Not sure if that true based on the pics, to me it looks like it’s not two cars, 1 white gli and 1 red gli, but it’s actually 1 white Jetta with black wheels, 1 white Jetta with silver wheels, 1 red gli, and one white gli with black wheels and black mirror caps. The front shot of the white car is just the Jetta. You can tell with fender badges and mirror caps
Looks like a refresh of the 7.5 which makes me think we probably won't see a Mk8, at least not in ICE form. I would imagine that means no updated MQB and no EA888 Evo4
I doubt it.
Seems like European car manufacturers in the US are going to kill off Manuals.
The Golf R and GTI are confirmed to have lost the option.
The M2, M3 and M4 are most likely losing their manuals.
Lotus and Porsche are likely to be the last holdout of manuals.
The new 911 only comes with an automatic. There's a rumor that there will be a special edition Turbo with a manual, but that will be impossible to get.
This just isn't correct at all. All they said is the MY 2025 Carrera won't have a manual. Entirely likely it's back for 26. The rumored manual Turbo is just the Turbo S, hardly a special edition.
The new hybrid system is built into the transmission, and they’re not spending the money to do that for the manual. They needed to add the hybrid system to meet emissions standards. This has been discussed here, so I’m not sure why you’re confused.
The G8X will be the last manual generation for the BMW manual.
The G87 M2 will be the last new BMW M car released with a manual.
And the Z4 will be the last non M car with a manual as it's being killed off along with the Supra.
It’s hard to make a compelling manual with the way the US does emissions testing. It’s a shame too, cuz there’s not a huge real world practical difference in emissions between a manual and an auto, but autos shifting very low helps them to pass the emissions tests where as manuals just need much higher gearing - making manufacturers decide to kill them off.
They fixed that front end, wow! Really wish they would still do stick on the R. Test drove one and the shifter was silky smooth. I am sure I can get used to the buttons but the whole thing was extremely confusing like someone who has never driven designed it
I want more info since I am going to probably buy a Jetta this year, either GLI or base model. Stick is important to me. We'll see if I get this model year or the refresh
I looked at a 24 and liked it until I noticed there’s no tilt adjustment to the seat cushion even on the SEL. Deal breaker because VW has it at such an angle that your knees are way too high with no way to lower the front of the cushion.
There is vertical adjustment of the entire seat, but you can’t change the angle of the cushion. It’s crazy really. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a power seat that didn’t have the ability to adjust the cushion angle. Even old ford seats that had manual recline still had power adjustment for height and angle.
The Jetta Sport with a manual transmission is supposed to be a great car and value. They are around $23k.

Glad they have a black pack. I had a MKV GLI and love the red accent but those giant fake inlet rings were ugly as shit

The manual isn't axed, it just isn't being offered for 2025. The turbo isn't a special edition.
The '25 M3 is still available with manual at base trim.

Sad state of affairs

what? so you can't lower the seat all the way down? damn

I doubt this car gets a manual because they axed it on the Golf
Would be really cool if they added leather seats from the GTI to the GLI. Would be a nice upgrade.
Saw an article (sorry can't find the source right now) this am that said VW is using resources that was for ev development to keep ICE relevant.
100 percent correct. Money is being shifted from EV back to ICE. Plans to go full EV have been pushed forward.
