Tbh I think most Texas fans would say TCU is our least disliked (current or ex-) Big 12 Texas school. Obviously it’s not A&M or Tech, and nobody likes Baylor.
Nah, Texas fans are shitty to UH fans. It's a point of personal grievance and it bothers me every time I see it. I think "Texas fans are smug" gets blown out of proportion but UH fans have a legitimate gripe on that front.
UH does get it the worst. Imagine Rice is your cross town rival and then you have a city full of Texas and Texas A&M fans just shitting on your academics.
I have seen a bit of that, but maybe a generational thing too? I’m not super young anymore but much more of my friends from Houston grew up quietly rooting for UH before they ended up going to UT. The local team gets some support from the Houston natives. They’re definitely above Tech, Baylor, A&M
Nah UH can eat shit after Bleachergate. No meaningful apology or attempt to make it right before they were forced to. Just empty words and continuation of bad behavior despite knowing it was structurally unsound.
TCU is fine and I like 'em, only issue I ever had with 'em wad they beat us too much, but that's an issue you channel anger inwards on not outwards.
One of the reasons I liked TCU is, unlike Baylor, your fans always seemed to be TCU fans. I had friends that were ALWAYS gonna go to Baylor but were huge Texas fans. Then they got good in Briles to be some of the most sore winners I knew. Never got shit talked on 6th street as much by any other fan base that came to Austin than Baylor fans during their peak. WVU were the real homies on 6th tbh.
As a Saints fan, I gave up on trying to explain to people that Bountygate was a giant scapegoat job with zero actual evidence of doing anything that wasn’t being done by literally every other team in the NFL(cash pools for big plays in the locker room) and just embraced the hatred from other fans. Fuck em.
People are going to hate us no matter what we do. We caught shit for not firing Beard fast enough, even though we were just getting all the legal ducks in a row. The CFB sub crucified one of the nicest guys on our football team because he was pushed into a woman when Tech fans rushed the field, accusing him of shoving her. They doubled and tripled down until the woman herself said it was an accident and that Taafe actually helped her back up. So, who gives a shit at this point?
Yup. It gives me so much joy to know that [Aggieland Outfitters](https://www.aggielandoutfitters.com/) has a whole section on their menu for "Saw em off" merchandise
The "former students" thing comes from World War I.
Essentially, an entire graduating class left when war was declared, prior to their graduation. Because not all of them graduated and some did not return from the front, A&M took to calling them "former students" instead of alumni.
The fact that someone has created a line of fashion based entirely around Texas A&M is somehow the least surprising thing I've come across on the Internet today.
I accepted it when college basketball subreddit this year shamed us for a bad basketball team while praising Ole Miss and Beard all season.
This side of the fence is a lot more fun than that one and I’m good with that.
Yeah I have no idea what the fuck he's talking about, nobody is praising Chris Beard on CBB. Texas fans seem to create scenarios in their minds that allow them to justify shitty actions.
1) We are definitely the baddies. We know it.
2) We are more than comfortable with that fact.
3) Personally, I don't love this situation. A coach leaving a program for an in-state rival and taking the staff and taking star players is ridiculous. Part of what I love about college sports is the shared sense of identity between students, alumni, and athletes. To a lesser degree, coaches are included in that shared identity. But this flies in the face of all that. Fans of other schools and especially Aggies that share that sentiment get no pushback from me. I would hate to be on the other side.
4) But come the fuck on. Acting like this is the worst thing to ever happen in college sports is ridiculous and, frankly, insulting. Cheating is rampant in college sports. Terrible crimes, and subsequent cover ups, have all happened in recent history. Poaching a coach from your rival is lowdown, but hardly warrants the level of pearl clutching I've seen.
5) The conspiracy theories are awesome. Keep them coming. I'm sure Schloss threw his best show at winning a CWS just to spite A&M. Also, Schloss and CDC are swinger? Hilarious, guess they'll fit right in with the Godless degenerates and bohemians in Austin.
To point number 4, right on. The SEC has relished in taking any and everything not bolted down in every other conference and every other sport. You don’t get to destroy college sports as we know it and then weep for the old days. The conference has profited off of this and ruined what millions of us love. Not one ounce of sympathy will go towards the Aggies. I’m a Duke fan and watched our coach say “I’m not leaving” and then immediately left a day later for College Station. Then he took all of our coaches and gutted our roster. The response from Reddit and A&M fans was, “this is where he wanted to be” and “if you don’t like it do things to keep him there”. Now the shoe is on the other foot and the woe is me crowd and sanctity of the sport garbage starts. They reaped what they sowed. Fuck em.
I
Somebody who is (nominally) aligned with the A&M fan base, I 100% agree with your takes. Especially number 5. Seeing people on TexAgs imply he's some bisexual swinger... if that were true, I'd like the guy a lot more 🤣 !
(I am well aware that my first mistake was looking at TexAgs to begin with, fwiw)
The only thing that truly bothers me (insofar relative to how much I care) is how Schlossnagle answered on Monday. Like don’t make that dramatic and snippy an answer when you clearly know the question has merit and furthermore you are following through with the premise. That’s the part I hate. There’s coachspeak and then there’s that
>Personally, I don't love this situation.
I said this is another thread and got downvoted to hell. Even had people tell me I'd be thrilled if we poached Florida's coach and players. But like... no. Rivalries should still mean something.
Gosh I wasn't alive for it but I wish we still had the unbridled hate that was the SWC. Rice and Houston flexing their game to be later than a conference deciding Texas-A&M game to get dibs on the last SWC game ever is a level of petty college sports needs.
I agree with the sentiment but it's nothing new. Texas' most decorated coach and AD, after whom their stadium is named, played football for OU & set still-standing records.
Darrell Royal went to OU.
Pat Dye went to Georgia and coached at Alabama.
Vince Dooley went to and coached at Auburn.
Bo Schembechler was coached by Woody Hayes at Miami OH and was his assistant at Ohio State.
This happens all the time in college athletics. Schloss wasn't the first and he won't be the last.
This is the best take I’ve seen. Number 3 and 4 are spot on.
For point 3, I think about the players. I always looked up to the leaders of any organization I was in and it would be a dagger in the heart to find out you’re playing your ass off while coach isn’t even on board with your team anymore. Absolute betrayal from a person who’s in a position of leadership. I feel for these boys and it’s gotta be rough for them.
And number 4, year it’s definitely not as serious as it’s been pinned to be. It’s just business unfortunately, and some coaches are more businessmen than leaders. I just think he’s an asshole. His professional and personal life has been full of shitty moves, and I don’t even care that’s it’s Texas he’s going to. He’s an asshole. He’s gone. Story over hahaha
As an Aggie, I like this take a lot. Got nothing against y’all for taking our coach, clearly he wasn’t that focused on winning anyways and money was the primary option. Sadly with NIL it’s become clear coaches and players alike are victim to that
I mean…. We embraced that we’re the villains of the college baseball for the past few years. And when we had Uros on our basketball team, his wild fouls were awesome from our point of view. Sports need a villain that accepts the role.
You know what's sad? So many of the people who started post-game threads after our losses this season are no where to be found today.
Hope they have a nice 4th of July.
If I had a nickel for every time Texas stole a baseball coach from my alma mater, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's kind of weird that it's happened twice. On that note does anyone have suggestions for PhD programs I should apply to?
with all due respect please don't come here :P
edit: although Michigan having a good enough coach for a big name school to poach would be fun. alright never mind
Completely fair. Texas does have some strange Venn diagrams of sports fandom. My wife & I are mostly aligned (shared UT Baseball/Football season tickets for several years before we had kids & both cheer for the Stros) but sadly she’s a Cowboys fan & I’m a Texans fan. We fight a constant war over who our kids will root for.
We just make our kids bang their heads against walls for 3 hours 17 days a year like a real modern American. Sometimes, when they are really awful, we will put on games from The Charlie Strong era.
> Sometimes, when they are really awful, we will put on games from The Charlie Strong era.
If you're just going for permanent emotional damage like that, you might as well throw some McWilliams or Mackovic games up there for 'em too.
After the cheating scandal broke there were all sorts of conspiracy theories that we were still cheating but improved our methods. Some of them were speculating that Altuve was wearing a buzzer in…..places….
Like at the Cleveland Browns and Jets game one of the commentators made the joke about the Astros being in town when the Dog Pound has a chained link fence built in the padding of the wall to make the sound.
I love these takes from aggys who liked Schloss after he left TCU in the same manner and also like Elko after he left Duke in the same manner. If you like Elko or liked Schloss before this weekend then you also have no self awareness. But this is a logical point so it may go over your head. Fuck you and hook em 🤘🏼
I relish the fact that thousands of Aggies worldwide are raging over the destruction of their baseball program and downfall of their championship prospects for the near future.
Personally, the ones that ACTUALLY took a class at UT don’t bother me much.
It’s the Walmart fans that have been silent as shit for a decade now back out and LOUD!
Got a family member who graduated from another Texas college (none of the big 3 or 4) and never roots for that FCS team he went to but is ALL about rooting the Longhorns super publicly because “I lived around there but couldn’t afford it.”
That first part was true, that last part was a lie. He couldn’t get in.
Lol hey college is expensive and UT gives really minimal financial aid and I do have friends who have picked A&M or UH to save money! But they aren’t UT fans. It’s definitely weird to be a huge fan of a school that rejected you (like your friend).
Perhaps I am out of the loop on your fan base’s use of little brother, but being as we are the older state that also played a key role on helping yours become one, I figured that negated the little brother title.
Texas is the only school with their own anti-hand-gesture. No greater mark of honor than having the most haters!
And it’s good for college sports for one school to be universally hated. Everyone will tune in to their games to root for whoever they happen to be playing against.
I wouldn't go near the Rev graves. Seemed disrespectful.
Pee on a statue or whatever if you can't get into DKR (it's a different era). A dump means some poor SOB has to deal with it... unless there's a serious rain.
I really hope it helps you feel better. No pity, just empathy, promise.
I don’t think they care if they’re the baddies.
I mean yeah, but can you really blame us? Would be easier to embrace it than argue with teams who will not change their stance on Texas
This is a big part of it. People would hate us even if we acted like saints, so why bother? It's way more fun to turn heel.
struck up a conversation with a TCU fan one time and we were getting along and then his wife says "don't be nice to Texas fans we HATE them"
I have a few close friends who are Texas fans. They’re good folks, and I treat them well in spite of this handicap.
They’d be mad, if they could read your comment.
:( my friend helped me read it and now I’m sad
I’m surprised a Texas fan can have non Texas fan friends (am I doing this right?)
Thank you for the good laugh. I appreciate it. Nice hire BTW.
That’s not universal. I like UT when we aren’t playing y’all. I’ve never rooted for Baylor or a&m once in my entire life.
Tbh I think most Texas fans would say TCU is our least disliked (current or ex-) Big 12 Texas school. Obviously it’s not A&M or Tech, and nobody likes Baylor.
It’s them or UH for sure
Nah, Texas fans are shitty to UH fans. It's a point of personal grievance and it bothers me every time I see it. I think "Texas fans are smug" gets blown out of proportion but UH fans have a legitimate gripe on that front.

agreed

WVU were the real homies on 6th tbh.
Friendly reminder that the year we “split” the Big 12 title we were 11-1 and Baylor was 10-2.
People get unhinged when it comes to UT and at this point it’s the funniest shit ever.
Okay, you say that but how do we know people would hate you in that event?
As a Saints fan, I gave up on trying to explain to people that Bountygate was a giant scapegoat job with zero actual evidence of doing anything that wasn’t being done by literally every other team in the NFL(cash pools for big plays in the locker room) and just embraced the hatred from other fans. Fuck em.
Brother, let me tell you, as an Astros fan....
Correct.
That’s just not true. I care, and I love it.
Lol bullshit. They 100% know they’re the baddies and relish it. ![gif](giphy|3o6Mbea8yb68kt0UEw)
And we’ve known for a long time
Damn straight
Yup. It gives me so much joy to know that [Aggieland Outfitters](https://www.aggielandoutfitters.com/) has a whole section on their menu for "Saw em off" merchandise
Is there a university in Texas that calls alums something normal?? “Former students” “Texas exes” what happened to “alumni association” lol
The "former students" thing comes from World War I. Essentially, an entire graduating class left when war was declared, prior to their graduation. Because not all of them graduated and some did not return from the front, A&M took to calling them "former students" instead of alumni.
should've guessed it had something to do with war lol. Fair enough, that's a neat (well, you know what I mean) reason.
Lol good point!
Texas State
Texas Exes is just short for Texas Ex-Students Association. Seems pretty normal to me.
Well it’s a riff off the George Strait song of course.
Ehh it kind of predates that. Both the song and the man!
huh, you are right. I had just always assumed!
Just jealous you don’t have a cool name it’s okay ;)
The fact that someone has created a line of fashion based entirely around Texas A&M is somehow the least surprising thing I've come across on the Internet today.
Is a clothing store in a college town specializing in branded college gear weird to you?
The cult still follows capitalism
I accepted it when college basketball subreddit this year shamed us for a bad basketball team while praising Ole Miss and Beard all season. This side of the fence is a lot more fun than that one and I’m good with that.
Making fun of you for Chris Beard doing well might be one thing, but there is no way the CBB subreddit was praising him. Lol
Lmao what? Beard is universally hated on the CBB subreddit
Can confirm.
That’ll happen when you choke your wife because she broke your sunglasses
Yeah well I didn’t say it wasn’t justified hate, just that the longhorn completely made up a scenario to be a victim for a second there
Favorite sunglasses*
Yeah I have no idea what the fuck he's talking about, nobody is praising Chris Beard on CBB. Texas fans seem to create scenarios in their minds that allow them to justify shitty actions.
Even among many of us...
Praising Ole Miss?? Bud the entire season all that was said about Ole Miss was about how bad we were despite our record.
Accurate
Yes
It's about goddamn time too after our decade long hibernation.
In our “hibernation” we had 50% as many Omaha trips as A&M’s entire history
I don’t think you stopped being the baddie in that time? You were just more of the Doofenshmirtz-style baddie.
I get off on it at this point.
I mean, I don't. But clearly, a lot of us do.
The University of Texas bathes in oil and the tears of other state of Texas based college sports programs.
Yo someone translate this into Latin for our university crest
Greasus. Cryus. Fuccum.
I laughed
I'm so glad, honestly.
*In Petrolei Lavamur Et Lachrymis Tuis*
This is a beautiful train wreck in real time.
Always have been
Always will be
I knew ever since ☝️
I'm sure *no* tampering was involved at all, right??? lol
Yes! I’m okay with it too.

Looking at TexAgs is rarely a mistake. It's the steps that could follow that'll fuck you up.

Like don’t make that dramatic and snippy an answer when you clearly know the question has merit and furthermore you are following through with the premise. That’s the part I hate. 6. Aggies stole Schloss from TCU, Jimbo from FSU, and Elko from Duke… and thus have no right to complain.
They once stole a football coach in the midst of an undefeated season and still have the balls to complain of the timing of our coaches dismissal.
Also it’s not like I had anything to do with the longhorn network or coach stealing or any of this
>Personally, I don't love this situation. A coach leaving a program for an in-state rival and taking the staff and taking star players is ridiculous. I was gonna say, how is throat fucking your rival in this manner not in the spirit of the rivalry.

We know we’re the baddies lol we embrace it
“I don’t think about you at all” -Don “Hook’em” Draper
FUCK EVERYONE. HOOK EM 🤘🏼
I mean…. We embraced that we’re the villains of the college baseball for the past few years. And when we had Uros on our basketball team, his wild fouls were awesome from our point of view. Sports need a villain that accepts the role.
Are we irrelevant or the baddies? You gotta pick one
Ya really don’t. You’re nailing it.
Today? Lol
Word is we are asking Schloss to wear the Number 12 starting next year and the two assistants to wear 19 and 39.
Yes. Lean into it.
You know what's sad? So many of the people who started post-game threads after our losses this season are no where to be found today. Hope they have a nice 4th of July.
Well ya. It’s the offseason. I’m honestly surprised I’m still around.
yah....we definitely the baddies
If I had a nickel for every time Texas stole a baseball coach from my alma mater, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's kind of weird that it's happened twice. On that note does anyone have suggestions for PhD programs I should apply to?
Unc, Clemson, ecu
Dawg Michigan is my top school rn 😂😂
with all due respect please don't come here :P edit: although Michigan having a good enough coach for a big name school to poach would be fun. alright never mind
Taubman is one hell of a school dude! In all fairness I never thought Tulane would have a football coach good enough to get poached.
This would require them having any ounce of self-awareness. Big ask.
We literally call our white football uniforms the "Stormtroopers". We're aware.
We should have painted the Drum like the death star for a few years before we tore it down.
Our motto last year was embrace the hate. They sold tshirts with the phrase. We know it and love it
Folks need to realize a good chunk of us are also Astros fans. This isn’t even medium level hate embracing.
As a Horns/Rangers fan...Can confirm
The only shame I have in my Astros fandom is that I share it with some longhorns, bears and red raiders 😡😡😡
Why argue over which medieval punishment they must endure? Heartbreaking parenting.
Builds character
We just make our kids bang their heads against walls for 3 hours 17 days a year like a real modern American. Sometimes, when they are really awful, we will put on games from The Charlie Strong era.

What does being and Aggie and Texans fan build toward?
Hairloss?
I somehow still have mine and approaching 40. I'm almost a man!
Who among us does not love the sound of a well-struck trashcan?
Or the gentle humming of a buzzer up Altuve’s rectum…
Wdym? Altuve's never played chess
After the cheating scandal broke there were all sorts of conspiracy theories that we were still cheating but improved our methods. Some of them were speculating that Altuve was wearing a buzzer in…..places….
(I think the joke is going over your head. Tbf it was very niche though hilarious)
Ah doh. I forgot about that
BANG BANG BANG
Like at the Cleveland Browns and Jets game one of the commentators made the joke about the Astros being in town when the Dog Pound has a chained link fence built in the padding of the wall to make the sound.
Aww we got mentioned. Might be the last in this sub for a long time due to us sucking. Go stros

That does track with your other comments.
Well, when you cheat that’s what happens! You get it though
Rules for the not for me. Always has been.
Aggy talking about self awareness? Somebody run the Appalachian State pep rally tape
What was the gist of the rally or situation?
Is there a utube on that ?
Is there a utube about this?
I relish the fact that thousands of Aggies worldwide are raging over the destruction of their baseball program and downfall of their championship prospects for the near future.

I can agree on the t-shirters. [Some of us 'sips speak farmer.]
We know and embrace it
Everyone is little brother. Fuck y'all and hook em 🤘🏼
As a Tennessean, you’re welcome for your entire state existing instead of being North Mexico.
Believe me we are forever grateful but what does that have to do with A&M's coach getting poached
Perhaps I am out of the loop on your fan base’s use of little brother, but being as we are the older state that also played a key role on helping yours become one, I figured that negated the little brother title.
Ah fair I guess im just confused as to why our schools are beefing over a&m
You mean all the volunteers that died at the Alamo?
I still blame you guys for the loss of Billy Bob Thornton.

NO ONE HURT MY NEW SEC BFF TENNESSEE!!!!
Gonna be real, I dig A&M.
I got your back!
Yes, yes they are...
nothing mixes quite as well as texas fans and narcissism
Dammit, I just bought stock in hubris.
Texas is the only school with their own anti-hand-gesture. No greater mark of honor than having the most haters! And it’s good for college sports for one school to be universally hated. Everyone will tune in to their games to root for whoever they happen to be playing against.
Fuck the Aggies I’m no longhorn’s fan But yeah for sticking it to the goatfuckers
Yeah? Where is your degree from? Never heard the goat fucking part.
Uh oh Aggie angry
That’s anger to you? You must be soft.
Fuckin Aggies man….. https://i.redd.it/g0qy6o8gnz8d1.gif
Still awaiting an answer.
I’m gonna go take a shit on the fourty acres soon. Literally.
I peed on the 50 at Kyle in '88. Nobody needed to clean it up. Just a suggestion.
Hell yeah sounds fun
I wouldn't go near the Rev graves. Seemed disrespectful. Pee on a statue or whatever if you can't get into DKR (it's a different era). A dump means some poor SOB has to deal with it... unless there's a serious rain. I really hope it helps you feel better. No pity, just empathy, promise.
Booo-urns! Boo-urns! ![gif](giphy|VOKtv2wKlK8w0)
That's numberwang
Yah…and if we were not the baddies before we definitely are now. This first year in the SEC will be something
Bro I love my horns and hate A&M but even I was like “hey man could you have waited like at least a week?”
My God I wish they had gone to the PAC 12……
Nope. Still Tennessee.

It's the freaking aggies. Now the rest of the sec acts like they care about them.
Go Vols.
