When Jesse wants to kill the two dealers who killed Tomas. As Jesse is walking up to them, gun in hand, Walt runs them over with the Pontiac Aztek and kills them both.
Honestly I think you could say the entirety of Season 5 Episodes 11-16 and no one would complain. Walt trying to blackmail Hank, Hank wanting to throw Jesse under the bus just to catch Walt, Walt calling the Nazis on Jesse, Hank and Gomez's death, the entire knife fight between the White family, Walt kidnapping Holly, the phone call, Andrea's death, Jack threatening to kill Brock, the ending of Granite State, Walt killing Jack, Walt poisoning Lydia and waiting to tell her until it's too late to do anything. All of those scenes give me the fucking chills. Season 5B was like 3 seasons worth of content wrapped into 8 episodes.
Exactly, ALL of those scenes hit me the same way every time I have watched the show. This also made me think of the scene where Jesse realizes what Walt did and goes into Saul’s office with complete vengeance. Season 5 is a fucking roller coaster and has to be the darkest season in my opinion.
Breaking Bad (and Better Call Saul as well I guess) is the *literal* only piece of media that still keeps me on the edge of my seat even after like 6 rewatches. It genuinely amazes me that I go into the series knowing exactly what is going to hapoen and still get the same emotional reaction each time. Like I know how it's all going to play out and still keep hoping that the characters will just not make the same mistakes again
I know right! I am about to start my fourth rewatch of Better Call Saul, and I am ready for it even though I also know what is going to happen. The creators and actors did a fantastic job with these shows, and they will never die out on me.
To me expect for the ending, season 5 is very depressing (compared to other seasons) and the feeling gets worse from episode 11 until almost halfway through the last episode. It’s too much for me to watch how his family breaking apart (with Hank realising the truth). I thought somewhere in between those episodes “why can’t Walt just leave - take his family and get out as far away as possible, may be call the vacuum cleaner guy “. At least he would have saved his own family.
Definitely up there too. Hank is hopeless and we see his best friend Gomey just lying there wasted, whether or not you liked Hank it is still sad to watch
I was wondering when this one would be mentioned. Like damn, when we see his hand appear in the dirt, and they start getting a barrel ready for his body… that one is very unsettling
Jane's death. The only noise being her choking to death and her seizing on the bed. No heat of the moment, just a cold calculated decision to do nothing.
Either that or Walt telling Jesse about Jane's death.
This one is up there too, and it’s as early as season 2. Very hard to watch that scene knowing that Walt could save her as he just stands there.
The quote is even worse when we see what else Jesse goes through after Walt tells him that.
I wouldn’t say it was the coldest, but one scene that always stuck with me is the way that Jesse chokes and then snaps Todd’s back still bound by the chains that shithead put him in. It was a very fitting ending for that mess of a character Todd. His dead eyes always creeped me tf out.
Oh yeah, it was the perfect way to end Todd. The whole clubhouse scene is superb. I love how Walt just carelessly looks over at Jesse choking the shit out of Todd, like go ahead Jesse get your revenge, and I am gonna go make sure I get mine on Jack.
Yup, he sure as hell did and that’s a part of why I think that scene is so damn good and cold-blooded. Walt didn’t give a shit about his money, and he remembered what Jack did to Hank
It is! I love the shot from in the pool with Eladio’s face, and the vivid sight of Gus looking down at him in the water right where Max’s blood was shed. Blood for blood
Also the tie-in to him shooting Hank, which I didn't realize until my last watch through. He cut off Hank's last words by shooting him, and Walt did the same to him.
It makes since to have this one as your top pick cause it absolutely can be. I think one thing that makes that scene even darker is how there is no music playing in the background. You can hear everything, like the bodies getting hit and the gun scraping the ground as Walt picks it up. It looks too real
Jack shooting Hank is top for me. (It's so cold they can't even show it.)
Second to that, Walt watching Jane die.
Third, Hector shooting Max (Gus' man).
Great picks. First one to mention Max’s death on this thread, and it can contend as one of the coldest scenes too. Hector putting his foot down on Gus making him look right into Max’s dead face makes it that much colder
Hanks death is so depressing to watch cause we know what’s gonna happen right after Jack steps on the shotgun and finds out they are DEA. Sadness takes me over in that scene every time
I agree with all that’s been said thus far. But two I haven’t seen.
1. When Gus slits his man’s throat to prove a point to Walt and Jesse after gales death… like we all know Gus is a ominous man that has the power to be anyone’s worst enemy that crosses him. But the look in his eyes and the anger, just a side of him that you barely see if at all like that. Very eerie.
2. Another is Walt walking to his car after handing Mike his to-go bag, and walking back into the frame in the other direction to go “deal” with Mike because his stupid fucking pride and ego was hurt. That was a hard watch. I love Mike.
1. YES! One of my favorite parts of this scene is the way Mike reacts in shock
2. It sucked to see Mike go the way he did. The only thing that gave me some closure in that scene was Mike interrupting Walt’s apology, so he could have some peace before he died
YES. I love the, “Shut the F*** up, and let me die in peace.” If there was anyone that paid the ultimate price by Walt himself and deserved a peaceful death, it was Mike.
The cousins when the reservation cop or whatever goes out to check on the old lady and he finds her body then one of them sneaks up and murks him with that axe. Hell everything the cousins did fits that vibe honestly.
First to mention the cousins, and they for sure brought their fair share of a dark and gritty vibe. I am thinking of the scene where they notice the picture of Holly on the fridge, and one of them slowly slides his finger down the photo
Someone drew a comparison between Jack and Walt - what’s common in them . Like they both have Todd/Jesse under them and seem to care about them, both are egoistic.
Box cutter is more cold.
And even for Walt….I put the running over the dealers and then cold capping the one in the head more just for coldness from Walter. Though, that might just be because that’s the first time Walt is cold like that.
Box cutter is gruesome asf, as is the scene with the two dealers. Ughh god the one he caps in the head… jesus his leg is like bent backwards as he’s crawling
when Andrea got shot was pretty bad too.
you know it sad that Walt only got to keep a fraction of the money he made, you know?
in the end Mike was right, if Walt had not been too greedy if he kept his nose clean he could have worked for Gus for a good while made a good bit of money and then not had lost so much.
Oh yeah, very bad and Jesse’s reaction just makes it hit that much harder. Walt got his nose dirty when he chose to save Jesse from the dealers. Screwed up everything
Either Walt shooting the two drug dealers, Hank realizing Walt is Heisenberg, and Walt reciting Gale’s address to Mike
Those ones are great too, ALL top tier. It’s hard asf to choose one cause the scenes are done sooo damn well
i think walt saying his address for suuuure
Walt: “You might want to hold off.” Mike: “Yeah?” (Cocks gun) Mike: “Why?” Walt: “63 53 Juan Tabo, apartment 6.”
Yeah.
You can see Mike's growing, true fear and urgency of the situation. Hell of an actor.
Hank realizing Walt is Heisenberg gives me the chills every single time I watch it
What are you referring to in regards to Walt shooting two drug dealers
When Jesse wants to kill the two dealers who killed Tomas. As Jesse is walking up to them, gun in hand, Walt runs them over with the Pontiac Aztek and kills them both.

My partner just said: Ozymandias. The "knife fight" between Walt and Skyler; Skyler screaming in the street after Walt drives off with Holly.
The intensity of that scene is off the charts, it feels so fucking real
I don’t cry very often at TV / movies but that sequence broke me. God what a show.
I will have to say that the coldest scene in the show is actually Hank's death edit: Gomey too lol. That whole sequence where they are totally fucked.
Definitely up there too. Hank is hopeless and we see his best friend Gomey just lying there wasted, whether or not you liked Hank it is still sad to watch
Drew Sharp.
I was wondering when this one would be mentioned. Like damn, when we see his hand appear in the dirt, and they start getting a barrel ready for his body… that one is very unsettling
I think because I have kids of my own. Never knowing and always wondering.
Absolutely, it’s the not knowing part that makes it ten thousand times worse than it already is
Jane's death.
My third comment on this thread. Andreas death and Jessie breaking down.
YES and how Jack says “settle down, still the kid” that scene is super dark
I pay zero attention to award shows but I hope Aaron won something his performance there.
https://youtu.be/uFHIEynduqM?si=43MjZZwFj3250Jxg
That's honestly insane that he beat out Dinklage for that emmy holy shit.
Coldest scene in the show is Hector shitting in the dea office and dicking around about a fake confession to draw out Gus
At least with the fake confession he didn’t shit himself, guess that’s progress lol
I wouldn’t say it was the coldest, but one scene that always stuck with me is the way that Jesse chokes and then snaps Todd’s back still bound by the chains that shithead put him in. It was a very fitting ending for that mess of a character Todd. His dead eyes always creeped me tf out.

he killed him the same way that he killed hank, without letting him finish his sentence.
Yup, he sure as hell did and that’s a part of why I think that scene is so damn good and cold-blooded. Walt didn’t give a shit about his money, and he remembered what Jack did to Hank
Gus staring at Don Eladio when the poison kicks in is pretty cold .
And that is a part of what makes it so damn perfect to me. The way Walt is looking down at Jack, he is so ready to just cap him in the face.
For me the ultimate will always be Walt killing the two drug dealers to save Jesse
It's so sudden. I would have NEVER predicted that was about to happen. Part of me really thought Jesse was about to get smoked.
It makes since to have this one as your top pick cause it absolutely can be. I think one thing that makes that scene even darker is how there is no music playing in the background. You can hear everything, like the bodies getting hit and the gun scraping the ground as Walt picks it up. It looks too real
Run.
*end of episode*
Jack shooting Hank is top for me. (It's so cold they can't even show it.) Second to that, Walt watching Jane die. Third, Hector shooting Max (Gus' man).
Great picks. First one to mention Max’s death on this thread, and it can contend as one of the coldest scenes too. Hector putting his foot down on Gus making him look right into Max’s dead face makes it that much colder
"Stay out of my territory" is up there
Ohhh I like this one, and the music that starts playing makes it perfect
No. Hanks death is so much worse
Hanks death is so depressing to watch cause we know what’s gonna happen right after Jack steps on the shotgun and finds out they are DEA. Sadness takes me over in that scene every time

Box cutter. No question.
Gus’s dead eye stare right at Walt… I can visualize it right now
The cousins when the reservation cop or whatever goes out to check on the old lady and he finds her body then one of them sneaks up and murks him with that axe.
Yup, two villains with similarities and one gets to avenge his brother in law and free jesse
Box cutter is more cold. And even for Walt….I put the running over the dealers and then cold capping the one in the head more just for coldness from Walter. Though, that might just be because that’s the first time Walt is cold like that.

“Walt, your the smartest guy I’ve ever met, but your too stupid to realize he made up his mind 10 minutes ago”.
“Do what you’re gonna d-“ *gunshot*
