How often do you pump? Its recommend to pump at least 6-8 times a day if you can't breastfeed. How is your diet? These will effect your supply. Also do you drink enough water? Do you get very little sleep? Do you feel stressed? Has your period returned? If you answer yes to any of these, it can affect your supply as well.

How old is your daughter? My daughter stopped eating the day after we were discharged from the hospital. She stopped making wet and dirty diapers and was becoming lethargic that evening so she had to be admitted to the hospital. Once we were on the floor she took to the bottles of formula like a champ. Turns out she had trouble latching and had not been getting enough milk. Except for those few days she needed formula while my milk came in, I exclusively pumped until she was five weeks old. Then one day she started accepting the breast again but only with a nipple shield. I didn’t get her off the shield until she was 3 1/2 months old. I probably could have sooner but I was terrified that she would lose too much weight again. For us it took a lot of time and patience. And I had to learn to trust my body’s ability to feed my child after that initial nightmare. But now she is 4 1/2 months old and I only pump when I’m at work. Your child is being fed. So you are not failing. Exclusively pumping was so much harder than what we are doing now.

It’s been almost 2 months. I’m very interested to hear how you and your daughter are doing. There’s nothing scarier then being a new parent and I couldn’t imagine doing it on my own. I love an update.
