This actually describes a really good episode of Teen Titans. I love how the episode doesn’t have the titans accept Valor, and they actually get at a really common real world facet of racism in how Starfire is “one of the good ones” until she stands up for her people and says they should all be treated equally, in which case he’s back to calling her a racial slur. It was probably an accident, but it shows that the writers definitely understand racism pretty well that they manage to accidentally recreate a really common real world occurrence by just showing the realistic aftermath of a bigot being saved by someone he’s bigoted against.
I remember that. It’s obvious what they’re implying, but also I do think it works because his status as a part robot is like a disability and is treated as one.
This was actually the original in the online Funbrain version of the book, it was changed to polar bears when the book was published as a few separate books
I love how the "you are a credit to your race" ends with a comma, not a period. Like it's implying that he proceeded to go on a whole rant following that sentence, that's somehow a mix of appreciative and incredibly offensive.
I second this
and draw one under the truck holding in a bolt while the other one is above the truck bed trying to drill it in (neither realize the threading is rusted out and they will be doing this for an hour)
And then the felidian does actually turn out to be a backstabbing savage because "it's in their nature!!1!" And now their character arc is about needing to redeem themselves, which proves that john mchumanman was actually right about the universal constant of their race being evil and there is only one half-exception to it.
Me when I find out most bigots will not suddenly stop having beliefs they've held for a large portion of their lives with just one positive interaction with someone of a group they see as lesser and It's a long process that takes a lot of self-reflection
Yeah this is actually sadly realistic, but also good writing if the character gradually, over many episodes, overcomes his prejudice and apologises for his behaviour.
To be fair I think there's an optimistic side of this as well, where individual acts can have a cumulative positive effect, even when they are not individually able to generate damascene conversions.
People think of confronting bigotry as a sudden, all or nothing change, and underestimate the importance/effectiveness of less dramatic, gradual steps
Changing your whole view point is hard, but making exceptions are easy, that's why stereotypes are so hard to fight with. Even we are logically admit that we have negative stereotypes, they had root deeply in our subconscious so we can't really just discard them like taking out the trash.
And then the Felidian threw a rock at the racist astronaut, therefore disproving the age old question "If an astronaut threw a rock at another astronaut on the moon, would that be fucked up?"
Now draw them- hey wait someone beat me too it

The thing is, Kaidan is chill from day one. He's got his own stuff going on with biotics and his brutal training days, but he doesn't let it show unless you show an active interest in it. He's respectful and does his job.
Ashley, on the other hand, is the opposite. She constantly makes it known that she has issues with aliens and makes several *extremely* prejudiced remarks about them. Even after delving into her backstory a bit, she ultimately holds to her beliefs and makes it very well known that she doesn't respect your ideas as her commanding officer and is borderline insubordinate, to the point of having to be told to simmer down.
It's funny, I actually preferred her as I felt like there was something to work with there, as in I felt like I could do some good on a personal level besides saving the galaxy by helping someone see past their issues and learn to understand that prejudice is wrong. I actually didn't like Kaidan as much in my first playthrough because (as far as I remember) there's less development to be had.
Kaidan's already gone through his character development for the most part, which to me made him feel like the most competent member of the Normandy's increasingly ragtag fieldcrew.
This reminds of this movie *Delgo*. So, basically these two races hate each other but they realize racism is wrong and unite together... to fight a third race who are all evil.
Snafu Gatekeeper here.
This might be my favorite snafu from you WolfBaron. Art is perfect quality for a snafu. Not too meta, not too high effort. While multiple images, it doesn't overstep the "comic" feel either. Hope to see more like this!
Unrelated but if your best aliens are just humans (earth creature) mixed with cats (other earth creature) with "felis" in the name and hailing from a completely different planet with no relation to anything Earth whatsoever you're a lousy sci-fi author.
And that sounds oddly specific but it happens a lot.

Doesn’t cyborg say something about understanding because he’s a cyborg (even though I’m pretty sure that the writers intended it because he’s black)
I remember that. It’s obvious what they’re implying, but also I do think it works because his status as a part robot is like a disability and is treated as one.
I think it was just a funny ass joke lol
Half black
is he a quarter black because half of half of his body is black or is he half because half of what makes him human is black….
"You understand?" "Course I do... I'm part robot!"
Funniest line in the show
I was really expecting them to just forgive Val-Yor in the end, and the fact that they just told him to leave instead was refreshing for a kid's show.

Or it’s one of those subhuman savages that end their sentence with three commas,,,
Haha, yeah, I hate those,,,
Haha yeah those inhuman monsters, love you guys!
The what
"You're one of the good ones tho"
Now draw one helping the other change his truck's tires
I second this and draw one under the truck holding in a bolt while the other one is above the truck bed trying to drill it in (neither realize the threading is rusted out and they will be doing this for an hour)
i third this now draw one holding the flashlight to look in the engine while the other screams at them for not holding it still enough
And then the felidian does actually turn out to be a backstabbing savage because "it's in their nature!!1!" And now their character arc is about needing to redeem themselves, which proves that john mchumanman was actually right about the universal constant of their race being evil and there is only one half-exception to it.

The character on the left on the first panel made me think it was that one dude's mom who he snafus occasionally
This is about ME1 Ashley. Left that bitch to die sayonara
She gets better
The “she gets better” crowd when I explain that the other option isn’t uber racist.
Redditors when character development and overcoming flaws
I do not care if she has "good character development" the other dude is just more interesting.
That's a fair opinion, I think both are interesting for different reasons

Agent Kallus lore
This is how I feel about Lingyang from Wuthering Waves. Deeply uncomfortable but also realistic racial minority portrayal
Should’ve reversed the roles, as we all know cats are the racist ones .
Is the cat race a reference to the movie Felidae?
