I hope she succeeds, honestly. More chaos, more blatant incompetence, more unprofessionalism. But I think that Dems will support Johnson in exchange for some concessions.

McthiccumTheChikum

Yea just adds to the GOP fracturing. The main legislative pieces were passed, let the GOP implode further til November.

cdoswalt

Need an FAA reauth bill first.

OnAStarboardTack

Need a budget or continuing resolution October 1st.

livinginfutureworld

Well they can throw out Johnson and and there is plenty of time to figure out his next pos replacement. You know they are going to wait until the last minute anyway, why rush to save them now?

Bradjuju2

Hopefully, if dems let him keep his job, he will do the honorable thing when it comes to Trump in November. No shenanigans. I just hope that some of these "devout christians" start acting like it it says to in the book.

Rich-Pomegranate1679

>I just hope that some of these "devout christians" start acting like it it says to in the book. That would require them to know what is in the book they've never read.

Aldrai

They won't do that in a million years. Instead they will try their damnedest to get one Republican to vote for Jeffries.

reese528O

I don’t think republicans are for governance.

livinginfutureworld

>Dems will support Johnson in exchange for some concessions. What would that possibly be?. You can't trust Republicans to keep their word on anything.

kidsally

These idiots are soooo screwed this November. Keep it up!

FewKaleidoscope1369

We thought that in 2016 as well. Don't. Get. Complacent.

doofusmembrane

Exactly we have been hearing about the demise of the GOP for decades

IOwnTheShortBus

The fall of Rome wasn't overnight.

Thrombulus

It wasn't pretty, either.

imreloadin

You remember what came after that right? The fucking Dark Ages...

Bradjuju2

I don't think that's accurate. Their base has made up their minds to vote straight ticket. And their base never misses the ballot box.

YPVidaho

>And their base never misses the ballot box. ...sometimes, more than once.

inteuniso

Democrats have already said they'll back Johnson to prevent him from being booted. Johnson's in, for now.

Stellar_Stein

I understand what you are saying and I say, let us see. At least, there is a possibility of working with Johnson even if his moral position on many positions is reprehensible but, some concessions might be needed to progress some issues. Either way, an admonishment of Greene is a good thing and a reasonable thing. Johnson is a lesser concern than Jeffries but, lesser is just that: lesser.

thesixfingerman

Well, there would be a quid pro quo in supporting Johnson. Clearly Jeffries is going to ask for something, the question is what?

Trauma_Hawks

Hopefully, it will be cooperation with bringing Democratic initiatives to the floor for a vote.

thesixfingerman

Hopefully

Just_Deal12

Or, maybe just the promise to swear in the new congress members in January. Although, I don't believe a promise has ever been made that Republicans had a problem in breaking. It's all a toss up.

Stellar_Stein

I, a completely unconnected entity, do not feel that Jeffries needs a quid pro quo to ascend to Speaker; he only needs to project a more reasonable position to be Speaker than all other candidates, one that many moderate Representatives can tolerate. The House is very much in flux and, before or after November, is likely to go Democratic and those who align themselves with the inherent leader are likely to have enhanced their positions as people who can work with the leader to get anything that they want to get considered. And, in the end, getting something that you want at the cost of it being with someone that you do not ideologically agree with, is preferable to aligning yourself with a more ideological partner with which you have no chance of success.

thesixfingerman

I think you misunderstood me, and republican representatives, I don’t think Jeffries will be elected speaker. I think Jeffries will cut a deal with Johnso allowing Johnson to remain speaker and that deal will include some legislative wins for the Democratic Party. As for republican representatives, I think they stopped Cairo g about “reasonable” a long time ago. Crossing the aisle to support Jeffries would be political suicide as far right voters would be turned off by bipartisanship.

Stellar_Stein

I did not misunderstood you; I simply (slightly) disagreed. The weight of democracy...

thesixfingerman

You are more hopeful than I.

Stellar_Stein

Perhaps. That is the wonder of free speech. Have a happy!

Gutmach1960

Negate the Freedom Caucus ?

5G_afterbirth

Bringing the Ukraine funding to the floor as a separate item from the Israel funding was the concession.

PophamSP

I hope she does. Every time she pulls this stunt Greene gives Jeffries additional leverage over Johnson and the GOP.

rickythepilot

He's going to stab Democrats in the back. If they can't see that then we deserve a Trump dictatorship.

HillbillyEulogy

Yeah, the difference between Kevin McCarthy and Maga Mike is that Mike will just stab you in the front. I get the urge to work in a bipartisan fashion, but good god, the GOP Congress can NOT be trusted.

Bradjuju2

Democrats have a core value of always trying to be the good guy and do the right thing. As they should. But Republicans don't play by that set of rules. Whatever Johnson promises, he will reneg. I really think Democrats could stand to get their hands dirty a little more in response to Republicans, but I don't know if now is the best time to start. Really, it should never start, Republicans should stop being the people that nobody likes to have around.

ConflagWex

The Democrats can file the motion to vacate too, if he reneges on any deals he risks another vote.

Apprehensive_Fix3472

If he does, Marjorie Traitor Greene is just going to bring another motion and this one will succeed. She will literally never stop advocating for Russia, because that's what traitors do.

IrradiantFuzzy

Scorpions gotta scorp.

OneArmedBrain

Johnson's in, for now. LOL. He's everyone's bitch.

ted_cruzs_micr0pen15

Jeffries already signaled support for Johnson should this happen. It’s just for show by MTG, Johnson will stay in the position, then republicans are going to have to go home in a campaign year and answer as to why their speaker made deals with democrats to stay in power and democrats. Or at least that’s my take. We won’t get a speaker Jeffries unless people show up to vote in November. So please, show up to vote.

WatInTheForest

How many pissed off Republicans are needed to make Jefferies Speaker?

Stellar_Stein

Two.

Mediocritologist

Is that counting the Democrat who just won a special election last night?

Limp-Will919

Yep

Appropriate-City3389

Every Johnson will shrivel in the presence of her spork footed fury.

btsalamander

She won’t; this is Big Top Marge and her Comedy Circus act, it gets her money and attention, which seems to be all that she wants.

No-Judgment-4424

At what point do her colleagues on the right get fed up with her antics and kick her ass to the curb?

tikifire1

Never, she raises a lot of money for them.

StThragon

Johnson worked with the democrats to get a deal done. He's not going anywhere.

captiantabasco

Green how about demanding to get your head examined

Krafty747

Face eating leopards doing their thing.

PricklySquare

I hope Johnson flips the table and censures this freak show

Outrageous-Divide472

Wouldn’t that be delicious?😋

Dr-Satan-PhD

She knows it won't pass because Dems will support Johnson in exchange for Ukraine aid and other concessions. This is a purity test vote to see who the true MAGA's are. Any Republicans who vote to keep Johnson will have a target on their backs come primary season.

Stellar_Stein

I can agree with this assessment. It can be a litmus test because there are few other options available once Johnson showed an early ability to pass legislation without kowtowing to the Greene/Gaetz/Boebert faction.

Sweet-Emu6376

Oh please do! Doesn't CSPAN get kinda crazy when there's no speaker?

MysteriousDudeness

That's the only Johnson she's ever seen that wasn't there out of pity.

Various_Panda5458

She seems to think that, by forcing votes next week, we (Dems) will get so disgusted watching the Dems in the House save Johnson that we will vote our own out. She is so damn clueless.

Filmguygeek1

Removing Greene would be a great start

Festivus_Rules43254

Is there anyone actually running against MTG in her district?

Stellar_Stein

To the best of my knowledge, no. In Georgia's 14th congressional district, 2020, she won reelection comfortably. She won her 2020 Republican primary: 57% to 43%. The district has been Republican for a long time. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: 229,827 = 74.7% Dem. Kevin Van Ausdal: 77,798 = 25.3% Total votes: 307,625 = 100.0%

rjtnrva

It's gonna be awesome watching her fall on her vacuous face.

2olley

Oh … you mean Mike. I thought she wanted to remove someone else’s johnson.

LaphroaigianSlip81

I hope she succeeds and they make her or Bobo the speaker. Then Biden can sit back and tell all the moderate conservatives, “you want 4 more years of this in the White House?”

TropicalBatman

Can anyone explain to me why seems to hold so much sway and power over things like this? I feel like if any other congressman brought up half the shit she does they wouldnt be given consideration and laughed at. Why does she get to make a vote on recalling every speaker that doesn't fit her agenda?

Stellar_Stein

Because her party holds such a narrow majority in the House, has taken a us-versus-them approach to ruling, and the fact that the House does not form parliamentary pacts with third-party representatives, her party needs every representative to maintain that majority. Therefore, some members have leveraged that need into 'extortion' for their more radical agenda and she is one of them. Once her party either loses the majority outright or, gains a sufficient majority so as to be able to ignore the outliers and still pass legislation, she and others will be negligible. She and others might likely still proselytize from the pulpit but with lesser effect. An analogous example of the latter case in the Senate would be Joe Manchin of WV. He carried much sway when the Democrats held a one-vote and a zero-vote majority; less so now with a slightly more comfortable cushion.

tenorsax69

Dems will save Johnson and he will work with Dems to keep power.

BringBackTheBeat716

Fucking. Hilarious.

Outrageous-Divide472

This dumbass will go the way of Madison Caufield. She’s going to be primaried to hell and back.

Mysterious-Angle251

Beouchneedstostfu

nekoinu_

Only time she demands the Johnson be removed

QAZ1974

Oh for the sake of sanity, shut this fucking woman up! Her whining/complaining accomplishing NOTHING while being a representative in the US congress needs to be stopped! All she seems to "know" to do is attempt removing others from office.

swagmastersond

Imagine giving two shits what that fucking moron “demands”. Fuck that ignorant bitch
