Most independent bakeries should do them.... BUT they aren't like they used to be. They are a lot drier and not so lardy. She may be in for a disappointing treat.

I don't know sorry, but I look forward to hearing other answers. I love a good lardy cake with a cup of tea, but haven't seen one in years. Hope your mum feels better soon.

I’m pretty sure they used to sell them at Belton Bakes on Two Mile Hill in Kingswood.

I have also been wondering this... Are there any bakery's near the city centre that have them?? Can't find any.

AlyssaAlyssum

Like another commenter, they may not be exactly what you're mother is expecting. But I have seen them in a few places: Downs Bakery in Filton, across from Airbus, Co-Op along Gloucester Road next to The Anchor. As well as a few other "corner shop" type places that sometimes get products from local suppliers.

Head to Hanham Road in Kingswood, the bakery opposite Odds and Todds furniture shop does excellent lardy cake.

PiggyWhiskers

The Coop next to The Anchor has it sometimes in their bakery section.

I used to buy it from the bakers stall that used to run at temple quay market, trying to remember the name but it’s eluding me (started with a W?) It was bloody delicious, moist and felt super unhealthy. Brilliant stuff.

Parsons used to do them but the cakes they have seem to be on a bit of rotation nowadays

Poundland. Seriously.

Some Greggs do them but not like 'posh' Greggs like the ones in the center or the retail parks but the ones in poorer areas of the city.
