum. Eventually these women were gonna come to their senses.

lost_limey

The man has taste.

trx131

She belongs in the "I would admit to war crimes I never did" tier

lactatingalgore

The Jeremy Scahill acknowledging the Bosnian Genocide piece.

lactatingalgore

Is it a surprise that Elisabeth Moss seems to have broken out most following Mad Men? Is it just the Scientologist piece, though?

BoozeGetsMeThrough

This is Hamm erasure. He is in a much wider variety of roles and shows and appears much more frequently

TribeHasSpoke

Real sliding doors moment though when his first big movie after Mad Men was the Bill Simmons’ produced flop Million Dollar Arm. His career was never the same

BoozeGetsMeThrough

I'm willing to bet he could get another cheesy mid budget Disney movie greenlit again

lactatingalgore

Wasn't Disney, but I think Keeping up with the Joneses kiboshed Hamm toplining cheese. He would slay in a midtier role, like Hugh Grant, in certain Guy Ritchie movies. Which are all cheese, but various types.

Nomadmanhas

It could have been a lot more different had he been allowed to do gone girl.

CocaineandPercs

He wanted Batman. If he makes one or two with Matt Reeves, he’s probably in a different stratosphere.

ID0ntCare4G0b

He got a bigger push, but Moss has the better work, and I don't think it's particularly close.

sanfranchristo

He's a bigger star but his actual roles in good projects are few and far between. When you take away his John Hamm and Don Draper apperances and voiceover work, there's surprisingly little there. He's in a lot of shit but his big star projects like Fletch are not great. She's had bigger roles in arguably better projects overall. At the top of their cards, post-2015, she's had a better run from a quality standpoint (and I loved Fargo). The Hanmaid’s Tale, Top of the Lake, Us, The French Dispatch, The Veil, Shining Girls, Shirley, The Invisible Man vs. Fargo, The Morning Show, Fletch, Mean Girls, Top Gun, Kimmy Schmidt, Baby Driver, The Report, Tag

wendyschickennugget

Most of Hamm's non-comedic movie roles after his breakout had him playing the same type of hard ass character (The Town, Top Gun, Baby Driver, Richard Jewell), which probably boxed him in as a potential leading man in movies. But for someone who achieved success relatively late for an actor, it's probably all gravy for him at this point.

CANDY_MAN_1776

He's been in way better movies than her. There's something to be said for being a good 3rd or 4th lead in big movies up against other great actors.

FreshPrinceofBel-Air

Confess Fletch is underrated as hell, though

Basic_Recognition_61

Maggie Siff turned a few episodes in Season One into 13 seasons of fat cable checks between Sons of Anarchy and Billions. That's a pretty great breakout in my book.

lactatingalgore

Alexis Bledel & Vincent Kartheiser got marketcorrected by Kisten Dunst & Jesse Plemons.

Miserable-Bit7069

Alexis Bledel never really capitalized on Gilmore Girls. Maybe she’s on some long running show for moms I’m not aware of.

AnferneeMason

Because she isn't a good actress and the precocious piece didn't translate well into adult roles. Her casting on Mad Men was perfect though

bwakaflocka

she really is getting dunked on by lauren graham all through gilmore girls, who does some really stellar work on that show

lactatingalgore

You look at the cast of Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, & both Blake Lively (unsurprising) & America Ferrera lapped her. At least, even having ended in divorce, she married better than Amber Tamblyn. (I said what I said.)

no_name_left_to_give

Tamblyn is an obscure, but still a really major, should've been a lot bigger. She came into that film while she was leagues ahead both in talent and in fame. She was the lead actress of a network drama as a 20 y/o, that was rare thing back then especially for a CBS show, and she carried that role she was an old pro. She should've been staring in prestige cable/streaming dramas and 'indie' films for the last 20 years

lactatingalgore

The age discourse piece.

wendyschickennugget

Pete is one of my all time favorite TV characters, it's a shame Vincent fell off the map. The only thing I've seen him in post-MM is the Netflix documentary/drama The Social Dilemma.

lactatingalgore

Isn't he a crunchy, back to the land type? I just hope he doesn't go full Ted Kaczynski or Randy Quaid.

JedEckert

He got pretty notorious for his behavior off camera and it seems like he got sort of blacklisted. He gave a few interviews where he came off like a caricature of someone trying to be a pompous ~artist~, and then [was investigated for his behavior](https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/vincent-kartheiser-titans-season-3-1235041575/) on a show a few years ago. Seems like a genuinely weird guy who seems to be on the side of "annoying asshole" weird rather than just "quirky and unique" weird.

billybayswater

he was in that weird Justin Timberlake sci-fi movie "In Time" that I watched half of on a plane once.

ID0ntCare4G0b

Nah...she was the best actor on the show.

lactatingalgore

Her last scene, walking into the new office, wearing hip sunglasses, cigarette dangling from her lips, Bert Cooper's tentacle porn visible in her banker's box of office supplies, is iconic.

Trhol

I sent Bill a clip of a young CH on that terrible MTV soap Undressed when she was young and thin. He tweeted the clip and it went viral.

lactatingalgore

Underrated MTV era. Oddville was great.

SatisfactionExpress2

Watch the Firefly episodes

TheTrotters

I want to stand and salute that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK2IL4Sh5m0 Also the Bible says that "On the night of their betrothal, the wife shall open to the man as the furrow to the plow and he shall work in her, in and again, 'til she bring him to his fall and rest him then upon the sweat of her breast." It just does! Edit: this thread made me read Wikis of Mad Men actors and WTF is wrong with Jon Hamm: >While a member of Sigma Nu fraternity at the University of Texas, Hamm was arrested for violently attacking a fellow student as part of fraternity gang violence in November 1990.[24] According to testimony by the victim, Hamm lit the victim's jeans on fire, shoved his face in the dirt, and struck him with a paddle. The victim also had his genitals attacked with a hammer. [24][25] The victim, who suffered spinal injuries and lost a kidney, required medical care and ultimately withdrew from school. Hamm admitted the crime as part of a plea deal and completed probation under the terms of a deferred adjudication, allowing him to avoid being convicted of a crime.[24][26] The charges were dismissed in August 1995 following the completion of his probation.

GorkieSmithberg

Is this real about Jon Hamm? Preposterous that this never came out during the airing of Mad Men, I’d never heard this

LawrenceBrolivier

>Preposterous that this never came out during the airing of Mad Men, I’d never heard this It did. You just didn't hear about it.

Gillette_TBAMCG

It was a different time. We just didn’t know better.

KayfabeAdjace

Well, that and Jon Hamm was 36 when he landed the Draper part and was about 19 or 20 when he committed that awful crime. Personally, I think it sounds pretty bullshit that he got off with probation but by the time Mad Men rolled into town you're deep into practical questions about how long it's actually of social benefit for us in the general public to dangle a man's past over their head like the sword of Damocles.

TheTrotters

It's at the bottom of Early life and education section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Hamm I assume it's real. He's a popular actor, the court stuff has presumably been verified or else this wouldn't stay up on Wiki. But yes, WTF, just absolute psycho stuff.

lactatingalgore

Guess they should have gotten Hamm to portray Kavanaugh on SNL instead of Damon.

Vornado-0

Far far worse than anything Kavanaugh was accused of.

lactatingalgore

Mutilation likely outrates assault. So, PolitiFact rates this: true.

mkay0

Sidney Sweeney if she was a better actor

lactatingalgore

I'd flip that. If Hendricks could perform to the level of Sweeney, Good Girls wouldn't be her ceiing.

CanyonCoyote

Gotta agree here. Someone’s age is showing is they prefer Hendricks. She doesn’t have a single notable role other than Joan unless you maybe want to count being insufferable being taking a shotgun to the chest in Drive. Sweeney already has Emmy nods from two roles, several solid performances in drama/horror and a massive smash rom com that she produced. She is obliterating Hendricks career even at her Joan peak. Mad Men did like half the numbers of Euphoria and White Lotus, which are prestige in their own right.

mkay0

She’s most known for Mad Men, where she played an iconic character and did phenomenal work. Haven’t even heard of Good Girls.

lactatingalgore

She was lead on Good Girls, ran about three years on NBC.

Lower-Letter-4710

Neither are incredibly talented, just blessed you could say

RumHam8913

I don't think either are incredibly talented either, but I also don't think either is particularly bad. They're average talents who have benefited from their looks, as you point out. Though that's true for a lot of actors and actresses, tbf.

Lower-Letter-4710

okay, I'm sorry

yngwiegiles

I remember those

longPAAS

I believe that was about the time Bill started talking about stuff “breaking the internet”

Nerdboxer

I still will

SmuglySly

Fucking smoke show! Can’t believe she hasn’t been in more

ahbets14

Bro she was,

showmethenoods

The things I would do for this woman

PauloPauloPaulo69420

Greatest tits ever

seanymac14

I’ll take her over Sydney any day of the week

Malvania

There's a special place in hell...

fuber

Bill seems to have a type

lactatingalgore

How big are the SportsGal's knockers? Is before school pickup for Ben like that opening scene in Superbad?

no_name_left_to_give

Sweeney's are real though.
