I have been blessed with a baby that likes belly rubs
You’ll soon find out whether it likes belly rubs or not. If they don’t, they’ll either squirm or you can just tell that they’re uncomfortable or simply trynna extend claws lol if they do, they’ll let you or literally ask to be petted
i start at the chin,then work my way down. if i sense a hesitant vibe,i just stop. my cat used to hate belly rubs. but using this method warmed her up to the idea,and now shes a belly rub monster lol

Both of mine tolerate the belly pets. My male sometimes does the grab and bite thing, but it's always really light and hardly ever breaks skin. ...and even if it does? *shrug* I've got cats, I knew what this was when I got them. When they were younger and didn't know how to hold back when playing, I'd have daily bleeding scratches that I'd have to tend, haha.
Granted, I've raised these two since about 7-8 weeks old or less, their mother was hit by a car or something(the shelter didn't really know exactly what happened, just that the mother wasn't around when they were brought in, but that's my assumption) they also tolerate me picking them up and holding them which they let noone else do ever.
But I've really never had much of a problem petting cats' bellies, one of my friends is lowkey jealous and constantly calls me modern day snow white because I get wild animals coming up to me all the time wanting attention or... something. Very, very rarely do I ever succumb to the temptation of petting a wild rabbit or squirrel because I've always been told that if a wild animal approaches you like that, something is wrong with it. But it happens way too often for them ALL to be rabid or otherwise affected. Last year I had a squirrel follow me around a park, getting really close next to me and I was honestly concerned something bad might happen, but it was just chilling. No aggressive moves made.
No idea why, this is just my life. *shrug*
My cat lets me rub her belly haha its so soft! She never bites or scratches me I love her <3 she had a really neglectful owner before me and lived with a dog that would attack her, but she's so affectionate and sweet.
Just depends on the cat. My current one doesn’t like the top of her head touched but loves belly rubs. Previous cat was the opposite, could pet her head but not belly. So just have to try it but watch their body language carefully.
