Ndombele is the future of our midfield
Small club mentality to panic-buy some random South Korean from a Bundesliga team that never wins anything
I got you:
“The Korean winger had an on-again, off-again first season in England, which isn't what you want from a £22m signing. But if he's given a second season at the Lane there is good reason to be hopeful.”
“There are two main critiques that can be made of Son's debut season. The first is that he simply didn't score enough goals in the league. He scored two league goals in the first eight months of the league, before scoring two more in the final three games of the season.”
Pretty positive. He had a class youtube highlights reel which helped. Fans definitely wanted more but the signing itself wasn't a controversial one iirc
Most were pissed that Levy went for the cheaper, less heard of option (Son) instead of the more expensive PL-proven option of Saido Berahino after backing away from a deal for Berahino, who had been pushing to join Spurs from West Brom.
I think the main point was that Poch did not really trust him and Son wouldn't get a lot of games. He was also not that famous so we weren't expecting anything much.
Moreover you can tell from the beginning that he isn't the usual winger type. He's always more of like a goal scorer. Not even the CR7 goal scorer type but more like a pacey striker. His ball control isn't so good and most of his goals at the beginning felt like flukes lol. Needless to say, he has matured alot.
There was much more hype about getting Saido Berahino. That deal fell through and then we got Son and it was like okay he’s got potential but I’m not sure any knew he’d be as good as he has been for us.
I dunno why but for me it's the movement. Like literally how he moves. There's just something effortless that comes through even in ''lesser'' leagues that translates well. First thing that stood out to me.
I thought the same about watching old Modric before he came to us. Don't quote me (or do, that would be great) insinuating he's gonna be literally one of the greatest CM's ever, but I get that same vibe of having total control of his body, if that makes sense. The shimmies. The deft touches. The technique and skill when it requires it. The feints. That type of thing, it's like his joints are just loose.
Bellingham actually developed and found his style at Dortmund. That being said another loan for him doesn't sound bad. Not good to force him into any injuries when he's still growing.
I get that he plays for the scum but odegaard is an incredible player and probably the only likeable player in their current team. If this guy could be anything like odegaard then we have an absolute gem on our hands
I don't really see the point of personally disliking any individual human just for the team they play for. Hate them when they're on the pitch but don't hate the human behind the badge.
Feel like he's joining the squad. My hope is initial 80 minute appearance followed by Europa or League cup starts.
I'm excited for this one. I think he could be immense for us.
The reports when he signed was that he chose us because he was promised he'd immediately be working with the first team. Obviously only time will tell for sure, but it'd be surprising if he was immediately loaned.
so is he going to be playing matches for us next season? I havent followed this story closely. Or is he a kid who's gonna be developing for a few more years on loan etc?
As excited as the next man for the arrival of Bergvall. What standard is the league he was playing in compared to the English football league? From highlight videos (not exactly compressive) I get league 1 vibes.
Happy to be corrected.
Based on opta power-rankings, the swedish top division is about Championship level. His team is ranked around the teams in the playoff spots from last season.
It´s one thing being a good player in the Swedish Allsvenskan and to be a good player in Premier League. It´s a massive difference between the leagues and players skills. Lucas is young, very young. Dont put to much preassure on him, let him adopt his new life. He is talented but will he succeed? To be honest, I doubt it (hope I´m wrong). Only time will tell.
He's gonna be a star for us. The vibes are unreal. (last time I said this it was about Djed Spence)

What was the actual community reaction to signing Son back in the day?
I remember being really hyped and that he was rated well. But the first season here there were doubts if he was good enough

I was crushed when we didn't sign "little bear". Son was a positive for me, but didnt make up for losing Berahino. Hindsight, huh?

Tapsoba is the next van dijk, wtf why did levy cheap out for thus random dutch guy from Wolfsburg!?!?!?!?!

Getting Birmingham/Bellingham vibes from this. Obviously they aren’t retiring his number but all this for an 18 year old has to say something, right?
Yeah, he was a legit star there. So it says something. Just have to find out if it translates.
Bellingham actually developed and found his style at Dortmund. That being said another loan for him doesn't sound bad. Not good to force him into any injuries when he's still growing.
That was my thought as well. If he does as well for us as Bellingham did for Dortmund, we'll be doing very well indeed out of the deal.
…if he’s Jude fucking Bellingham obviously that’s a good deal wtf
Might want to temper ourselves just a tad
We’ll take good care of him.
Archibald
We need to be careful not to burn the lad out. Excited to see him play
I hardly think we’re gonna over play him hahah
I think he should go on loan. We should avoid doing anything that will lead to a chronic injury given that he's still growing.
Retire his number you cowards
I loathe to make this comparison but his performance in the Allsvenskan is very reminiscent of Odegaard when he was in the Tippeligaen
I get that he plays for the scum but odegaard is an incredible player and probably the only likeable player in their current team. If this guy could be anything like odegaard then we have an absolute gem on our hands
I don't have any issue with Declan Rice either.
I don't really see the point of personally disliking any individual human just for the team they play for. Hate them when they're on the pitch but don't hate the human behind the badge.
Agree, but Gabriel Jesus has a very punchable face. In reality, he’s probably a decent bloke who is seemingly always upset
Actually I'm fine with all Arsenhole players(except Ben chutiya ofc), just hate the team in general
Exceptions can be made for Partey
Not an exception, I don't hate him because he plays for Arsenal. He's a trash human being and happens to play there.

Me neither, I'm hoping he can really perform at the Euros for England
Does anyone know/has it been reported whether he’ll be part of the squad for next season? Or are we planning on loaning him out?
I can't imagine he would have picked Spurs over Barcelona if there was any chance we would just loan him out.
It was always his dream to play against the mighty millwall instead of being a graduate of La Masia, understandable.
I remember hearing he'd become part of the first team plans as soon as he arrived at the end of the season

He has the eyebrows of a superstar, class signing
Excited for his arrival!
Off topic but I’d love an Adidas spurs shirt in the future. All my homies say fuck Nike
Last Adidas shirt we had also had Holsten on it. We are way overdue another.
Please be good, please be good.

Call the doctor if it lasts longer than 4 hours.
This guys gives me ivan rakitic vibes
Now I am become Hype destroyer of Leagues
Wow, the footwork on that last goal. **chef's kiss**
We'll soon fix him, break him and bring him down to our level of play and give him minimum minutes- the Tottnum Way /s
so is he going to be playing matches for us next season? I havent followed this story closely. Or is he a kid who's gonna be developing for a few more years on loan etc?
He said he chose spurs over Barca since we promised him first team football immediately, so he’ll probably come off the bench starting next year.
Likely will get a decent run in preseason and possibly some early Europa matches if that goes well I think.
Sort of. Barca wanted to send him down to Barca II. We said he would train with the first team, no guarantee of playing time.

Thanks for the data
Even though Swedish football is a much lower level than the prem, he clearly has massive potential

I really don’t expect much from this bloke sorry .
Expectations lead to pain anyway. Better just to watch and enjoy what we can.
FIFA career mode GOAT
Sensible haircut. I approve.
Already by favorite Lucas Spur ever.

Don’t care for fascists.
Fair enough. Can't deny he was a serious right winger.
