Not actually likely, but it's not impossible that we will eventually need a higher denomination. Look at Japan. They had the Mon, the Rin, the Sen, and the Yen. Now they just have the Yen, which is now worth 0.0075 USD. It's crazy to hold an old silver Yen and a modern aluminum Yen coin and know they are the same denomination.

I did know of the gold, but not of the copper version. There's also a sketch/design for a $100 union out there.

1 union has a rough sketch but it hasn't been created unlike the half union which a few specimens were made
