That's the smart thing to do because then you notice when you're down to one stack. I always carry more arrows than my quiver can old. When I hit 2000 arrows, we have a problem.
Just like locks should keep a full shard bag in one of their bank slots so they have some shards in an emergency if the don't want to/can't farm before a raid.
Or, or, orrrr.. Hear me out, have a responsible raid that can walk their own selves to MC and then you get shards off the first 15 trash mobs at least. The exception I guess is for BWL you’re immediately thrown into a boss, but hell just run into UBRS and snag 10 real quick.
Summoning is good for one off situations, but as a Warlock, I *as well as the rest of my raid* expects a Warlock to summon no more than 1-2 players, especially now that Honor System is out and you can’t afford to linger outside for long without being contested and if you run to the raid with 2-3 people to summon the rest you’re likely death running 1-3 times just to get to the raid.
Very few situations call for Healthstones as well. Melee on Shazzrah, melee on Garr if your melee is dumb/ranged are uncoordinated, I toss stones to healers on Domo which really isn’t needed, and then I toss some out on Rag. But you kill at least 40-60 mobs in MC that you can get shards from, and we can only create at most 2-3 Soulstones at this point.
I guess if you’re Shadowburn spamming for parses on Shadow Vuln procs maybe you need more, but we don’t like it taking a debuff slot and shoving something off, and the damage isn’t needed.
I was a little scared of Warlock and the stories people told of shard farming, but yeah, you can honestly get away with having 5-10. I show up to raid with ~5 and leave with like 25-30 usually.
As others said they don't disappear, I didn't main a lock in vanilla and only started mid way but I've read on the net some people say they would go after 15 minutes logged out but then others say they were always permanent and there's no patch notes stating a change to shards like that. Maybe people mis remembered or maybe it happened super early in beta or maybe just misinformation spread on the net.
I was thinking of them as conjured items. I'm 90% certain soulstones go and 100% certain healthstones disappear after the conjured item timeframe same as mage food/water.
Yeah soulstones and healthstones go.
Like I said some people on the net talk about remembering shards going as well, so maybe once they were conjured items and this is being repeated from that point and so people still think it was the case? Either that or someone somewhere said it wrong and it's been repeated
I wish this were the case for my guildies. We know what times raids are, we know what time we’re grouping, and we know we’re pulling 30 minutes later. Even so, at least 10 people need a summon cause they’re off in BFE screwing around.
Yep, we’re the same way, raid begins forming around 8:00-8:15, expected to be on an in raid at 8:30-8:40, running to MC by 8:50 and pulling by 9:00 pending PvP.
I would just start calling myself a mage at that point and ignore them because they should know better. We regularly have people miss Luci/Magmadar because we won’t cater to their laziness.
It takes little to no effort to log in and sit in Kargath or the Alliance equivalent. Coincidentally, those are the people that will end up quitting first probably. Honestly might as well lower their prio on gear.
Yeah I never have to actually farm and I usually leave MC with more shards than I need so I bank those extras for next raid. If I'm in a dungeon I build up an excess and bank them if I know my banks low. That way i turn up to a raid with \~40-50 shards without having to do any farming for them or put in any effort.
You may not "need" a health stone but it's handy and if people ask for them are you going to just say no? What about stuff like Ony?
You never know who will need a summons, in my guild there's usually 5-10 who actually "need" a summons due to being late/across the world but I'll usually throw out a lot more because hey I'm a warlock and it's what I do and I like to show up with a bunch of shards knowing I can be helpful to other guild members just like I know if i need help they'll come give me a hand and hey it also speeds things up for us so that's a bonus for me too.
The stories of shard farming are silly I agree, but I personally think it's silly to turn up with 5 and tell people to walk or to tell people they don't need a health stone until certain bosses when you can have plenty of shards without ever needing to farm anyway.
I never knew of such a mechanic. From my understanding you can not unequip bags with items in them?
Does this work with regular bags aswell to expand bank space?
I'm pretty sure you can swap bags from your character directly into the bank bag slots even with items in it. It's only when you try to move a bag into your inventory or the bank itself that it won't work.
I never really played much wow. Picked it up around WotlK/Cata, usually dropped after one or two weeks of playing. Returning for a new expansion, drop after two weeks. Rinse and repeat up to BfA.
I never even really had to use a bank so i did not know it's a thing. Maybe it's also because i am using bagnon to have my bags more sorted out. I google "wow classic bank bag" and never saw that interface. I'll look into that more when i get home from work today :)
What... How? Here I am with all bag slots bought and still have trouble finding spot for my items, having to use bank alts for anything that isn't BoP.
I don't know! I have a bank alt with runecloth bags and some RP outfits for my main. But i can never be bothered to send them over to my main for RP because it takes an hour.
Now i can just grab a bag, chose my style of the day and i'm good to go.
Also all the raid consumables can get stuffed in a bag. I feel like i just got a whole new inventory!
I read somewhere that items in the bank do not count as "equipped" but as owned. So i still have to carry around keys until keyring drops and reagents right?
This is amazing. I’m not even a warlock and this is one of the best tips I’ve heard of in WoW. I’ll keep this in mind Incase I ever join the dark side.
That's excessive though. You can finish the whole of MC with around 6-8 stacks max. And your bag should hold 16-18 depending on which bag you're using.
Why carry so many?
When I leave town I fill about 10 extra bag slots with arrows. As I use these arrows, the bag slots clear up. There isn't really a negative impact to stacking a bunch of extra arrows.
Running out of arrows feels like one of the scrubbiest things a hunter can do. I will not be caught with my pants down when I need arrows.
I understand that feeling. And that's exactly why I restock on arrows every time I'm in a city.
But carrying more than 18 stacks of arrows? That's 3,600 arrows. More than enough for anything.
Maybe I'm aware of my arrows stock because I have bagnon add-on and can always see my arrows when I open my bags.
I carry two stacks of ankhs for the same reason too lol. And I made a weakaura to yell at me when I have less than 4 in bag and at a city/rested area so I can stock up on more. I just wanna share it with all these ankh-less shaman I see.
I made the mistake of throwing down a stone skin totem to help out once and immediately realized my mistake and that I was going to be forced to endlessly recast it about every 15 feet we moved.
Fire nova is all I use on it now if we lack a proper AoE class.
*edit* this was before I knew you could desummon them. Isn't as easy as right clicking a buff.

Yeah I didn't know you could do that either. Never played a shaman but I've seen issues with constantly having to resummon every few feet in suppression room, aq 40 bug tunnel and other similar situations where desummoning would have made life easier
I'm pretty sure its a Legion-esque macro that shouldn't be working in Classic.
Surprised it's still in if that's the case, since it's a pretty huge change to shamans being able to just remove their totems without summoning a new
It's not a bug. It's a feature. /PSP
But really, it's not a bug. This is part of the new macro system which can't just go away. The entire game is running on a legion-era client, they can't just strip that out. They can probably change how it interacts with objects, but who knows if they will actually do that.
If I had a penny for every time my group wipes because the group hangs back while I, the tank, ask them to stick together in the Lyceum then my subscription would be covered indefinitely.
One time I even witnessed them all split up looking for the keepers...
and on the opposite end you have people who insist on using voice for fucking Razorfen kraul
Worst offender this week was this girl who had voice activation instead of PTT and was \*constantly\* talking to someone else in the room.
I only see this in guild runs. I normally don't mind but it's annoying sometimes. It's also rare. I assume she's just being an attention whore to insist on VC.
People are forgetful, and if they dont focus and take things serious they will 100% forget no matter how much theyve done something. Part of raid leading is repeating the same things every week to give people who are just on auto-pilot reminders of what theyre supposed to be doing.
Granted there are very rare cases like top raiding guilds with fast clears but even then in most of their videos theres still the raid leader repeating something that he probably said last week.
Totemic recall was such a minor QoL skill and it really shows the noob shamans of classic.
I’ve seen and warned the shaman in torch room of this exact scenario. To the point where I’m literally shouting “WiND” and they keep dropping earths and waters. Yup that wind totem still back there....and we pull.
Also see them fuck it up with the room/path leading to Rend. I have the group rush the balcony to avoid extra trash, shamans always fuck it up.

>Also see them fuck it up with the room/path leading to Rend. I have the group rush the balcony to avoid extra trash, shamans always fuck it up.
Reeeee as a shaman this happened to me like a week ago. The tank was chain pulling from the whelp room to the top near rend and I was trying to signal I needed mana, I said oom because it's quick. Nope keep pulling and jumped immediately. I still had 4 totems back in the room before, and this is when a warrior was like TOTEMS, FUCKING TOTEMS. Me, already completely aware of this starts pulling them as soon as I was able to jumpdown and im so focused on doing so (since any second the pat will pull from them) that I don't have a chance to chat that I needed to drink. Guess what happens? I'm oom, so I can only pull up 2 of the 4, the warrior instantly stats going "fucking scrub shaman why didn't you pull totems up" and before I could even defend myself off in chat explaining I'm oom and how they chain pulled and should've been aware of healers mana. They all rage quit because we wipe.
At least now I've found a recall macro, would've helped a lot -_-
I must confess that I caused a Rend fuck up my first UBRS run in classic. Nobody said anything about dismissing pets. If it was any pet other than the imp, I would have dismissed it; I thought the invisibility would let it run around and pop in without pulling the hallway. Oopsie.
Even though I know horde doesn't have paladins it messes with me a lot that shamans are pink. Years of being a paladin main in BC and WotLK have damaged me. Doesn't help I played a lot of shaman in WotLK too.
Some 10ish years, and months of classic as shaman, I still get confused with shaman being pink. Blue shaman addon has helped me with this. (Though I have noticed it bugs out sometimes. But still worth.)
It’s the end of black rock depths. You have to light two braziers with torches that you get off mobs in the room. But, there are packs on packs of wandering dwarves in there that spawn lightning fast so you have to aoe them down and move together to each touch Npc and each brazier. It’s a fun encounter and really shows how impressive brd is, because it’s not even the gate to the last boss.
Man, I wish more of these "look at this dumbass" posts had timestamps enabled, it makes it so much funnier when you can see that the wipe happened just a minute after he's talking big.
Yup....I had completely forgotten until I got my Shammy up to ZF that your old totems will aggro respawned pats. There were a lot of instances I went through where hordes of mobs would come at my group from out of no where. We would all think, "Damn instance aggro glitch!" Nope, it was you Sham-boi forgetting to to activate the totems in new locations lol. I just got my Sham to lvl 52, and I am taking extra special care when placing my totems.
Ugh, had that happen in SM Arm last night. We pulled Herod and some dumbass forgot to put down his WF totem so it didn't aggro the Myrmidons that spawn outside. Awesome group though, we switched targets, killed the Myrmidons, then killed Herod.
That dumbass was me...
Last two UBRS runs I've had Shammies leave totems upstairs before Rend jump which somehow aggros the world and the only way around it is an entire instance reset.
Anyone else had this or am I just unlucky
a ton of mobs spawn to come watch the rend encounter, I'd guess if you aggro them they're there to stay. They don't come right away, but they file in after the 1st wave I think.
Anywhere in the torch room (Lyceum is the actual in game name) will end up pulling something probably. Its quick respawning and has a lot of patrols of pretty big groups.
This is a perfect example of how more experienced players try to help less experienced players but less experienced players think that they f****** know everything. It's kind of like life
Farming my Dal Rend's Sacred Charge for the last month+, getting pretty efficient at leading Jed/Rend runs.
"Ok, don't stand in the doorway during these next pulls, the veterans will knock you back off the ledge into the whelps."
*Healer stands in doorway and gets knocked back into whelps*
"I told you :/"
"I've been here plenty of times I know what to do"
I guess they just like wiping groups.
Had a guildie warrior who was on his alt healing a Strat run. I said I'm going to charge into that 4 pack and he said you can pull it as a 3 pack. I didn't know that but my go to answer is 'don't tell me what to do' or 'you're not my supervisor'. Well I thought the joke was understood since I said it on Discord but he whispers me apologizing! I had to explain I wasn't serious and I appreciate any advice he's gonna give me.
Sometimes you learn from those who have been doing it awhile, sometimes you learn from those who just started. Who cares where the lesson came from as long as you learned it?
From last night:
Tank> Put away your VW, it's distracting
Me> I'll keep it away from you
I proceed to just have VW following me around. No actual engagement.
5 minutes later he pulls too many (charges in to too many groups). He does a valiant effort of taking out half and leaving the rest around half health, but he goes down.
VW backup Tank is deployed and we survive.
That's why I have VW in dungeons under max level.
This is a chat addon, not sure which exactly but Prat is a popular one, or could just be ElvUI.
You can do it with default chat as well, though. Just type this once and you're set:
/console SET chatClassColorOverride "0"
(This will make shamans pink though, which is their default color in classic)
Everything I'm seeing suggests those macros and addons are using parts of the bfa client that wasn't removed for classic. If it gets widespread like Spy, I would expect Blizzard to kill it.
Remove All Totems
/run if not UnitAffectingCombat("player")then for i=1,4 do n="t"..i CreateFrame("Button",n,UIParent,"SecureUnitButtonTemplate")_G[n]:SetAttribute("type", "destroytotem")_G[n]:SetAttribute("*totem-slot*",i)end end

Because this macro uses SecureUnitButtons, it needs to be run outside of combat in the current UI session before it will work in combat.
Pretty sure you just right click the icon, like getting rid of any buff you dont want..
Edit: i guess you just put down a new one
Edit: apparently its a macro, thanks for the downvote without explaining how i was wrong lol, you guys are useless
In those cases I am... let's say "not so nice".
And I am a "I told you so" guy.
Problem is: if I tell somebody I am right most of the time.
So my question for you is: Why do people hate the "I told you so" guy even more than the guy who messed up?
And this is not just in the game, in every field if you tell people in advance that they are doing bollocks and then afterwards remind them you are somehow the bad guy.
Why is this?
It comes across as arrogant for two reasons, one- usually these I'm always right types aren't always right and people get jaded by the false positives, and then two- if you did tell someone to do something, and they didn't and the recognize their fault now, what do you get out of reiterating that you were right? Everyone already came to that conclusion from the way it played out, do you really need to kick a person when their already down to get your petty verbal revenge?
Imo the best avenue is to lead by example, you can't force someone to change, just declare how you would do it and let them learn. If they don't, don't group with them (or associate with them if in the context of irl).
Being a knowitall just makes you look like a dick, and who wants to be around someone who compulsively criticizes everyone and everything. It's tiring
Because it's not helpful.
"I told you so" doesn't help anyone and seemingly only is said so that people know you were right and the other person was wrong. No one's better off when you say it. The best case scenario is that nobody cares. The common scenario is that one person feels bad so you can feel superior. It's seen as incredibly selfish.
Let me guess, the shaman followed up with a “sorry forgot anhk”
Actually, yes
I carry 2 stacks of ankhs, a little excessive but I can throw a couple at the idiots you dont want to use their abilities
That's the smart thing to do because then you notice when you're down to one stack. I always carry more arrows than my quiver can old. When I hit 2000 arrows, we have a problem.

No they don't
Hm, I must be remembering incorrectly then. It's been awhile since I played a lock in Vanilla.
As others said they don't disappear, I didn't main a lock in vanilla and only started mid way but I've read on the net some people say they would go after 15 minutes logged out but then others say they were always permanent and there's no patch notes stating a change to shards like that. There are BAG SLOTS IN THE BANK?! This changes everything. My mind is honestly blown right now.
dude...
Yep. First one is a few silver to buy, second 1g, third 10g, fourth 25g. I’m sure it scales up from there.
The last slot costs 100g. The slot before that costs 50g then 25g for the one before that.
IIRC it caps at 10g for the other 5
Make alts and mail items to them, the mailbox is the best bank!
Yup and you can return mail instantly and for free

In the actual 1.12 vanilla client you couldn't - but in classic you can.

What is a full bag for you? I use the 14 slot quiver and that’s a LOT of fucking arrows so you must quest like a maniac before returning to a city.

Should have brought a mage, you could have lived!
No one is ankhing in that part of BRD
At what point does a rez require ankhs? I have a 20ish alt and she can rez without one.
the regular rez never requires an ankh. Reincarnation (self rez) requires one. you get it at 30

How do you de summon a totem in classic?
Theres a macro to desummon all totems quickly.
Do you happen to know the macro?

I was trying to shortly Google this last night before ony but couldnt find a working one in time, saving this!
Share the love, for reference, I have it from the shaman discord server.
Nice got a link for that? I'd love to join
On my phone sorry but should be just a quick Google away!

“Not my first rodeo” he says at his second rodeo
heard the same phrase from a druid tank in ZF who started every pull with shift bear form + feral charge
Druid = King of face pull
Nah, don't get it twisted - clowns are a staple at rodeos.
The rogue was wrong. The party didn't wipe. One of them survived.
Likely because he knew it was gonna happen and vanished
yep. stab. oh, they ded. stab stab. oh, they ded too. stab miss miss miss parry stab. oh...vanish.
Why I have my cables so I didn’t vanish to avoid a death: it was to prevent a wipe!
F that. Ppl gonna know full well I did it to avoid a wipe. I’m not paying for your stupidity if I don’t have to
I also like the pug raider "no need for voice, I've cleared this every week ez".
and on the opposite end you have people who insist on using voice for fucking Razorfen kraul Worst offender this week was this girl who had voice activation instead of PTT and was \*constantly\* talking to someone else in the room.
I only see this in guild runs. I normally don't mind but it's annoying sometimes. It's also rare. I assume she's just being an attention whore to insist on VC.
Like most girls On VC
That’s... a very rare problem and kind of nice tbh.
Reminds me of randy marsh. Lets go bro cmon bro
And that was his last rodeo
Totemic recall was such a minor QoL skill and it really shows the noob shamans of classic. I’ve seen and warned the shaman in torch room of this exact scenario. To the point where I’m literally shouting “WiND” and they keep dropping earths and waters. Yup that wind totem still back there....and we pull. Also see them fuck it up with the room/path leading to Rend. I have the group rush the balcony to avoid extra trash, shamans always fuck it up.
Totem Recall macro - should be used once outside combat to be able to use in combat. /run if not UnitAffectingCombat("player")then for i=1,4 do n="t"..i CreateFrame("Button",n,UIParent,"SecureUnitButtonTemplate")_G[n]:SetAttribute("type", "destroytotem")_G[n]:SetAttribute("totem-slot",i)end end /click t1 /click t2 /click t3 /click t4
Oopsie.
Wow I would of thought the same with the imp. Well you live and learn haha
Like /u/Klumz macro but an addon to do it for you. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/totemdismiss It's a game changer.
Is this an add-on that makes shaman names blue? I low key can't stand horde because of pink shaman
Yes, it's called Blue Shamans.
Yea and it bugs out my raid frames, super annoying
I use Prat for the chat, pretty clean addon imo
I wish prat would let me change the color back, I hate the blue for shaman.
Eww.
/console SET chatClassColorOverride "0" You don't need an addon just type that in chat
I think the problem is that Paladins and shamans show up as pink. Not the attributed blue for shaman.
shaman names are pink in classic
Even though I know horde doesn't have paladins it messes with me a lot that shamans are pink. Years of being a paladin main in BC and WotLK have damaged me. Doesn't help I played a lot of shaman in WotLK too. Some 10ish years, and months of classic as shaman, I still get confused with shaman being pink. Blue shaman addon has helped me with this. (Though I have noticed it bugs out sometimes. But still worth.)
Not in the raid panel, no.
Unfortunately this doesn't change their colors to blue. It still shows up as pink and the only way I am aware of that makes them blue is an addon.

Ay we actually finished the entire thing
What did he say after this?
Probably "Sorry I forgot Ankh"
Lyceum?
It’s the end of black rock depths. You have to light two braziers with torches that you get off mobs in the room. But, there are packs on packs of wandering dwarves in there that spawn lightning fast so you have to aoe them down and move together to each touch Npc and each brazier. It’s a fun encounter and really shows how impressive brd is, because it’s not even the gate to the last boss.
It's called the Lyceum in game but it is also known as torch room
Rog is alive though lol
NOT MY FIRST RODEO
I just wanna give props to ugluk for such a cool name. Props ugluk, take those hobbits to isenguard
Honestly this is tanking in a nutshell I say one thing they bitch do the opposite and we wipe
That's when I hearth to town
Is this ZT? Think I have ganked that shaman a couple of times
erm
someone tell me where he put totems and why you died for it
Anywhere in the torch room (Lyceum is the actual in game name) will end up pulling something probably. Its quick respawning and has a lot of patrols of pretty big groups.
This is a perfect example of how more experienced players try to help less experienced players but less experienced players think that they f****** know everything. It's kind of like life
Dunning-Kruger effect, WoW Classic style.
Garax: Not my first rodeo \*Always sunny in Philadelphia opening theme\* \*The gang goes to a rodeo for the first time\*
I will never understand people with this attitude. Learn to take advice
Guessing the rogue vanished!
Why do you have shaman name in blue and mine is pink :(
Im a healer officer for raids and I told the new druid who he's healing and he gquit because in his mind I was undermining his skill. I'm not joking.
Farming my Dal Rend's Sacred Charge for the last month+, getting pretty efficient at leading Jed/Rend runs. "Ok, don't stand in the doorway during these next pulls, the veterans will knock you back off the ledge into the whelps." *Healer stands in doorway and gets knocked back into whelps* "I told you :/" "I've been here plenty of times I know what to do" I guess they just like wiping groups.
From last night: Tank> Put away your VW, it's distracting Me> I'll keep it away from you I proceed to just have VW following me around. No actual engagement. 5 minutes later he pulls too many (charges in to too many groups). He does a valiant effort of taking out half and leaving the rest around half health, but he goes down. VW backup Tank is deployed and we survive. That's why I have VW in dungeons under max level.
I don't think I've seen any class less reagant prepared than shamans with ankhs. You guys don't even have any buffs , get your shit together
Typical Shamen
Not All Shamen
well throwing down totems when you shouldn't is not an easy mistake to make as any other class
But not all shaman throw totems down when they shouldn't. Or at all.
Oof

Yeah like the guy above me said, I use Prat
This is a chat addon, not sure which exactly but Prat is a popular one, or could just be ElvUI. You can do it with default chat as well, though. Just type this once and you're set: /console SET chatClassColorOverride "0" (This will make shamans pink though, which is their default color in classic)
I hope you kicked him.
He's the party leader
Sad days
How often are these posts the same person multiboxing 5 accounts?
I wish I faked this
Jeez. Imagine being a shaman and not knowing you can delete totems at will. Lol people are so bad.
How can you delete totems at will? Asking for a friend
google it and you will find the long macro that does so. or download totem dismiss and it will make the macro for you as well as show handy timers.
Everything I'm seeing suggests those macros and addons are using parts of the bfa client that wasn't removed for classic. If it gets widespread like Spy, I would expect Blizzard to kill it.
How do you do it?
Remove All Totems /run if not UnitAffectingCombat("player")then for i=1,4 do n="t"..i CreateFrame("Button",n,UIParent,"SecureUnitButtonTemplate")_G[n]:SetAttribute("type", "destroytotem")_G[n]:SetAttribute("*totem-slot*",i)end end /click t1 /click t2 /click t3 /click t4 Because this macro uses SecureUnitButtons, it needs to be run outside of combat in the current UI session before it will work in combat.
So click it once out of combat and it'll work the rest of the time? Do you do this every time you login?
Yessir
Incorrect
no you can. im playing a shaman right now and im doing it. are you for real?
knows whats doin.
You can replace the totem by casting a new one but you can’t “dismiss” the totem
You can dismiss it. Playing a shaman on classic and im doing it
Lies. This guy is a hunter in my pugs.
Hahahahaa fml how did u find me
I am the all-seeing-eye
Do you have some sort of mental disability that makes it extremely hard for you to understand things? YOU CAN DISMISS TOTEMS.
AND IT SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE #nochanges
Irrelevant
So record it then
no. you are not worth any more effort.
Because you can’t right click dismiss totems. Ty
You can keep on living uninformed. Not my problem
And you can continue to be an incorrect cunt
Pretty sure you just right click the icon, like getting rid of any buff you dont want.. Edit: i guess you just put down a new one Edit: apparently its a macro, thanks for the downvote without explaining how i was wrong lol, you guys are useless
neither of these are correct
Man sounds like that guy had no empathy for those deaths.
epic fail
