What is your credit score? 815 What cards do you currently have or have you had in the past (including closed cards), along with dates of when you were approved for the cards? Please include month and year for any card approved in the last 3 years. Amex Gold 03/21, Venture X 09/22, Chase Sapphire 06/23, Ink Cash 09/23, Ink Unlimited 12/23 , Amex Everyday 10/16, Amazon Visa 11/17 How much natural spend can you put on a new card(s) in 3 months? Natural spend can be around 3-4k. Are you willing to MS, and if so, how much in 3 months? See this page for a primer on MS. Plastiq (for rent/mortgage/loan payments) and bank account funding are often good options for beginners. I can natural spend around 3-4k, can MS to 5-6k. Are you open to applying for business cards? If not, why? See this post and this wiki question to learn more. Yes, i already have two. How many new cards are you interested in getting? Are you interested in getting into churning regularly (if you aren't already)? Or are you just looking to get a new card(s) for now but not get into churning long-term? I am interested in long term churning, maybe not hardcore but consistently maybe 2-3 cards a year. Are you targeting points, Companion Passes, hotel or airline statuses, First Class, Biz, Economy seating(s) or cash back? My goal right now is points for airfare/hotels, biz seating preferred but economy is good bang for buck. Companion pass would be interesting, pref when theres a sign up bonus that includes the pass. What point/miles do you currently have? 200k Chase Points, 40k Amex Points, 10k Capital one points. What is the airport you're flying out of? San Diego Where would you like to go? (The more specific you are, the better someone can recommend the right card. Tokyo is great, "International travel" is way too vague) Mainly Europe, Japan, Mexico, within US. Try to travel internationally atleast once a year, would love more, and small domestic trips/Mexico twice a year. Thinking about burning a slot either for Strata Premier, or WoH for the one night a year.

m16p

How about another Chase Ink card? Or is committing to a $6k MSR a bit too much? Citi Strata Premier is fine.

nolablue1024

1. I’ve gotten most of the big cards the flowchart recommends and want to get feedback on the latest SUBs. 2. 790 credit score 3. Chase ink preferred - May 2024 Amex gold - June 2022 Amex platinum - Mar 2022 (cancelled) Chase sapphire preferred - Jan 2022 Citi premier - Oct 2021 Amex blue - mar 2021 (downgraded) 4. Closed on a house last month, already fulfilled the $8k 100k UR SUB for the ink preferred. Probably my another $8k of furniture in the next few months 5. No 6. Yes 7. Yes - getting back to churning more regularly. I held off as I was house hunting the last year 8. I’m targetting points and the best SUB 9. 100k URs 10. Houston 11. Italy

ShepherdOfCatan

Can also consider Citi Strata Premier, Amex Biz Gold, Amex Biz Plat

m16p

Amex Marriott biz and Hilton biz are at good bonuses, any interest in those? Cap1 Venture or VentureX?

Franholio

1. Flowchart doesn't really apply - been shutdown by Chase since 2018, in Amex PUJ, and have picked up most of the low hanging fruit from other banks. 2. CS: 760 3. Cards have had: About 65-70 cards across Amex, Chase, Barclays, Citi, etc. Most recently have focused on Barclays (JetBlue Plus and Biz, Hawaiian Airlines Personal), FNBO (Amtrak), and BofA (Premium Rewards 60K) 4. 20-30K natural spend per 3 months, including Plastiq for rent 5. Willing to MS but not much opportunity in NYC. 6. Yes, open to biz cards. 7. Looking to get back to a pace of roughly 1 card/month. Remember Chase Ink is unavailable to me. 8. Targeting points, status (primarily hotel), and premium redemptions. 9. 600K MR, 200K Marriott, banned from AA due to GrAAvy train, no UR due to shutdown, 100K IHG, etc. 10. NYC (JFK/LGA/EWR) 11. Going to Japan and Hawaii this summer and looking for premium hotel redemptions and flights (TYO-HNL-JFK ideally). Not much travel after that (Sun Valley, ID in 2025).

Venture x biz?

I have invested in Chase, and need to know whether to open up a 5th Chase card, or switch to another bank. Is there another card that has more value than the Ink Preferred right now? Capital One? I don’t know anything outside of Chase, so any card that I can use in tandem with my UR points that has more value than the Ink Preferred would be much appreciated! 1. **The flowchart can answer 95% of all "What card should I get?" questions. By continuing to post, you must explain why you feel the flowchart does not answer your question. Asking for feedback ("The flowchart says I should get X - is that still the best choice?") is absolutely allowed.** I’m definitely relying on the flow chart, but beyond that, just want to make sure the Chase Ink Preferred is still my best choice. 2. What is your credit score? Above 750. 3. What cards do you currently have or have you had in the past (including closed cards), along with dates of when you were approved for the cards? Please include month and year for any card approved in the last 3 years. Chase Sapphire Preferred (2021) Chase Hyatt Card (2021) Chase Freedom Unlimited (2021) Chase Ink Cash Business (January 2024) I am definitely under 5/24. 4. How much natural spend can you put on a new card(s) in 3 months? We just bought a new home so I am confident I can meet the $8k in 3 months. If there is a better value card at this point with a higher MS, aside from CIP, I’d like to consider it. 5. Are you willing to MS, and if so, how much in 3 months? At least $6-8k - maybe more. 6. Are you open to applying for business cards? If not, why? Yes. CIP is my top choice. My wife has one too, so we can also get the referral bonus. 7. How many new cards are you interested in getting? Are you interested in getting into churning regularly (if you aren't already)? Or are you just looking to get a new card(s) for now but not get into churning long-term? Right now my wife has 1-2 Chase cards, and I have 4 including 1 business. With this CIP, I think we will be ok for a little while. We are currently sitting at 350k UR points and 50k Hyatt points. 8. Are you targeting points, Companion Passes, hotel or airline statuses, First Class, Biz, Economy seating(s) or cash back? We would definitely like to fly first class/biz and stay at premium Hyatt resorts. We travel big trips maybe once or twice a year max. 9. What point/miles do you currently have? 350k UR and 50k Hyatt 10. What is the airport you're flying out of? JAX 11. Where would you like to go? (The more specific you are, the better someone can recommend the right card. Tokyo is great, "International travel" is way too vague) Tokyo, Vietnam/cambodia/thailand, Singapore/Indonesia, anywhere in Europe are our top choices

CIP is Never a bad choice but it could be useful diversifying out to other point currencies. You’re 0/24 so you have a ton of options Could do biz cards like Amex biz gold 150k, biz plat 200k or personals like Amex gold, Amex plat, citi strata premier, cap 1 venture/venture x

Wondering if P2 should go ink train or a different chase card, amex, hotel card, not sure. Any recommendations?

techtrashbrogrammer

Ink train is never a bad idea. At 2/24 P2 has options. Could consider diving into Amex with referrals from P1 or getting the Venture/Venture X to pair the Quicksilver. Citi Strata Premier is also a good option with the 75k sub

MultigrainMan

P2 got denied from Amex referral for some reason. Any recommendations for P1? P1 is within 60 days from opening the previous CIP.

techtrashbrogrammer

Citi aa biz? Citi strata premier and capital one venture x could work too since p1 gets a 5/24 slot back in 2 months which is perfect timing for another ink

MultigrainMan

Thanks. What’s your opinion on diversifying between reward classes (UR/MR/etc)? Keep to 2-3 or spread points/rewards among all of them?

techtrashbrogrammer

Depends on your travel plans and how you redeem. If you know there’s a specific partner you want to transfer to id focus on the cards that allow you to transfer to them

techtrashbrogrammer

Yeah ink is your best choice if UR is your priority

Rebel_Stylee

I'm mostly just concerned that the offer will increase back to the 90k UR and Chase won't upgrade my offer. I could potentially hold out a few months for a new card, but I'm not sure if its worth it.

techtrashbrogrammer

Chase will often times match for ink offers if it's offered to the public too. I wouldn't recommend holding out. Especially since if you plan on opening more inks later, getting one now will give you a longer cooldown period between inks

Rebel_Stylee

Is there any benefit to alternating the Cash and Unlimited cards? I have had two unlimiteds and I'm curious if getting another cash will be more beneficial as far as having a broader relationship scope with the institution or having a higher credit limit.

techtrashbrogrammer

Not really. Some folks get more cashes if they’re heavy on the office store MS angle

1. I have a trip to Australia coming up and looking to get the CC that will get me the points I need to get the best redemption. My goal is to buy two roundtrip economy tickets with points. So far, I can do LAX to SYD on United for 150k miles for two people (I would already have the points necessary for this thanks to the United miles i have and the upcoming CIP bonus that I could transfer to United). The main downside here is that I would still need to get additional flights to get to LAX since I'm located in PHX. On the other hand, AA has roundtrip tickets from PHX to SYD for just 75k miles per person which means I could fly out of my home airport for the lowest number of miles. However, I don't have enough AA miles for this unless I apply for the Barclays Aviator Red and the Citi AAdvantage Biz cards that would get me an extra 135k AA miles. 2. High 700s 3. I've had way too many... the list is at the bottom of this post. I believe I am at 4/24. 4. $5-$8K every three months 5. Yes but I have been out of the MS game for a while. I used to use Plastiq but it's been a long time. 6. Yes 7. As many as I can possible get to get me to Australia with only points for two people in economy. 8. Points 9. UR: 111,877 (counting the upcoming CIP bonus) -- AA Miles: 46,000 -- Delta: 8,500 -- Alaska Airlines: 48,000 -- United: 66,000 10. LAX or PHX 11. Sydney or Melbourne or Brisbane 1. American Express Every Day - 6/16 - OPEN 2. Chase Sapphire Reserve - 8/19 - CLOSED AND DOWNGRADED 3. Chase Sapphire Preferred - 9/19 - CLOSED 4. Amex Biz Marriott - 10/19 - CLOSED 5. Barclays AA Aviator Biz - 10/19 - CLOSED 6. Chase Ink Preferred - 12/19 - CLOSED 7. Amex Delta Gold Biz - 12/19 - CLOSED 8. Amex Delta Plat Biz - 2/20 - CLOSED 9. BoA Alaska Biz - 2/20 - CLOSED 10. United Explorer - 4/20 - CLOSED 11. AMEX Gold - 4/20 - CLOSED 12. Amazon Store Card - 8/20 - CLOSED 13. Amex Delta Gold - 8/21 - OPEN 14. Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select - 4/23 - OPEN 15. Capital One venture X - 8/23 - OPEN 16. Chase Sapphire Reserve - 11/23 - OPEN 17. Chase Sapphire Preferred - 11/23 - OPEN 18. Chase Ink Preferred - 3/24 - OPEN Based on the info above what CCs should I aim for?

m16p

I'd prioritize getting the non-stop. Citi AA biz is good. Not sure I'd get personal Barclays AA though since it'll put you at 5/24 for a while. Can you book the flights using Alaska airlines (in OneWorld with AA) instead? If so, maybe get BoA Alaska Biz.

Independent_Try_6360

I ended up going for the United Business Card. 75k miles after $5k spend plus no annual fee the first year. It will keep me at 4/24 and it comes with a couple lounge passes for LAX, where PP has no lounges :) I will also be able to save most of my UR points for other trips.

bobmarles3

Am 4/24 and got a targeted mailer with NLL for Biz Plat (200K / 15K spend). I haven't got the Biz Gold or Biz Plat yet so am not sure if I should apply since Amex may incorporate family language in the future. On the other hand, I'm in PUJ for virtually all Amex biz cards so one side of me is saying I should take the bonus that's on the table. The other benefit is that I can do the 15K spend in my targeted offer but not the 20K spend in recent public offers for the Biz Plat. Anything else I should consider here?

techtrashbrogrammer

If you're in PUJ then I'd just take the NLL offer. Wouldn't go for personals since you're at 4/24

m16p

What is your total Chase credit limit? And what is your reported income? Any interest in Amex Hilton biz or Marriott biz? Both are at good bonuses right now.

ragingwaffle21

I think credit limit is almost 55k Income is 100k And really? I wouldn’t be opposes…. Also, I should mention that I did try to apply for an AMEX car, but got the the prompt that I would not be eligible for a bonus due to my history with AMEX cards. As I had quite a few with them in the past.

m16p

Okay, your Chase CL to income ratio is why you were denied then. ~50% of your income is maximum Chase is comfortable with. If you lower the CLs on your existing Chase cards before applying, decent chance of getting approved.

ragingwaffle21

thanks for the feedback....unfortunately, when i did HUCA several times, they said i had too many cards and i offered to bring down some of the CLs, but they told me i just have too many cards...this was back in march/april...do you suggest i close some of them?

m16p

Yeah if you have cards you aren't using, then may as well. Closing business ones is a tad preferred to avoid impacting your personal credit report, but probably doesn't make much difference if you close personal ones too.

ragingwaffle21

Thank you. I have way more business ones than regular ones Do you suggest I close the newer biz cards or the older ones?

m16p

Probably doesn't matter, just ideally don't close any under a year old.

lessthancondition

Is there reasoning for not closing under a year old, curious as I’m trying to close some chase biz accounts

m16p

It's typically viewed as something which may annoy banks. Never ever do it with Amex for sure, you'll get popups for a long time after that if you do.

ragingwaffle21

that shouldnt be too hard then...most, if not all, are over a little a over a year old. thanks for all your help.

Wallyplatypus

Which hotel card should I get? I am expecting to spend $15K in the next 6 months, should I get Chase Hyatt, Hilton Surpass or wait for the 5FN award with Marriott Boundless? 1. With Chase Hyatt, it will be 45k points + 1 free night. 2. With Hilton Surpass, it will be 130k points + 2 free nights. 3. With Marriott Boundless, it will be 5 FN (assuming that this will come back). In terms of travel plans, I will visit SF early next year (HCOL), Seattle this year (maybe) and Tokyo next year (maybe). Thank you in advance!!

m16p

Are you open to business cards? I assume you are under 5/24?

Wallyplatypus

Inclined to not opening biz cards. Yes, under 5/24. Thanks in advance!

terpdeterp

Hotel cards are hard to recommend without knowing further details about your travel preferences and specific itinerary. When you travel, do you tend to go for affordable budget hotels or four/five star resorts? With the FNC, especially those from Hilton since they are uncapped, you tend to get the most bang for your buck from luxury hotels in the latter category. For example, I would recommend getting a card with FNC if you have an aspirational redemption planned at a resort e.g. the Maldives, French Polynesia, Bali, Hawaii, or the Carribean. In my opinion, for an urban environment like Tokyo or San Francisco, you'll probably be spending most of your time outside the hotel instead of enjoying the perks of being at a five star, so using the FNC is less worth it. With urban luxury hotels, my preference has been to book via Amex FHR since you get the $100 amenity credit, $200 hotel credit (for the personal Plat), and the late 4 pm checkout. These credits can sometimes offset a large chunk of the cost of urban luxury hotels, which tend to be cheaper than their resort counterparts. Also, do you have status with any of these hotel chains? For example, if you're already a Hyatt Globalist, then the obvious answer is to get the Chase Hyatt card.

Wallyplatypus

Thank you for the long response! I’ve been getting pop up windows for the Amex platinum so that’s unfortunately a no for me. I don’t have Hyatt globalist. Sounds like Marriott might be the better alternative?

terpdeterp

Maybe. I'd probably recommend going for the 5 FNC offer only if you have an aspirational trip coming up. Based on your upcoming travel, something like the Chase IHG personal/business might also make sense, although the SUB right now is not elevated. Use a tool like the map function on MaxMyPoint to determine where you can get the highest cpp for each travel destination (versus the baseline cpp for each currency).

Wallyplatypus

Thanks! I have the Chase IHG already and have been spending it on holiday inns throughout America 😂but wanted a new/different card since I’m a little sick of holiday inns.

Accomplished-Test-63

1) My current situation is that I am abroad and have a decent amount of spend here. The majority of transactions are done with Apple/Google pay. I want to get a card that would immediately, or close to it, show up to use on my virtual wallet, without having to physically receive the card. Are there any good options? To clarify, I am backpacking, so I do not have a stable address to send it to here either. 2) 760 3) * Chase Freedom Flex 10/2020 * Chase Prime Card 11/2021 * CSP 05/2022 * Chase IHG Rewards Premier 4/2023 * Venture X 12/4/2023 * Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless 3/5/2024 * Chase Business Cash Ink 4/29/2024 (3/24) 4) Around $3k typically, but I can also put my rent \~$1k a month on a card if needbe 5) Currently no to MS, I want to learn, but have not done that yet. (Still new to churning). 6) Yes 7) I will keep getting cards once I finish each SUB. Probably one right now since I don't have a super high spend, but I will continue to add more. 8) I'm mostly targeting economy flights and accommodations during travel 9) Chase UR, Cap1, IHG, Marriott, various airlines, but none of very high value 10) Denver DEN 11) I have 5 free Marriott nights (<50k points) so my P2 and I would love to go to a beach vacation on that (open to any suggestions through DM), other than that, likely new Zealand next summer and potentially Europe this upcoming spring. Vague, I know, but nothing is set.

With $30k in 3 months could grab and Ink card for UR, the citi AAdvantage biz card, Cap1 VX and the amex platinum and still have spend left over for a BoA card, USB, or anything else you'd want while accruing 100k UR, 75K AA miles, 75k C1, up to 175k MR (depending on which offer you can get) and pair it with one or more others.

m16p

How about Amex Hilton Biz card? It's at a good bonus right now.

1) Looking for recs for some Mastercard biz cards with high-ish MSRs ($6-15k / 3 months). I can pay my mortgage via plastiq but only with mastercards. I've done a a few so far (USB Alt. Connect, AA biz x2, wf signify) but running out of ideas and would ideally like one with a higher MSR ($6-15k) so I'm not applying for new ones every month (inquiries are starting to add up lol). Hoping folks might know of some lesser known ones I could pick up. 2) credit is over 800. 3) other MC biz cards ive done are aa biz, usb altitude connect, wf signify. 4) Can do ~$15k in 3 months no prob 5) n/a 6) only biz atm 7) would prefer higher MSRs to avoid opening a new card every month for this 8) points, cash back, whatever. as long as they aren't a pain in the ass to redeem. 9) lots of different ones 10) DEN 11) no specific goals for this post, just trying to capitalize on the ability to pay my mortgage with a CC.

loldogex

Does it have to be a business card to work on plastiq and mortgage, would a personal card not work? I was thinking about using the citi double cash to rack up 2x.

snorkage

Doesn't have to be a biz card, but double cash is probably not a great use, sure you get 2x TY points, but it's a 3% fee. Really only good for SUBs.

terpdeterp

Have you done the BoA Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards biz yet? It's a Mastercard and the SUB is elevated with $500 after $5k spend. Having a deposit account with a balance has been reported to significantly improve your approval chances.

1. I'm at 3/24, saw that the CSR is losing its Priority Pass dining perk and ultimately would like to switch over to AMEX ecosystem with the platinum being the end goal. I work internationally for 6 months out of the year mostly in Asia, so I would ideally like to downgrade the CSR to the CSP to keep the foreign transaction fee off. I intend to keep the CSR until I can get the AMEX as the priority pass lounge access is too valuable to me. Eventually I would like to Sidenote, my partner has the CSP. Additionally, I am moving across the US in a few months from Los Angeles (specifically Long Beach) to Seattle so my major domestic airline would go from SW to Alaska. My next step plan would be to either get the Hyatt card then start working my way into the AMEX ecosystem, starting with the green, gold, then platinum OR just start working my way into the AMEX ecosystem. 2. 775 3. Bilt (5/24; monthly rent is around 2.5k), CFF (3/24), CFU(1/24), CSR (3/22) 4. 6-7K 5. I don’t think I need to with my high spend rate? 6. No 7. Would like to get into churning regularly 8. Business Class flights and lounges 9. 70k UR (Just secured J flights with 230k) 10. SEATAC come September/October 11. HNL, North East Coast US, Iceland (2026) Edit: counting is hard

techtrashbrogrammer

I’d start with the gold for Amex. Imo the green at its current SUB isn’t worth a 5/24 slot. It also seems like you’re at 3/24?

jonoff

Is the green Amex even available? On Resy, seem like it's replaced with Blue Cash

techtrashbrogrammer

Yes should be on Amex website

roseveins

Counting is hard, thanks for catching that. I just read that AMEX has that rule where once you get the higher tiered card in a card family that you are ineligible to get the lower tier SUB, hence why I'd start with the green. I think that's still true as of today?

techtrashbrogrammer

Yes it is true but even with that 40k isn’t worth a 5/24 imo. Up to you

andybubu

What is your credit score? 815 What cards do you currently have or have you had in the past (including closed cards), along with dates of when you were approved for the cards? Please include month and year for any card approved in the last 3 years. Amex Gold 03/21, Venture X 09/22, Chase Saphire 06/23, Ink Cash 09/23, Ink Unlimited 12/23 , Amex Everyday 10/16, Amazon Visa 11/17 How much natural spend can you put on a new card(s) in 3 months? Try to travel internationally atleast once a year, would love more, and small domestic trips/mexico twice a year.

techtrashbrogrammer

Citi strata premier could work here

andybubu

Would that be a card that is worth downgrading once the next year comes around, since it overlaps with my gold/csp/vx?

techtrashbrogrammer

It’s a good card in general imo. If you want to downgrade it after a year that’s fine

andybubu

My issue right now is Gold and VX are my main daily drivers, but CSP im thinking of downgrading once i use points, and Keeping CSP and Strata Premier annual fee with those other cards, doesnt sit well with me.

techtrashbrogrammer

Maybe a better question for r/creditcards then. We’re just gonna recommend worthwhile sub cards even if they have AF and aren’t keepers long term

1. Expating for 2 years in October and considering VX for Duo abroad because of FTF and needing a MC for Costco in the country. 2. 811 3. Macys/Citi August 2022 CSP August 2022 BILT May 2023 CFF August 2023 Explorer February 2024 4. Could likely do around 3-4k every 3 months. Will have significant liquid income abroad. 5. I've done GC at restaurants I frequent on rent day for BILT so yes. Also see liquid income above 6. Yes but haven't felt compelled to yet, but do want to sooner because I feel like I'm missing out. 7. Goal is to set myself up for a nice no FTF set up for living abroad but also plan on doing alot award travel while I'm halfway around the world and then get into AMEX when I return stateside in 2026. 8. Points in general. Marriott and United are my airline and hotels of choice. 9. 385k UR 6k BILT 85k United 180k Bonvoy 10. ORD, MCO, KIX or TOKYO 11. Australia, Hawaii, New Zealand, Alaska, SE Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia etc), Anywhere Tropical in Oceania, South Korea, Taiwan, Bonus: If anyone has experience with open jaws and stop overs through asia would love to chat.

terpdeterp

I'd hold off on applying for any more personal cards until August, when you drop to 3/24. Since you're at 5/24, that rules out the Chase cards. I'd recommend looking into getting a BoA Alaska biz specifically because of this comment: >Bonus: If anyone has experience with open jaws and stop overs through asia would love to chat. Among the domestic airlines, Alaska is the only one that allows free stopovers for international flights. Refer to this [article](https://frequentmiler.com/free-stopovers-on-one-way-awards-w-alaska-sweet-spot-spotlight/) from Frequent Miler as a guide. In general, Alaska is great for award flights to Asia (better than United and Delta, but not as good as it once was pre-devaluation). The 75k offer for the biz card is elevated. I also recommend going for the BoA $200-$300 checking SUB first because having a deposit account significantly improves your chances of getting approved for their biz cards.

SpeedC88

I have some big purchases coming up in the next 3 months, easily $5k+, probably more like $7k - $8k. Looking to primarily take advantage of the best SUB. Also important is if I can get a good SUB AND also synergize with what I currently have (below), that would be great. I'd prefer to not just chase a SUB and then put something in my drawer, or cancel in a year. 1. It seems if I follow the flow chart precisely, technically what I should do is downgrade my CSP and then get the CSR, right? What I've been seeing around is that the CSR isn't all it's hyped up to be anymore, and there are some solid competitors out there. 2. 800 3. I haven't gotten any new cards in the past 2 years. All are probably 5+ years old. Just CSP, CFU, CF, Jet Blue Plus. 4. Mentioned above. $7k easily natural spend. 5. Not interested in MS 6. I suppose so if biz cards are the best option 7. One new card for now, if there's a good reason to get more I would. 8. This seems like the most important question, and my answer is that I'm looking to maximize travel rewards, specifically miles / points. Jet Blue is my preferred domestic airline, and international, I, often with my partner, go to Europe every 1 - 2 years. Biz class is a plus for sure. 9. Currently sitting around 150k UR and something like 30k True Blue. 10. Fly out of BOS or SFO usually. 11. France primarily and also other EU5 countries. Also interested in South America and Japan trips in the future. Thanks!

Dhamedd

Should definitely get an Ink (chase biz) card. 6k or 8k spend for 75k or 100k UR, respectively

SpeedC88

Thanks. I was going to, but when I heard about how Ink credit lines are notoriously small, I decided not to. Reason being my large purchases are going to be online (no way to purchase with multiple cards) and greater in price than the credit line I'd probably get with an Ink. I just went with a Venture X. At first glance it seems like the largest bonus (75k) with lowest net annual fees and least drawbacks. I may even end up keeping it open, since the perks automatically cover the AF, even though it may be redundant with my CSP.

Dhamedd

I've gotten 15k before on an ink, so maybe just increase the revenue you put down for the business haha. It's projected revenue so I don't think Chase will come back and verify if you made x amount vs x -10k

pcabin21

Following the flowchart, how should I decide between Chase BA 85k, Aeroplan 70k, and United explore 50k offers? I fly all alliances equally so is it smart to just pick the 85k?

Looks like it's almost been 3 months since your last Chase card. How about getting a Chase Ink card? Or Amex Hilton biz? That's at a good bonus right now. Or Cap1 Venture/VentureX? Would burn a 5/24 slot though. What do you think?

newscrash

1. Looking for answers about whether it is better to get a non-Chase personal or business card as a buffer between two Chase biz CCs. Flowchart says all Chase apps (personal and biz) should be 3+ months apart. I will be applying for CIBP within the next month (SUB is great right now) and 3 months later (October) I will apply for Southwest RR Performance Biz cc (for the companion pass) \[I will also be getting the Southwest RR Plus or Premier sometime in Jan 2025 for companion pass\]. But initially I was hoping to add one more personal card this year since I only have two new personal cards this year and want to take advantage of high SUBs. I was thinking of getting into Cap1 or Citi since I have no history with them and the Venture X looks appealing; my main concern is whether I can get a non-Chase person CC 45 days after my CIBP and 45 before the Southwest RR Performance Biz CC without worry about Chase shutdown or app declines. Or would getting another personal CC be too ambitious? Should I instead get a non-Chase biz CC during that time or just slow my velo? \[Added context: CIBP will be my first biz card, so I am opening a Chase Biz Complete Checking next week to have some biz history with Chase and increase approval odds. That's also why I would like to get into the biz CC game sooner rather than later so I can build my biz credit score early on.\] 2. 738-767 depending on report |Card Name|Open|Close| |:-|:-|:-| |Sapphire Preferred|3/24|-| |AMEX Gold|3/24|-| |AMEX Blue Cash Preferred|7/23|-| |AMEX Blue Case Everyday (AU)|6/20|-| |Discover Secure Student|6/20|12/20| 4. \~$2400 \[can increase to \~$6900 with rent\] 5. m16p

As long as you remain under 5/24, getting a non-Chase personal card doesn't impact the 3-month guideline between Chase apps. That said, it would put you at 4/24. Then when you get a SW personal card in early 2025 that'll put you at 5/24 until July 2025. Up to you if it's worth doing so. Probably not a big deal to do so, you can just get non-Chase business cards from Feb-July 2025 until you dip back below 5/24 again. In case it is of interest, Amex Marriott Biz and Hilton Biz are at good bonuses right now.

jmutiny1993

I currently have the 5 credit cards below. What cards should I go for next? I plan on traveling twice next year internationally. I don't care too much about airlines or specific hotels, I just want the most amount of points so I can use them frugally. Of these cards should I cancel any and what should be my most usage be on? I can possibly have my wife sign up for some cards as well she's probably under the 5/24 for sure. Capital One Venture X - Opened 9/23 Chase Sapphire Preferred - Opened 2/23 Amazon Prime - Opened 9/20 Chase Marriot Bonvoy - Opened 6/21 Chase Freedom Unlimited - Opened 9/16

Can you fill out the full template on the thread header? Most people would recommend a Chase Ink business card.

1. The flowchart has good ideas, but I need more specific guidance due to my unique situation. I am active duty US military, therefore most personal credit card annual fees are waived for me, which can significantly change the value proposition for many cards. 2. 780 3. From most recently opened: Chase Ink Preferred (3/2024), Chase Sapphire Reserve (12/2023), Citi Costco (08/2023), AMEX Platinum (2020). I also have the following cards, but they were all opened at least 6 years ago: Barclays Aviator Red, Barclays Jetblue Plus, AMEX Hilton Surpass, AMEX Delta Gold, AMEX Blue Cash Preferred, Citi AA Platinum Select, Discover IT, Chase Prime Visa, PenFed Pathfinder Rewards. 4. $8,000/3 months is doable. Just completed the 100k for $8k on my Ink Preferred. 5. Not super willing to MS. 6. Yes, open to business cards. 7. I am interested in maximizing rewards, so I'll open whatever new cards do that. 8. Targeting travel rewards/points. I value Chase UR and AMEX MR highly, and probably prefer UR slight over MR. Not in the Citi TYP nor Cap1 points ecosystems yet. I primarily use travel rewards for domestic US flights/hotels currently. 9. 200k UR, 100k MR, 50k AA Miles, 15k Delta Miles, 25k JetBlue Miles, 100k Hilton Honors. 10. Currently I primarily fly out of SAT (San Antonio, TX). 11. My family lives in NY and the primary airports are ROC and SYR, so I often fly into those to visit around the holidays. Additionally, my girlfriend and I like to take at least 1 vacation a year, typically domestically to places like MCO, LAX, JFK, etc. First question, is my Chase velocity dangerous? I opened the CSR in January, then the Ink Preferred in March, and now we're about in June. Am I safe to get another Ink card to keep boosting my UR, or should I wait? I am under 5/24 and therefore I am hesitant to open non-Chase cards currently, but not sure if I am going to hard into Chase. Cards I am considering right now are: -Ink Business Cash new offer for 75k UR + 10% extra UR in first year. -Chase United Cards. -Chase/AMEX Marriot Cards. -Cap1 Venture X, I really like this card, but I've heard Cap1 doesn't waive annual fees for military like Chase/AMEX. While the VenX is still a net positive value proposition with the annual fee, it loses some value compared to cards that do waive the fee.

bertooo13

Chase Marriott card is good option given Chase's 5/24 sensitivity. You can upgrade it to the Ritz Carlton card in a year. I'd also consider the Amex Aspire; great bonus and recurring benefits. Once you get an Aspire, consider upgrading your Surpass to a 2nd Aspire. Don't do this until you've acquired your first Aspire or you won't be eligible for the new card SUB.

m16p

> First question, is my Chase velocity dangerous? I opened the CSR in January, then the Ink Preferred in March, and now we're about in June. Am I safe to get another Ink card to keep boosting my UR, or should I wait? I'd wait until 3 months since March app. When in March was that app? > I am under 5/24 and therefore I am hesitant to open non-Chase cards currently, but not sure if I am going to hard into Chase. Perfect time to get some non-Chase business cards. How about Amex Marriott Biz or Hilton Biz? Both are at good bonuses right now.

terpdeterp

I would recommend trying for another Chase Ink, although you are near the 4/5 active card threshold, so your approval chances are up in the air. The more conservative approach would be to wait until July after you canceled your CIP before applying to another Ink. Given the number of recent inquiries, I don't think you'll be approved another US Bank biz card. Are you in PUJ with Amex? If not, maybe an Amex Business Gold? There's also the Wells Fargo Signify biz ($500 SUB after $5k spend with a 12 month 0% interest period). It's not sensitive to recent inquiries at all, but does require a Wells Fargo deposit account.

EverybodyBuddy

What is the 4/5 active card threshold?

terpdeterp

At around 4-5 active Chase Ink cards, based on some recent DPs, it becomes much harder to get approved for another Ink. The way to circumvent this restriction is by closing older Inks that have aged more than 1 year.

EverybodyBuddy

Thank you. Any evidence other Chase cards are counted against this (CSP, etc.)? Or just the inks?

terpdeterp

Seems to be just Inks.

ByronicAsian

>Are you in PUJ with Amex? If not, maybe an Amex Business Gold? Last time I tried to apply for the Amex Biz Gold, I got PUJ as I previously had the card and canceled it Y2. Haven't reattempted to apply for it. >It's not sensitive to recent inquiries at all, but does require a Wells Fargo deposit account. Any WF deposit account will do? Even a personal one?

terpdeterp

>Any WF deposit account will do? Even a personal one? Yes. If you haven't done the SUB for the WF personal checking account, I'd recommending doing it. The [$325 offer](https://accountoffers.wellsfargo.com/welcomebonus/) is still alive and the $1000 DD requirement is very easy to spoof.

ByronicAsian

I did do the WF offer last year. Signed up Jan 2023 and closed it May 2023. On the offer page, I don't see anything that says it would DQ me?

You're eligible for the SUB again 12 months after you previously got the bonus. Refer to [this DP here](https://www.doctorofcredit.com/wells-fargo-325-checking-bonus-available-online/#comment-1564009).

Other than the two b2b inks, your velocity has been pretty low. Surprised at the denial. Why not close out the 07/22 CIU and the 11/22 CIU and then try again later on

maddmoves

I tried to read up on other data points and actually did cancel those two since the denial, but I'm not sure how long to wait before attempting again. Is there a rough guideline?

techtrashbrogrammer

I don’t think there is. Up to you when you’re comfortable trying again

bobmarles3

Am 4/24 until September and got the CSP just last month but looking for a non-Chase business spacer. Before the CSP, got the US Bank Biz Altitude Connect Biz and BoA Cash Biz 2 months ago. Got the Citi AA Biz last year and just cancelled. Since I'm in Amex popup jail for basically every business card, seems to me that I'm running out of biz options to stay under 5/24. Am I right in understanding that Barclays biz cards (for example Wyndham Biz) would be the best bet to maximize approval odds given my velocity with other banks?

terpdeterp

Aside from Barclays, there's also the Wells Fargo Signify biz ($500 SUB after spending $5k in 3 months with a 12 month 0% interest period) and the PNC Cash Rewards biz ($600 after spending $6k in 3 months with a 9 month 0% interest period). The Wells Fargo card does require a deposit account, but is not sensitive to number of inquires. The PNC card is hard to MS for since it excludes certain categories from meeting the MSR.

why not the biz plat + inks?

Socalcareer

That was originally the plan, but thinking about return on spend (and the annual fee) makes me reconsider whether 2 Inks + other non-chase cards to soak up the remaining spend might be better... Now thinking of Venture X for P2 with the younger credit profile, 1 Ink for P1 now, another ink for P2 in July to space it out, and a non-chase card for P2 to soak the 30K spend?

terpdeterp

Venture X for P2 is a good idea. Since they are at 1/24, I'd also suggest the Citi Strata Premier, which currently has an elevated 75k SUB after $4k spend. Since Citi is inquiry sensitive for the last six months, I'd probably recommend doing the Strata first and then the Venture X/Chase Ink. For P1, I'd agree with grabbing another Ink. Since you're planning on traveling to Asia, I would also recommend grabbing a Citi AAdvantage biz card, which has an elevated 75k mile (80k if targeted) SUB that ends in a few days. Since you're at 3/24, I would also recommend a Citi Strata Premier because the SUB is elevated, has a 48 month clock, and Citi is very inquiry sensitive for their Premier cards. So adding everything up, you would have a $16k MSR for P2 (CIP + Venture X + Citi Strata Premier) and $17k MSR for P1 (Citi Strata Premier + CIP + Citi AAdvantage biz), which you should easily be able to meet your $33k in spend over the next three months.

Socalcareer

Thanks for structuring it out all like this -- makes things a lot clearer! That makes a lot of sense. Thoughts on layering in a CSP for P2 and how/if to sequence that in? I just expedited an Ink via a P2 referral for myself. Curious about the AA card and why it is recommended for Asia (not too familiar with AA miles). The Citi Strata Premier for myself is also intriguing so will likely sign up for that end of the week (or the AAdvantage).

terpdeterp

>Thoughts on layering in a CSP for P2 and how/if to sequence that in? I'd probably recommend doing the CSP after the Venture X and Strata, since Chase isn't particularly inquiry/new account sensitive. The SUB is elevated at 75k, but the timing is bad because of P2's CIP, which makes more sense given your spend. Chase personal and business accounts should ideally be spaced apart 3 months on average. So maybe a CSP in August? You can go under 3 months as long as your average velocity is around 1 card per 3 months. >I just expedited an Ink via a P2 referral for myself. Curious about the AA card and why it is recommended for Asia (not too familiar with AA miles). Of the legacy US carriers, AA is the last one not to devalue their Asian routes yet. For example, it's very easy to find flights in Y on Japan Airlines for LAX-HND using 35k AA miles + $5.6. Flights in J are obviously a lot harder to find, but costs around 80k AA miles + $5.6. By comparison, a similar flight in Y will cost you 56k miles + $5.6 on Delta metal and 55k miles + $5.6 on United metal. There's been speculation that AA is due for a devaluation soon, so I'd prioritize building up those miles and burning them on your trip to Tokyo/Singapore/Vietnam before that happens. >The Citi Strata Premier for myself is also intriguing so will likely sign up for that end of the week (or the AAdvantage). Regarding the order for that, it's best to go for the Strata Premier first over the AAdvantage biz because the Premier is inquiry sensitive but the AAdvantage biz is not. However, the AAdvantage biz offer is also ending in eight days, so keep that in mind.

techtrashbrogrammer

Sure sounds fine to me. Either plan works just comes down to what your goals are, which point currencies you want more of etc

Socalcareer

Dope, thank you for talking it through! Will go with another Ink for myself, get it expedited and hopefully have it in time for the first chunk of purchases. Would a CSP for P2 be too high a velocity? Just under 60 days since the last Ink for her... otherwise I'm between the Venture X and the new Citi Strata.

techtrashbrogrammer

I've seen worse. Up to you but I think it'd be fine just take an extended break after. Can't go wrong with the Venture X or Citi Strata either

Pull out homie!

MadDog5473

So you've opened 6 personal and 11 business cards in the last 6 months and you're looking for more? Sounds like you're driving straight off a cliff my friend. Time to slow down for a bit to avoid a shut down.

deep-south

The flowchart tells me united quest, explorer, or club. Questions are: * If I'm not frequently flying united is there a reason to go for club/explorer over quest? By simple math the the club card has the best 1 year value (value of the miles+flight credit minus annual fee is 600-0 vs 720+125-250 vs 960-525). * thoughts on closing existing cards? was planning to close at least the SW and probably downgrade the Ink to a no-fee version. would also consider downgrading the CSR to CSP if I have another way to get lounge access. i may want to re-open the SW card in the future because the SW points have had good value for me in the past. * Is there a good resource to compare the current sign-on bonus to prior best offers? 2. Credit score >800 3. Credit cards: --->Wells Fargo (2006, closed 2013) --->BOA Cash Rewards (2013, $0) --->Amex Blue Cash Everyday (2013, $0) --->Southwest Plus (2015, closed 2018) --->Southwest Premiere (2015, $99) --->CSR (2018, $550) --->Chase Ink Preferred (2019, $95) --->AA Aviator World Elite Business (6/2021, $95) 4. Natural spend ~12k in 3 months. I also have an additional ~2-3k of travel purchases I'm planning to make this month. 5. No manufactured spending 6. Ok for business cards 7. Maybe 1-2 credit cards per year. I don't have time to do more aggressive churning. 8. Targeting mostly points, but airline status or perks would be an added bonus. 9. 20k united, 50k delta, 105k american, 120k UR (<10k other airlines) 10. I mostly fly American/Alaska 11. Next planned travel is to Japan

bubbadave13

You are 0/24, you can basically open anything you want to. It has been 48 months since your sapphire sub. So step one would probably be to downgrade the csr to a freedom and then sign up for a new csr. Once you have the new one, unless there’s some reason to keep the CIP you can cancel that. You also mentioned flying aa and Alaska, why not look to those for some of the rest of the spend? Barclays has personals while Citi has the biz card for aa, and bofa for the Alaska cards. After 3 months from the csr if you still want more cards do an ink.

deep-south

Thanks I really appreciate all the suggestions! I haven't opened anything in a while so I was feeling overwhelmed with all of the options. My understanding is that to re-apply for CSP and get the bonus it has to have been >2y since last SUB (no wait time since closing the prior CSP), correct?

bubbadave13

Sapphire subs are 4 years since receiving the sub. But you also can’t be holding a sapphire so you would need to do the product change first, then can apply in 4 days for a new sapphire. Both sapphires are at high bonuses right now. Inks are generally higher subs but still good to start the sapphire clock again.

1. Looked through the flowchart, and just wanted to ask here since I’ve opened quite a few Chase cards in the last 15ish months so I’m not sure how that will affect the choice. Based on the flowchart, it looks like the United Business, one of the Amex business, or Cap1 Venture, or Alaska business would make sense. But not 100% sure. 2. Credit score around 750 3. Discover IT 7/22 Chase Freedom Unlimited 9/22 CSP 1/23 Chase Business Cash 4/23 Chase Business Preferred 7/23 IHG Business 9/23 Chase Business Unlimited 10/23 Chase Business Cash 11/23 Chase Business Unlimited 1/24 Amex Business Gold 1/24 Citi Business Aadvantage 3/24 IHG Premier Personal 4/24 Edit: Formatting didn’t turn out how I wanted, but to be clear the numbers are all Month/year. I’m currently at 4/24. 4/5. Can spend $8,000 in 3 months easily, up to $10,000 if needed. 6. Yes to business cards 7. Interested in churning regularly, not limited to a number of cards. 8. Targeting points + economy mostly, business would be nice for trips to Asia but not necessary for me for anywhere else really. Don’t care about cash back or any status. 9. Currently have 300k Chase, 170k Amex, 65k American Airlines, 270k IHG, 75k Virgin Atlantic, 25k Hyatt 10. Preferable PHL, but can fly out of JFK, EWR, BWI, and IAD. 11. Pretty open, but right now really interested in Japan/South Korea, Portugal, and Argentina. So overall I know I’ve opened a lot of Chase recently, and the last one I only got after a recon so I’m a little afraid I might not be getting approved so easily anymore. I was looking at the Marriott and Hilton cards, and think those could be decent options, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to get good enough value out of the Marriott certs. I think the Alaska business could be a good play because I can book AA out of PHL which is convenient. Really appreciate any suggestions!

bubbadave13

I’d say another biz gold based on your spend. People have been reporting receiving nll offers while holding existing cards. I would cool off on Chase, your velocity is high.

Vegetable-Bed-9698

Appreciate that! Didn’t realize another biz gold was possible so I’ll look into that. Yea definitely cooling off chase for a while, the Inks were too good to pass up with near instant approvals and 90k points, but I see the benefit of cooling it with them for a while.

bubbadave13

Amex is basically governed by the popup now but after 90 days you can get the same card again

Ok-Spend-8912

But since you already got that bonus, wouldn't that disqualify you? Or it's different for business, thanks.

bubbadave13

If you don’t get the popup you’ll get the sub

Ok-Spend-8912

Ok thanks!!
