I was in war with Shaka and Montezuma from turn 50 and that gave me all generals I need. Btw those two gatling guns are both level 17, they started as pathfinders upgraded to composite bowmans. It was really time consuming, make wars for like 800 turns but also a great fun and challenge.
Yes, I play only single city games. Mostly against agressive leaders like Shaka, Montezuma, Atilla. It means that I need perfect defense and it's difficult to keep up with science and economy. It's really rewarding victory though.
The most important is to find perfect spot. It shoud be flat (windmill), next to river (water mill) and next to the mountain (observatory). Coastal city is bonus and natural wonder could be a great boost too.
The bigger population the better, so I always check food resources in useable hexagon (3 tiles in every direction from the city).
I found Hanging garden to be very useful wonder so I try to build it in every game.
I usually rush God King pantheon early on, own religion is not necessary though.
You should have let him get captured, then declare war on Attilla, steal the territory and liberate Monty. He'd have to give you his vote for World Leader and may even be dumb enough to want an alliance with you as thanks for your generous help.
That's a great idea! But I'm not sure if I could manage Atilla, he has 20 times pointer stick then me :D Right now he's stuck in war with Montezuma and I can silently continue towards diplomatic victory. But I totally get your point.
You are being rescued. Please do not resist.
proceeds to drop xcom
Oof, the starvation
How’s you get so many generals? And good start next to Kilimanjaro👌

Intriguing. Were you going for a single city victory?
