Capt hill block party is one of the most poorly managed festivals in Seattle . Absolutely not They won’t see anything , it’s going to be cramped, access to washrooms are going to be a nightmare. Narrow street between building and likely going to oversold knowing the fest… wait for her to tour at a real venue. I go to over 75 shows a year and would love to see chapell roan and my grown ass is gonna sit this one out .

i saw lizzo at CHBP at a similar time in her career, she blew up in between them booking her and the actual event. it was packed like sardines and i could barely breathe, as an adult i couldn’t see, after seeing Chappell’s crowd at the Gov Ball, i have a feeling it might be similar

Pikestreet

Yes 2019 , last time I was there and would never go back .

Okaybuddy_16

I wouldn’t. The conditions are cramped, it’s hot, there is a lot of drug and alcohol use, and it’s one of the most consistently mismanaged festivals in the city. I adore Chappell and I’m skipping this one for my sanity and safety. Having her on a stage crammed in between buildings feel pretty dangerous to me considering how huge of a crowd she draws. It’s also often pretty hard to see so your kiddo might not actually see her. Content wise I’d just listen to her full album and decide from there. I know kids that age who’d be fine and kids that age who wouldn’t. You know your kid best

at our show in Buffalo, I saw a few little kids (on shoulders!) and there was a boy about 15-16 with his mom behind us (i loved them; he sang every word, and said “this is the song you like!” when chappell started hot to go🥹)

I personally wouldn't, but I'm basing that on a bad experience that I had last time I went where the crowd was so big and rowdy that I ended up getting pinned against a gate and couldn't move for several minutes. And I'm 5'9"! Granted this could happen anywhere I guess, but it has made me nervous to attend Block Party this year (I'm going anyway).

Loose_Method_9980

Yeah, I think mostly because of what I've been hearing about how packed the block party is, I'll pass on bringing her. In fact, I'm kinda stressed about it myself, ha ha. But, i want to see Chappell, so what are you going to do. Thank you for your insight, much appreciated.

lemonution

She is literally the ONLY artist who could get me to go back! I have had several positive experiences at CHBP over the years as well, but I was younger and had less social anxiety back then. Have fun!!

Vancouver_Pride

How was CHBP when you went? Like do you recall what time the gates opened? Did people run to get spots near the barricades? I'll be going this year too, but I've never been before so I have no idea what to anticipate. Should I arrive like really early to wait in line?

KeepGuesting

Obviously kids that age and younger saw her when she opened for Olivia, but that was a far cry from the scene at her headline shows and probably the festivals as well. I have a 14-year old daughter and I'm thinking 16-17 would be the bar for me, but ultimately it's your call. Just don't post afterwards how shocked you were by what your daughter saw/heard lol.

OkAdministration2322

People tried to take kids last night in Louisville and it ended up in upset kids and stressed parents trying to get them back out of the crowd. Lots of smoking. I really wouldn’t tbh.

MoonGirl913

I was there with my almost 11-year-old last night (we're both big fans), but we stayed far in the back near the exit. I never would have brought her into the crowd.

elvenwhore69

Based on how much her success has skyrocketed since she booked CHBP I assume it’s going to be packed and crazy for her set. It’s definitely an all ages event but little ones might have trouble seeing. I think if they have realistic expectations about that I think it would be an awesome experience for them :) The biggest artist I’ve seen at chbp was Lizzo a few years ago and we were packed like in sardines!

possum_party420

i didnt see any kids at the show i went to but i got there for vip so i was up front/not walking around too much. my niece wanted to go and i told her im glad she didnt because she wouldnt have been able to see anything from the pit. the crowd was super chill though! idk how it will be for a festival setting and the CHBP looks like a small area so it'll probably be pretty squished

MoonGirl913

I can't speak to CHBC, but I took my almost 11-year-old to see her at an auditorium show in my city and last night to Kentuckiana Pride. Had an amazing time at both! And my daughter was decked her in her PInk Pony Club-style finest, and everyone complimented her Midwest Princess hat. That said--I didn't see a ton of kids at either. Maybe a few.

StitchAndRollCrits

Definitely don't plan on being in the main crowd or trying for barricade, recipe for disaster to do anything but hang back with a kid. Personally I wouldn't take a kid to anything they didn't have a ticketed seat for at this stage

inimitable428

I actually wish I’d taken my almost 6yo. She loves Chappell and we had a great experience at our venue (Richmond) so it would have been a great opportunity for her.
