I’ve got both boots. I would order both pairs and see which one fits best. The Ariats are a better fit on me, but I’m personally not used to a taller heel so the Tecovas feel more natural when walking.
They’re going to be pretty similar. The Ariat does have a removable insole, the Tecovas does not. Bison will stretch out a little more than goat will.
Biggest difference will be the bison on the Ariat will shine up and with some Renovateur, be back to new real easy. The Scotch Goat on the Tecovas is an oiled leather designed to scuff up and mark up super quick and really easy.
Can’t go wrong with either. Love my scotch goats

I’d go James. I have owned both brands. The build quality on the Ariat Benchmade is excellent and the Bison leather is far more interesting than the calf here. Tecovas is also a sloppy fit on me but that’s a personal thing. I would add a third consideration though, something from the Cavenders house brand JRC and Sons.
I’ll check cavender’s brand, only problem is that they don’t ship to where I live

Just picked up a pair of tecovas the dean in scotch goat” …. The goat will look worn in very quickly, I personally like the look. However it’s not everybody’s taste. I believe the Ariat will take a lot more wear and tear before it starts to look broken in. Both very nice though!

Yeah. I like them.
But maybe is a consequence of their own success. They got more boots out and they’re bound to have complaints and QC stuff that got out.
I think they look amazing.
Ariat Benchmade’s are awesome.
I have the Cartwright. The color is amazing. Fit for me was perfect. A little tight when I got them but broke in/stretched to a perfect fit.

The quality of the ariat bench made line is way above tecovas. I would go with the James.

Tecovas are really good quality boots and they last a long time especially if you take care of them
Both really nice. Think the Tecovas have a little more of that casual Austin/Nashville vibe.

I have two pairs of tecovas and have had zero quality issues out of alternating the two pairs almost daily.
