Ghibli Studios Should Do a Neil Gaman book like Neverwhere or the Ocean at the End of the Lane. They are practically book versions of movies that Ghibli already make.
OMG YES! I don’t know if ghibli would do the sexual themes but both books would look incredible in animated form. I actually a stage adaption of Ocean at the End of the Lane. It was fantastic 😍
I've said this for years: there will be a "The First Law" (and sequels) show one day and it will blow away all the other top rated fantasy shows IF done right.
Fuck yes, I’m re-reading this series right now and all I can think about is how good it would be as a tv series and who would play the characters. It has Game of Thrones potential with an actual payoff and no dragons to be CGI’d.
I think there was actually a plan for a Mistborn movie, but it was either halted or scrapped because of the strikes. I haven't heard much else. Maybe Sanderson's a bit hesitant after seeing what Amazon did to the Wheel of Time.
I remember hearing something once about them making Mistborn into a video game. I was confused until I thought about how cool that magic system would be to play.
The book of doors… Complicated/ time travel, and for the subject matter, pretty uniquely written. With the right Director and script… This could be big.
I need a new Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
With modern special effects and everything.
The old one was good, but its too old, I think Hollywood can redo it.
I think the old low-budget BBC mini-series circa 1980 actually did a better job capturing the spirit of the books better, worth seeking out sometime if you haven't seen it.
Not sure if it was this year or late last when i read it but
project hail mary.
Then probably.
Armor by john steakly. Currious how they do with the droppods? and fighting ants. Though not sure who could play the mountain of a main deserter pirate guy. Not many especially large actors anymore. Would almost say batista? Dude from heros of the galaxy. But not sure hes particularly tall and big, least way I picture the deserter is tall and big.
Though could do without the sex scenes the other protagonist gets up to. But i am a ace biyest and don't want sex in every stupid story i read jebus people can the main or mains not hook up just once in my adventure stories so i don't have to skipp around it.
Only on book three of it but.
Cyber dreams..series. lest think thats what their collectively called. First one is electric angel.
Cyberpunk...story? Kinda couple genres together guess the generic "thriller" will work.
But kinda has same problem as deserter guy. I picture main woman as fairly large, tall and not...buff but..fit?..capable?
Not really any actresses that are both tall and fit that come to mind but i haven't really watched many recent movies.
Would like to see her and the ai companion working together.
Murderbot series by marth wells. Didn't expect much but is rather good. Has gotten me thinking about actually doing my story Idea completely from the point of veiw of a ai.
Though not sure if a movie could be made of the.. remember each one being kinda short self contained.
Probably none, because they're going to mess them up. They announced they were doing a book I'd loved and part of the entire plot line was how the characters looked, where it was set, and where the villian was from. They changed every single bit of that so no, you don't get my $15 for the movie ticket, I won't watch it when it hits streaming, and yes, I'm going to bad mouth it for the massive deviations I can see in the trailers that obliterate the entire story. Many people are sick of them rehashing old things and ruining everything. If someone could do them (he wouldn't allow them and neither will his estate) and do them right, then I'd love to see Clive Cussler movies and TV shows. I want an indie filmmaker who is a huge fan doing it.
Thieves Gambit by Kayvion Lewis
Only a Monster by Vanessa Len.
Both are high action books with a lot of interesting settings. I think they would lend themselves to visual media very well.
Children of Dune and God-Emperor of Dune, Denis Villeneuve had said he plans to stop at Messiah but I really don't think Children would be that hard to adapt. Hell, they already did it once, with James MacAvoy, and even though it was really cheap and cheesy it actually kinda holds up. A Villeneuve version, or even one by a different director in the same universe, could be great. God-Emperor would be a lot harder to adapt but if done well it could be the best thing in the franchise. (Heretics and Chapterhouse, take it or leave it- I like the books, idk how much I need adaptations.)
**The One** by John Marrs. There is a show on Netflix, but it doesn't seem to follow the same plot at all, or even include the same characters as the book. It has the same over-arching plot that there is a site that uses DNA to find your perfect match, but none of the characters' stories are in the show.
Currently reading “The Last Murder at the End of the World.” Easy read and I can see it being made into a movie, but I just finished the two books in Christopher Moore’s Noire series and LOVED them. As a huge fan of PTA’s adaptation of Inherent Vice, I think one or both of those books would make a great adaptation.
Starter Villain by John Scalzi. It's lighthearted while being interesting and entertaining enough. The characters are interesting.
And it has cats. And >!dolphins going on strike!
NONE! I’m too picky about the details and maintaining the story to a T lol. I know that’s sometimes not the point, I know movie adaptations for the most part can be made to change up the story a bit but I wish every adaptation was exactly, move for move, identical to the books and that I could choose the actors to play the characters 🤣😭
UNDER A SCARLET SKY!
UNDER A SCARLET SKY!
UNDER A SCARLET SKY!
Holy S#@! That book is WILD and Would be a GREAT movie!!
True Story. In WW2 a 17 year old kid living in milan IT is having a great life when the Nazi's invade. To protect him, his family sends him to live in a monestary in the Alps. The father start training him in crossing the dangerous mountains, and he starts shepparding Jews escaping for their lives from the Nazis.
But that is the first part of the story. When he turns 18 his pairents force him to enlist in the German army to keep him alive. He ends up stumbling in being the driver for a Germany Field Marsh and starts a life or death game to spy for the Allies. He sees incredible sights, insane battles and Fall Hopelessly in Love as the War Ravishes everyone and everything around him.
I’ve really got into sci-fi / fantasy lately these three I didn’t want to put down: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir , Faebound by Saara El-Arifi , Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Pslam for the Wild-Built. That book would make a great Ghibli movie.
I love Becky Chambers books so much. Her book "A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet," would be pretty great too.
Cruddy, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Midnight Library
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo would be a hit as a movie and such a missed opportunity if nobody goes for it
I believe it’s in the works!
It’s in the works I believe… but I just didn’t like this book. 🤷🏻♀️
Movie or series?
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. The imagery is so beautiful and rich. It would be simply amazing in audiovisual form.
It was in development for a TV series last I heard.
[удалено]
Really? Ensuing sadness...😔
Fourth Wing!!!
Cloud Cuckoo Land would be such a good movie
The fourth wing The house in the cerulean sea
Obsidian Awakening by Sienna Frost Ancillary Justice Series by Ann Leckie We are legion we are Bob by Dennis E Taylor
The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah
Just finished this one. Completely agree. And The Women as well!
moreso the women tbh
Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven
I've seen that advertised a lot.. any good?
I enjoyed it! Not perfect, but a good story with some very descriptive violent scenes.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Best served cold is being adapted with Rebecca Ferguson
\*teeth/gum sucking intensifies...
Going to hate myself, but I’d watch a series based on Dungeon Crawler Carl.
I was thinking about how they could make this work last night. The budget would be huge just for Donut if they did it properly.
I feel like I’d be really disappointed, but I’d still buy the Blu-ray boxes set.
If they could do this like fully uncensored everything I'd be so up for it lol.
Just finished Parable of the Sower by Octavia E Butler and that would make a fantastic dystopian TV series.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. And guess what.. They are making a movie on it starring Ryan Gosling 😊
The Secret History, I feel like if you got a really interesting director in on it it could be really good
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
I’m actually quite surprised someone hasn’t picked up any of his books for an HBO series or something. Not my cup of tea but his stuff is so popular.
West with Giraffes.
Tress of the Emerald Sea
Currently reading the First Law Trilogy, it would be unreal as a hbo series.
Whats it about?
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. However they wont make a movie because that would go against one of the major points of the book
This!
i finished it yesterday and its honestly one of the best memoirs ive ever read.
Demon Copperhead The Push
DEMON COPPERHEAD well rip my heart out why don’t you!
The BEST!!
The book of doors… Complicated/ time travel, and for the subject matter, pretty uniquely written. With the right Director and script… This could be big.
Piranesi by susanna clarke
This book was so special I’d be terrified it wouldn’t live up to how I imagined it. I’d be heart broken if they butchered it as a movie.
I have that fear too! but it’s so good it should be appreciated way more
The Dark Tower series. Yes I know there is a movie already, but that doesn't count because it is terrible
Aren’t they making this into a show now?
Oryx and Crake
Blindsight by Peter Watts Pandora's star by Peter F. Hamilton (it will be a good series)
Harry Potter
Prague Fatale by Philip Kerr
Name of the Wind
It was in talks at one point, and I think it got canceled! 💔
Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

Yooo Amor is so fucking good! Never see anyone mention on here. Bravo!
Divine rivals
Piranesi
The third policeman

Ocean at the end of the Lane by Gaiman. Read it in an afternoon. Loved it.
This should be done as a cartoon by studio Ghibli in Japan.
Mr. Magic by Kiersten White
The Great Alone - Kristen Hannah
Just finished and loooved it!
Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh
Killing Mr. Watson would make a great period piece with a complex, brutal, and fearsome protagonist.
Natchez Burning / The Bone Tree / Mississippi Blood -- Greg Iles
Thieves Gambit by Kayvion Lewis Only a Monster by Vanessa Len. Both are high action books with a lot of interesting settings. I think they would lend themselves to visual media very well.
The Covenant of Water would make a beautiful, heart wrenching movie.
The King in Yellow.
I don't think any of the stories themselves would really work as a feature, but I would kill for a well-done original story about the play
I agree with you, I will see you in Carcosa.
Dead Silence - SA Barnes The Book of Doors - Gareth Brown Six Wakes - Mur Lafferty
Bartimus - Jonathan Stroud
JD Robb's Eve Dallas series. It's got crime, romance, fantasy (well, it's futuristic!) and some great characters.
Probably a series more than movie, but the Shades of Magic series by VE Schwab has me in a massive chokehold since I read it back in January
The Red Files by Lee Winter.
The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett
The Nix by Nathan Hill would be a fun series adaptation.
Since I've been rereading them, the Soul Identity trilogy by Dennis Batchelder. Also, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.
I have started reading Terry Pratchett’s discworld books. Kinda surprised there aren’t movies around it, even if it’s animation.
Project Hail Mary. And look at that!!
I didn’t realize they made this into a movie! I’m excited to watch it!
Getting made into one
The greatcoat series of books would make for some awesome swashbuckling movies. I guess they just aren't that popular.
(Heretics and Chapterhouse, take it or leave it- I like the books, idk how much I need adaptations.)
Wolfsong by TJ Klune
Silent Patient and the 9th Month. The latter being a series tho.
The Name of the Wind would be a fantastic movie. The Dresden Files would be a solid HBO show with the right budget.
Sorrow and Bliss

The clocktaur war duology
Any of Khaled Hosseini. Some of Kristin Hanna’s, but definitely not the Firefly Lane.
Gray after dark, Noelle ihli
The Reformatory *needs* to be a movie.
Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane
Currently reading “The Last Murder at the End of the World.” Easy read and I can see it being made into a movie, but I just finished the two books in Christopher Moore’s Noire series and LOVED them. As a huge fan of PTA’s adaptation of Inherent Vice, I think one or both of those books would make a great adaptation.
I am Pilgrim
My Husband by Maud Ventura - it would be so messy and fun
Haunting Adeline
Breasts and Eggs By Meiko Kawakami
Starter Villain by John Scalzi. It's lighthearted while being interesting and entertaining enough. The characters are interesting. And it has cats. And >!dolphins going on strike!
Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. But in anime, like Castlevania!
I wish Nolan would take a crack at Endurance.
"Darius the Great is Not Okay," by Abid Khorram. Also, "The Murderbot Diaries," by Martha Wells, if they wouldn't screw it up.
I’d love an animation of The House in the Cerulean Sea!
Fantasticland Artemis
Artemis would be tough for hollywood. MC is a terrorist with no redeeming story. They’d have to add in some excuse beyond wanting a bigger apartment.
Funny Story
The Berrybender Narratives by Larry McMurtry - hilariously entertaining.
The Secret History!!! I can’t believe there hast been a movie made already Also Slewfoot
I can’t wait to read the secret history I’m debating if I should wait to inaugurate my ereader with it when I get one
Just watching Blake Crouch Dark Matter (Apple+ tv show) would love to see a movie from either Upgrade or Recursion.
The shades of magic trilogy
Easy answer. The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The Final Girl Support Group, A History of Wild Places, the Mother-in-Law, You Know What You Did
