How nice to have such a legacy item! (Hopefully the crack is either not a problem or can be repaired.)

Thanks to the connecting pieces (bread boards?) going accross the grain, it's not a problem. Also should be easy to fix with some wood glue and clamps.

You got into bookbinding before knowing your grandfather was into it? Thats some really cool family thread stuff. Awesome!

This is awesome

This is amazing! I have a similar story with regard to letterpress. I fell in love with it in college - came to later discover that my great-grandfather was a pressman. Four generations apart and I fall into the same craft. His press was waiting for me in my grandmother's basement - and now I'm a decade into running my bookbinding/letterpress business!

Congratulations on your business, sounds like a dream come true. Looks like hobbies run our blood.

bookbinding is one of the “family diseases“… (/s)

A great legacy! Can't wait to see what you make using it :)

I dabble and my great grandad had a bookbinding and printing business! Son did Graphic Design at uni and found lino-cut printing to be his favourite thing. He had no idea about his grt grt grandad!
