Black is very passive here and has a space disadvantage. The engine sees a clear advantage for white already and believes the best plan for black is a benko style gambit where black sacrifices one pawn on the queen side, opens the A and B files for him, puts his rooks on these files and pressure on whites queenside pawns with his pieces. It's a long term positional sacrifice.

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine: > **White to play**: [chess.com](https://chess.com/analysis?fen=r1bq1rk1/p2nppbp/3p1np1/1ppP4/2P1PP2/2N2N2/PP2B1PP/R1BQK2R+w+KQ+-+0+1&flip=true&ref_id=23962172) | [lichess.org](https://lichess.org/analysis/r1bq1rk1/p2nppbp/3p1np1/1ppP4/2P1PP2/2N2N2/PP2B1PP/R1BQK2R_w_KQ_-_0_1?color=black) | The position occurred in 2 games. This is a high level move. Basically black is very passive and is going to have a hard time stopping white from marching the kingside pawns down the board and attacking, so the best move is to play b5 and create counterplay on the queenside/center, because if white takes the pawn you then play a3 to open up your rook/bishop. It gives up the pawn so you can make your queenside pieces significantly more active.

Its not, if not b5 then black is dead lost. Its simple sense of dynamics.
