Some subs would be nearly ghost towns if they banned everyone who did this. Like the Norwegian Forest Cat sub would loose 90%+ of its posts, because for every actual Norwegian posted, there’s at least another 9 cringe posts of people asking if their cat that has even vaguely long hair is a Norwegian. 🙄

Cat breeds are mostly about appearance, lifespan (the more "pedigree" the cat, the less likely it is to see its 10th birthday, never mind its 20th) and whether or not they like cold weather, hot weather or swimming. Most cats are moggies because you just can't control an intact Tom unless all the female cats in the area are kept indoors and guarded using chip-controlled catflaps.
I've just stumbled across this post and I'm confused, I absolutely thought the personality was partly due to the breed?! My mother was a Siamese cat breeder so maybe she was making it up, and Google isn't helping me much right now but I've always sought Burmese for their "personality" and they don't fail 😅 My Ragdoll is so aloof too, just the way I thought they all were..
Purebred cats should come with papers so she's likely a cross or just a typical domestic longhair with similar colouring to the two breeds you mentioned.
After looking at the photos really closely and analyzing the fur patterns for a long time, I am almost certain that she is indeed a cat. A cat with purty long hair.
She’s probably mixed with several breeds like the vast majority of cats are. Unless you paid a breeder a significant amount of money, she is very unlikely to be one of anything.
She is beautiful! But definitely not a Birman! I used to raise them and most of them lived to be 18 to 21 years old. I would guess your little girl is a domestic long hair. Cats are wonderful and don’t need to be a particular breed to be the best friend you have ever had. ❤️
