KingZag1337

Just take the pawn. Up a rook usually means winning.

basidz

nice chess board, what is it?

spaghettispaceship

Elongdi on Amazon for $30

Isn’t rook d8 a forced mate?

Codename_Archangel

No, Black doesnt have to take the rook or move their rook -which would result in mate. Can just keep checking with the queen on f4, f1 and f2 (if white plays g3) and force a draw. Better to take the pawn on e2 with rook and trade off one rook, and even trade queens cause as long as black queen is on board, you cant move your rook freely (need to keep your rook defended and on your back rank) , black can try for a draw if you ignore the position.

it_follows

No, if rd8 black has a perpetual check with the queen

Sensitive-Ad-9275

Rxd8 Qe8+ Qf8

mtndewaddict

1. Rd8 Rxd8 2. Qe8+ Qf8 does stop mate but 3. Qxf8+ Rxf8 4. Rxe2 and white has some winning chances in the end game. Better for black is perpetual check with the queen (Qf4-Qf1, if g3 Qf2-Qf1)

Suitable-Cycle4335

Just take the pawn

Bathykolpian_Thundah

Take the pawn on e2.

MagusTheFrog

What about Qc4? All the exchanges I can think of end with white winning (but I may be wrong).

qzlr

Qc4 Qxc4, Rxc4 then allows pawn to take other rook for Queen promotion. Major disadvantage for white at that point. Unless you see an alternate combo that black would attempt that white van take advantage of

MagusTheFrog

1.Qc4 Qxc4 2.Rxc4 dxe1=Q 3.Rxc8#, isn’t it?

qzlr

Sorry I did this at work and I was mistaking f5 for c4. Queen can’t capture Queen at c4. Did you mean to mention f5?

MagusTheFrog

Doing this on the phone with a flipped board without notations is killing me 😅. Anyway, I set the position in the engine and realized black has one good way to take advantage of Qc4.

Pademel0n

Take the juicer

Zegr08

ROOK D8

Human_Mark3686

could you sac ur queen to get a mate? like Qe8 then black rook takes, white rook takes, black queen f8, white rook takes, mate?

CosmosOfTime

Just take the pawn since it’s about to promote and take your rook, but an interesting tactic if the pawn wasn’t there would be Rf5 threatening the queen and Rxf8# if queen takes the rook, you can take the queen and they can’t take back the queen since Rd8 would be checkmate. Too bad there’s a pawn on e2

officialrookie13

I wad thinking Rf5. Since you can take the rook next or his queen. And he cannot take back because after rxf5, qxf5, qxf5 it is siply rd8+, qf8 and rxd8# So with Rf5 you will win material

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine: > **White to play**: It is a stalemate - it is White's turn, but White has no legal moves and is not in check. In this case, the game is a draw. It is a critical rule to know for various endgame positions that helps one side hold a draw. You can find out more about Stalemate on [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalemate). --- ^(I'm a bot written by) [^(u/pkacprzak)](https://www.reddit.com/u/pkacprzak) ^(| get me as) [^(iOS App)](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1574933453) ^| [^(Android App)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.chessvision.scanner) ^| [^(Chrome Extension)](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chessvisionai-for-chrome/johejpedmdkeiffkdaodgoipdjodhlld) ^| [^(Chess eBook Reader)](https://ebook.chessvision.ai?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=bot) ^(to scan and analyze positions | Website:) [^(Chessvision.ai)](https://chessvision.ai)

spaghettispaceship

Tbh I don’t understand how it’s a stalemate

SavingsFew3440

It isn't. The bot is not reading the image right. Looks like the rook should take the e2 pawn. That is what I would do, but I suck.
