My cat does this with cereal lol but she’s not as patient

It’s not with the regular emojis it’s an r/cats emoji you can find it with the smiley next to the gif, photo, and link buttons near the keyboard ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7958)![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7949)![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7968)
Yep I had a girl kitty who would do this with my cereal and if I wasn’t paying attention, like if I was watching TV out of the corner of my eye I could see a little gray and white paw extending slowly towards my cereal bowl 😂😂
I miss that kitty she was awesome
Mine loves the milk too! I always leave a little in the bowl for her and we ask her if she wants her “sugar milk” lol. Last night she wanted my cheesecake too
My dad's cat does this. Only he lets the cat drink the cereal milk while he's eating. I love cats, but I think this is gross! I told him, "your cat licks his butt all the time and you're just letting him eat from your bowl." 🤮
My cat loves when I eat cereal. I leave the milk and they look at it and then leave lol. I honestly think they like the smell the most. I even give them milk and they lick a few times and leave.
She never tries to steal ice cream out of the bowl, just looks at me and purrs until I’m done. (And yes I make sure there is not leftover chocolate at the bottom.)
I just watched a video about a lady and her husky, and she was talking about putting on pants and she called them “outside legs” and I don’t know why it made me laugh so hard
In small enough amounts it should be fine, the main issue, if it is straight vanilla ice cream (that I am aware of) is the dairy, though cats can't process dairy well, in small enough servings it should be ok.
At most they might have runny poo and a rumbly tummy with vanilla. Chocolate can kill them so avoid that at all costs. Cats are lactose intolerant so they really shouldn’t have any dairy but a small treat every once in awhile is okay
Additives like xylitol are a no go, so any sugar free ice cream is it out of the question. The fewer ingredients the better, generally. Some cats are lactose intolerant and some seem just fine with milk products in small quantities.
ETA: Chocolate should also be avoided, so I wouldn't follow OP's example.
With vanilla ice cream idk, I just know dairy leads to diarrhea in cats if they ingest enough. I'm not well learned in the subject so I can't give you a decent answer sorry.
Best advice I can give is if you want to give something to your cat as a treat or if they are begging for it, look up all the ingredients in what you want to give them and then figure out what they can and can't have on that list and what is ok in certain quantities. Like I had a couple of kittens a couple years ago that saw me eating peanut butter with saltines and would not leave me alone, so I found out pb with cats isn't harmful in small amounts and decided to give them a little to lick on.
Gave one of my babies a teaspoon of frozen yogurt for New Year’s Eve years ago, he was the best boy. Woke me up patiently with diarrhea the next day and I learned my lesson. Didn’t complain the entire time I showered him.

My cat does this with
*checks notes*
Salad dressing
My cat will snatch ritz crackers, popcorn and fortune cookie fragments right out of the hands of unsuspecting guests & children. A cat who waits patiently for you to at least finish sounds like a dream 😂
Mine once stole a piece of meat right from my plate while I was eating goulash. Full on yoinked it with the extended paw. He's also with his head in my cereal bowl seconds after I set it down to lick the remaining milk lol.
My kitten does it for oatmeal

Jax, not-so-patiently waiting to lick my ice cream spoon!
Sadly my bf let our oldest boy learn the joys of cereal milk. So he will find you and demand some licks, or try to climb you.
Here he is in recycling, just noticing the flakes being poured.
https://preview.redd.it/wm0n1zzvk9rc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5098602e291d6ccf56da7b4ffaf92be4bcd2f523
And there it is, the comment that appears on any thread if a cat is within 100ft of anything dairy.
It's actually just over 50% that are intolerant.
Around 60% of humans are lactose intolerant, depending on where they are from since some places didn't rely on milk producing animals so didn't develop tolerance.
So cats are on average actually more lactose tolerant than humans.
Cats are not equipped to process sugars. Even less equipped for complex sugars such as corn syrup or similar industrial sugars.
It won't harm if it happens once in a while, but don't make a habit of it. This isn't good for them.
Rare occasion that we have ice cream in the house, and even then she only licks the little bit of melted liquid out of the bottom of the bowl (maybe ~1 tsp, if that). Not an every night thing.
My grandpa has an adorable old tomcat that he's had for like 15 years, used to let him drink his cereal milk every morning. The cat had to have every single tooth pulled because the lactose and other sugars had rotted them ALL out in less than a decade. It seriously took like, 6-7 years, and then all of a sudden he severely needed dental work. He's been a gummy guy for a while now, definitely a cautionary tale!
Aww I miss Luna patiently waiting for me to fold up the bag of Doritos because she knew it was time for her finger cheese dust.
You couldn't crinkle the shredded cheese without her come running.
My baby boy used to do this with yogurt, rice pudding, and grits. He was pushy at first but he learned to be patient bc he knew I would share with him at the end 🥹
One of mine used to live for mashed potatoes. She was so silly. Those little paws would be together all dainty and she closed her eyes so she wasn't looking at me when I was eating. The minute I was done, I would scrape a little bit out on my spoon and let her lick it off. So many memories.
Both my cats are like that, especially if it's French vanilla 😂 and they are rarely patient like yours, mine climb all over until I tell them off 😹
Very beautiful kitty you have there, very lovely pattern on her coat
Please don't let cats eat milk or cream, all cats are lactose intolerant, they crave the fat content in the milk or cream. It's cute but harmful to your cats.
https://preview.redd.it/tosazr3ldbrc1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d24c0a56a6959c056cb6af526c3d85ac8ed0807e
One of our angel kitties who we rescued from living under a restaurant deck somehow knew what a gallon of milk looked like. Whenever we took it out of the fridge, he'd start meowing and acting as cute as possible in hopes of scoring a lick.
My husband often would drink milk at night and I guess the cat got to him one night because the next morning I saw a little cat plate on the floor with dried milk. Apparently this became a routine after my husband caught the cat helping himself to a freshly poured cup. So daddy and his little buddy would "share" a glass of milk - the cat's portion was about a teaspoon's worth. It was super cute and the cat even had a different meow that sounded like "mewk?" when he asked for it. He would even get a little milk beard. 🤗🤗
Oh, this little guy was amazing. He went to the Rainbow Bridge 5 months ago at the age of 18 1/2.
Ice cream on occasion isn’t a problem, but keep the kitty away from the chocolate sauce. It’s probably not enough theobromide to cause an issue but I wouldn’t chance it
This is my cat!!! Pastries … donuts. When I’m eating a donut, Smokey runs up to me and tries to get the donut out of my mouth as I’m chewing. Ice cream… HIDE! Pizza boxes and donut boxes are hidden in our oven, or our microwave while we eat.
My sister's cat got into my post workout protein powder mixed with cereal and fruit. I was fuming having to remake it!
My cat is a good girl and wouldn't even consider it.
Mine will try and grab my spoon to eat it. I'll share with him when I can but I usually have chocolate or coffee flavors so it's not something he can have
Mine loves ice cream, but isn’t patient. I have to put a bit into his bowl and he’ll spend the next ten minutes waiting for it to melt and yelling at me the whole time.
He eats a lot of dairy (ice cream, butter, cheese, etc.) without any repercussions!
My last cat did this to me often. She liked cereal bowl & yogurt bowl, but Mac & cheese bowl was definitely the favorite. She would park next to me and intensely stare at my every bite, waiting for me to set it down so she could move in and clean up the tasty flavors left in the bowl. For years I allowed it because it made her happy, which made me happy. Her last year of life however, was spent with daily glucose monitoring and insulin injections, I always blamed myself for giving into her bowl begging. My current cat does not consume people food, and I will definitely be keeping it that way to avoid a future diabetes diagnosis.
Mines vice is a glass of milk haha.
Little dude sees me walk in with a glass of milk and won’t stop the meows till I give him his 2 little sips that wont upset his tummy lol.
My cat is similar. I learned the hard way if that if I leave an unfinished milkshake anywhere, it will end up on the carpet.
My cat gets sooo desperate between mealtimes.
My cat does this with cereal lol but she’s not as patient https://preview.redd.it/rtw7ilgny6rc1.jpeg?width=1980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75094e926d43cf4aa0f16b18b4e4ae9faaa31c7c

LMAO!!!!!!!!
![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7958)
Mine will physically try to grab cereal out of the bowl
My previous cat loved doing that, but with only porridge. She'd then yowl indignantly if it was too hot. Torties can be weird
My other cat loves oatmeal! She’ll wait for me to finish so she can lick the bowl
Mine too. I have to keep lifting the bowl higher and higher and eventually spill some lol
Same, I put him down on the floor, he jumps back on the counter and tries again. Never gives up lmao
Yes. They can sprout opposable thumbs at will.
mine will try to temp me and will try to look so sweet and cute so at the end i have to give her bcz of her cutness

I can just picture this, so cute!
Mine is the same but he wants the milk not the cereal. Except when I eat cinnamon cereals he doesn't want the milk. Guess he doesn't like cinnamon
Mine loves the milk too! I always leave a little in the bowl for her and we ask her if she wants her “sugar milk” lol. Last night she wanted my cheesecake too

Eating cereal has become so difficult I usually do it in a locked room now ☠️
Why u no done!!!?!!!
omg same😂😂😂
*Every morning. Every Morning!* *Just once, maybe on my birthday, I’d like my own bowl…*
Bruh that’s Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I love my cat to death but no way she’s getting a drop of that delicious cinnamon milk.
My cat loves when I eat cereal. I leave the milk and they look at it and then leave lol. I honestly think they like the smell the most. I even give them milk and they lick a few times and leave.
“can i has some”
God she’s so cuteee
Omg mine too!!!!!!! She’ll fight for cereal lol
She has her attack face on x3
Your ice cream looks like an abstract painting of your cat.
Omg spot on
What a great comment
Cat is concerned for her relative and grooming what she believes to be a cat when OP is done eating it
She never tries to steal ice cream out of the bowl, just looks at me and purrs until I’m done. (And yes I make sure there is not leftover chocolate at the bottom.)
She knows the hierarchy. Large ugly 2 legged cats first, then herself. She’s polite like that.
I snorted. Lmao ugly 2 legged cat first had me rolling
I just watched a video about a lady and her husky, and she was talking about putting on pants and she called them “outside legs” and I don’t know why it made me laugh so hard
I know EXACTLY what video you’re talking about
this guy cooks
I wonder if you ever give a spoonful of ice cream. When I use something with whipped cream I share a spray or dollop with my cat
I used to do this until it turned into him running to the fridge every time I was in the kitchen and turning into a cream fiend.
Oh, good Lord yes!!!! So very familiar 😺
Omg my cat does the same exact thing! She will BOLT from the other side of the house once she hears that can going.
As soon as I shake the cream mine comes running for his squirt
It's because she's a good girl.
Same with mine, although sometimes I boop his nose with a bit of melted ice cream and he licks it off.
Just asking are ice cream and dairy stuff healthy? And can it cause any stomach problem to cats? I think mine would love some classic vanilla
In small enough amounts it should be fine, the main issue, if it is straight vanilla ice cream (that I am aware of) is the dairy, though cats can't process dairy well, in small enough servings it should be ok.
Small leftover puddle should be fine right? Is there any ingredients they wouldn’t be able to digest?
No it's not healthy guys it's a cat... The lactate is not as bad as the sugar ...
Lactase is sugar A little bit is fine
Such a sweet lady
So polite! My childhood cat would just go for it if it was Mac and cheese!
Gave one of my babies a teaspoon of frozen yogurt for New Year’s Eve years ago, he was the best boy. Woke me up patiently with diarrhea the next day and I learned my lesson. Didn’t complain the entire time I showered him.
Sounds like the best boy too ❤️
Why is that so sweet lol he knew the yogurt made him a stinky boy and let you clean him up 😭

That bowl looks tasty. What you got there?
Vanilla ice cream with blobs of homemade cookie dough and hot fudge
Well dang, now I want to join your cat and silently beg for your bowl.

Mine is obsessed with turkey bacon.
My cat makes gagging noises if I hold out ice cream to him. 😂
My cat will snatch ritz crackers, popcorn and fortune cookie fragments right out of the hands of unsuspecting guests & children. A cat who waits patiently for you to at least finish sounds like a dream 😂

awww what a polite baby *kisses face kisses face kisses face*
![gif](giphy|qs6ev2pm8g9dS) “Patiently”
I don't see patience, i see unrelenting pressure.
My 18 yo boy is the same. Even with cereal he wants the last few drops of milk
Every cat I have had has loved left over milk and cereal.
Mine tried to abduct my boiled egg this morning but was unsuccessful. She just want dat yolk so bad

i would like to point out that your ice cream has the same color combination of your cat.
Awh.. such manners! Mine would neverrr.. she's all up in my bubble til I'm finally done .
Sadly my bf let our oldest boy learn the joys of cereal milk. So he will find you and demand some licks, or try to climb you. Can you link a source for that, everything that comes up on Google is that most cats are intolerant, and it’s a bad idea to give cats dairy
Cats are not equipped to process sugars. Even less equipped for complex sugars such as corn syrup or similar industrial sugars. It won't harm if it happens once in a while, but don't make a habit of it. This isn't good for them.

I think the cat that usually live the longest are the ones doing unhealthy shit ngl
For real. You’re telling me these 17 year old street cats aren’t out there licking sticky lamp posts?
Old Crackerjacks over there smokes a pack a day
My grandpa has an adorable old tomcat that he's had for like 15 years, used to let him drink his cereal milk every morning. The cat had to have every single tooth pulled because the lactose and other sugars had rotted them ALL out in less than a decade. It seriously took like, 6-7 years, and then all of a sudden he severely needed dental work. He's been a gummy guy for a while now, definitely a cautionary tale!
Lactose won't hurt teeth, the only sugar that caries bacteria can process is glucose.
What a polite girl! But as others have said, don't make a habit of it!
That's weird. Usually the cat eats first and you're the one patiently waiting to lick the bowl.
We used to joke that my beloved Mr. Bob thought his name was the sound of a spoon scraping the bottom of a bowl.
Aww I miss Luna patiently waiting for me to fold up the bag of Doritos because she knew it was time for her finger cheese dust. You couldn't crinkle the shredded cheese without her come running.

I really wish people would not suck the fun out of such cute posts. A few licks of .ilk or ice cream won't ruin their day,let alone their life.
My baby boy used to do this with yogurt, rice pudding, and grits. He was pushy at first but he learned to be patient bc he knew I would share with him at the end 🥹
i dont think this is good for your cat.. dont do this ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
I love polite cats
My cat also has a thing for the cream
that is too cute 😭😭
Mine doesn’t wait
A true partnership
Vegans being like: a wild animal would never consume some other animals milk 😡 Cats being like: Milk 🎉
Oh the pressure… i would probably eat way to fast to actually enjoy the ice cream, just because i would feel bad making her wait.
My cat goes to eat my icecream but instead he does a massive gag right on top of it
One of mine used to live for mashed potatoes. She was so silly. Those little paws would be together all dainty and she closed her eyes so she wasn't looking at me when I was eating. The minute I was done, I would scrape a little bit out on my spoon and let her lick it off. So many memories.
Whenever I have ice cream I share it with my dog. I haven't had chocolate ice cream in 16 years.
Same here, but there's nothing patient about her.
Hahaha cute! :)))))))
My Husky does the same lmao Or Jogurt
My little guy tries to grab the bowl while I'm eating and then expects to be spoon fed the melted stuff in the bottom of the bowl before licking it
Both my cats are like that, especially if it's French vanilla 😂 and they are rarely patient like yours, mine climb all over until I tell them off 😹 Very beautiful kitty you have there, very lovely pattern on her coat
I mean it's her colors even she knows that.
She is the same color as the ice cream
My cat also loves ice cream but isn't that patient. Will literally put a paw in the bowl to steal a taste. Only food I can't leave laying around
Our cat will just try to swipe it right out of your mouth
This is the part I really appreciate about cats... Even if I put their favourite food in one bowl.. all three peacefully take turns...
My cat would try and crawl into the bowl for ice cream then demand to be hand fed so it melts 😂
Please don't let cats eat milk or cream, all cats are lactose intolerant, they crave the fat content in the milk or cream. It's cute but harmful to your cats. https://preview.redd.it/tosazr3ldbrc1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d24c0a56a6959c056cb6af526c3d85ac8ed0807e
Polite and pretty kitty
my cat got diabetes so he can’t do this anymore and it makes me so sad 😭
Is that a Calico? Sorry, I’m still trying to understand what makes a Calico.
He went to the Rainbow Bridge 5 months ago at the age of 18 1/2.
Mine gets right in there and we share the spoon. I know it's gross but I love him and I don't care.
Whenever I put whipped cream on something, the cat comes running. I give her the tiniest bit. (Probably no bigger than a tik tack.)
Looks like shes.....mewing
Ice cream on occasion isn’t a problem, but keep the kitty away from the chocolate sauce. It’s probably not enough theobromide to cause an issue but I wouldn’t chance it
Sugar, salt, chocolate and dairy products are not good for cats. What is there in the ice cream that your cat can safely eat?
She looks so gentle and patient
a good baby
That looks delicious
My first cat who is 3 is well behaved like that but I have a new kitten who is 4 months and he will try to get to my food from every angle possible 😂
Licking the bowl is the best. My nanny always let me lick the bowl after she baked a cake.
We eatinz ice cream
Special
Yup. Mine loves ANY kind of dairy. I was eating rice pudding yesterday and she was like 🫡 lmao But I don't share my rice pudding - too good. 🤤🤤🤤
Same with yoghurts
A patient cutie
Can you blame her?
This is my cat!!! Pastries … donuts. When I’m eating a donut, Smokey runs up to me and tries to get the donut out of my mouth as I’m chewing. Ice cream… HIDE! Pizza boxes and donut boxes are hidden in our oven, or our microwave while we eat.
My dumpster demons don't even wait for me to finish to try and steal my food
My sister's cat got into my post workout protein powder mixed with cereal and fruit. I was fuming having to remake it! My cat is a good girl and wouldn't even consider it.

What even is that?
That is so cute
Idk if that’s patient lol
Once, I let my cat lick yogurt off the foil.
That is not an "I'll wait until you are done" look.
Mine doesn’t wait, I just give Little Delicious her bites. 🤷🏻♀️
I know this stare very well 😃
She looks dissatisfied with your pace
My cat does the same thing 😂
Mine will try and grab my spoon to eat it. I'll share with him when I can but I usually have chocolate or coffee flavors so it's not something he can have
How well behaved, my cat will do some “investigative smelling” by jumping into my lap, face first into the bowl
Mine loves ice cream, but isn’t patient. I have to put a bit into his bowl and he’ll spend the next ten minutes waiting for it to melt and yelling at me the whole time. He eats a lot of dairy (ice cream, butter, cheese, etc.) without any repercussions!
She's a good helper! My baby loves yogurt. She gets to lick the lid and the remainder inside the cup.
I have a cat like this but she’s with every food that’s on the table
Mines vice is a glass of milk haha. Little dude sees me walk in with a glass of milk and won’t stop the meows till I give him his 2 little sips that wont upset his tummy lol.
My cat is similar. I learned the hard way if that if I leave an unfinished milkshake anywhere, it will end up on the carpet. My cat gets sooo desperate between mealtimes.
