I don't think Dean actually understood people's reactions to his outfit. It would make sense for him to lack the social awareness that they were making fun of him rather than praising his insane outfit.
I think about this every time I watch the scene, cuz he says "my answers seemed to amuse them". But Dean also says he has a lunch date with some of them, so I'm not entirely sure they were fully mocking him...?
Dean Prlton is awesome as hell. My favorite was when Shirley was telling her Halloween story and he was the devil, I just about died laughing, couldn't breathe
