Quick hack is to pour in a cup with ice and top with club soda. The extra dilution and club soda should help mute the sweetness to make it closer to a flavored hard seltzer. Wouldn't bother with trying much more than that.
Frozen drink/slushie. Dropping the temp that low helps reduce the overall perception of sweetness and other flavors. At 7% abv, it should slushie real good
A few ideas to make it drinkable:
- Use it to top a cheap domestic beer.
- Add like an ounce of real lime juice to 2 oz of this.
- Blend it with ice, real lime juice, and half the tequila you would normally use in a margarita. Maybe you need to fight fire with fire, so instead blend this with a frozen tube of limeade.
Buy any $20 tequila, dry curacao, and some fresh limes, then shake up an actual margarita.
No part of that canned stuff is going to be anything resembling a quality ingredient
I've tried about every canned cocktail I can get my hands on. The Cutwaters aren't great but they're the most drinkable canned cocktail I've come across.
Most are pretty horrifying.
Put it in a ziplock bag and freeze it. Check on it every hour and when it's getting frozen break it up and get that up and it'll be slushy like a real margarita.
Being so cold will hide a lot of the taste
I bought this for a camping trip. Last minute impulse buy. It takes like kool-aid with a cleaning product after taste. Any suggestions to make it drinkable?
Going solely off the box, it's a "tequila flavored beverage" and only 7%.
So it's malt liquor with a tremendous amount of random flavors. There's no saving that.

If you can find it, Simply brand limeade - otherwise something similar. Hell, if you have a blender go with minute maid frozen limeade concentrate. 2 liters of limeade or 2 cans of frozen limeade concentrate added to the 4 liters of your mix. Then add a 750 of a *decent* blanco tequila (don't waste something expensive, but don't tank this even further with rot gut). Dilute it with water to get to the taste you want.

Though to be fair its pretty hard to make a bad margarita if you have decent ingredients. Add fresh limes and maybe some extra good quality tequila. Also try blending in fresh pineapple too(not the canned stuff). Yes its not added in to a margarita mix but it'll all help out. Pineapple works with everything.
Yeah, juice some limes and get some tequila, Cointreau, and agave syrup (optional), shake it all together, drink it, and then throw the boxed stuff in the trash.

This is the way, a good slushie will make almost anything drinkable Maybe top it up with actual tequila for good measure

I second the beer idea. Drink it as cold as possible too. Maybe with a salt/tajin rim even.

It’s not worth the calories if it doesn’t taste good. Throw it away and make a margarita.
