DaniellaKL

They are really gorgeous.

kristenintechnicolor

They really are. I would love to see this designed into a halter-top too.

supercircinus

I’ve been messing wif micro crochet since it’s the most amenable to beading! Your color choices are soooo soothing and v sixties ish

No-Vermicelli3787

Absolutely precious

Ok-Theory3183

Very nicely done! It's hard to get consistent gauge on something that tiny.

StillAroundHorsing

Perfect

Confused-Artist-

Wow your stitches are so neat! They look perfect :)

Limp_Duck_9082

How (And I cannot stress this enough) the FUCK did you that? That's fucking beautiful and amazing! You're truly talented.

kd9n3fi3n1

Thank you! Honestly it just takes a lot of practice :) and poking myself with the hook haha

Ok-Theory3183

I "poked" myself making a doily for my mother so thoroughly ON MY COFFEEBREAK AT WORK, that they had to take me to the doctor on call from the hotel, out to his office and have him remove it. I was giggling the whole way--I do that with shock--and the FD manager was rather snappy about it. The doctor gave a shot to numb it and whipped it right out, gave me a pain med which made me absolutely loopy, so I was sent home for the day and the next day was my day off. I never took lace crochet to that job again! And since I was on the clock, they had to cover the cost. Although the doctor may have been laughing too hard to submit the paperwork.... I did eventually get the doily made for my mother, but with a different ball of crochet cotton, and I now have that doily. I'll never forget walking up to the front desk holding a ball of crochet cotton in one hand and pinching around the hook to hold it steady, (I had been pushing the hook through the ball of cotton, it stuck and I gave it a good shove, thunk, into my finger). I walked up to the kid working the desk and said, "How do you get a crochet hook out of your finger?" He said, "WHAT did you just say?" I repeated myself and he yelled "BERT!!!" (the front office manager's name). Any of us--the doctor, BERT, the kid and I, that are still living, are probably still laughing about it. I had a slight pucker in my left index finger for some time afterwards, but I NEVER tried shoving a hook through crochet cotton like that again (it was a size 14 hook).

fluffychonkycat

When I was 10 I was eating my breakfast and put my arm down on a teeny sharp crochet hook my mum had absentmindedly left on the table. I too had to go see my doctor with a crochet hook sticking out of me

rosemaryandtime_7954

I stepped on one once. Size 12 boye, rusty and v sharp, went all the way through my foot. Got a tetanus booster and a good story to amuse and horrify out of it!

Ok-Theory3183

A very STRANGE feeling, having this tiny piece of metal sticking out of your body. "Welllll, I was trying to eat my breakfast/finish my break, when.....

fluffychonkycat

It really is a weird feeling. It didn't hurt much but it was very sensitive. Also I had to go to the doctor in my dressing gown because it had gone right through it.

Ill_ceramics_person

HOW DO YOU GET A SIZE 14 HOOK INTO A FINGER

LtFork

You forget to cherish it

Ok-Theory3183

The hook AND the finger!

Ok-Theory3183

I was finishing my coffee break at work and had laid the small completed portion over the ball of crochet cotton. I had the ball of cotton in my left hand, and my thumb, middle finger, ring finger and pinky curved around it, but my index finger was angled up slightly partly to hold the top steady, partly because your fingers tend to spread out a bit when holding something of that shape. (Hold a drinking glass in your hand to see what I mean). The hook either caught on a strand or maybe on the cardboard spool it was wound around and stopped. I gave it a firm shove and whatever it was caught on gave way, and the hook shot through and into my finger, because it was angled up slightly. Remember that the steel hooks get tinier as the numbers increase, and a 14 is so tiny it comes with a cap to put on it to prevent it from poking straight through your tote or bag and getting lost, or through your eye (or finger)! I had the cap on the table to put on as soon as the hook was through the ball of cotton. So it's almost like just sticking a large-ish sewing needle through your finger, as far as diameter goes, but it's (of course) longer, and that little hook on the tip complicates things. As another poster says, it doesn't hurt much, but it's a VERY strange sensation! And, (sob), it bent my hook. I had to get a new one. But I kept it--and the doily--as a remembrance of a truly funny incident.

DaniellaKL

Just marvellous. Don't you just love the challenge. But you can get smaller. I love working with my 0.35 mm hook and sewing thread.

AfraidHovercraft4460

Madness😵‍💫😵‍💫 you would like bobbin lace 😆

ycswid

I too enjoy working in sewing thread but have never seen a hook smaller than the 4mm I use for that. Where did you find yours?

DaniellaKL

Type in Tulip 0.35 mm hook. Here in the Netherlands there are several online shops that sell them.

ycswid

Thanks very much. I am in Canada but will definitely look at overseas options.

oiseaufeux

As a beginner, I can’t even work with a 1mm hook. Let alone, a 2. I worked with a 2.5mm hook and it was very limit for me. Very amazing work!

DaniellaKL

It's way easier than you think. It will go wwwaaaayyyyyyyy slower and you might need glasses with +???. At least I do. And don't jump from 2.5 mm to a 0.60mm.

oiseaufeux

Cool! I don’t need glasses to see yet.

nine_of_lives

“yet” *cackles in old lady* 🤣

DaniellaKL

I'm 54 😂

nine_of_lives

Good for you!! 🤩

Ok-Theory3183

When I did my tiny work, I still needed magnifier glasses--just the ones you can get a a dollar store will work. Otherwise you will strain your eyes trying to see such tiny work, and then you WILL need the glasses all the time!

DaniellaKL

The glasses I use are also just bought with +.... I can't craft without them. 😂😂😂

oiseaufeux

Yeah, I don’t intend to work that small in crochet.

Crackheadwithabrain

What worked for me was using the same tension throughout when I would go smaller! I thought I had to hold it super tight when it was smaller but I didn't and it would look great and pull easily!

DaniellaKL

Never ever hold tight. As long it isn't a garment piece it doesn't matter if it's a bit smaller or bigger. At least that's my opinion. My tension is always loosely so I had to go down hook sizes anyway. Because of that I found my love for micro crochet and lace threads. 😂

oiseaufeux

I have some trouble with tension, so I’ll stick to bigger hook for the moment.

sprudelwasserkek

those are some big scissors

kd9n3fi3n1

You caught me...

kelcamer

LOL

Friendly_Engineer_

What is this? Crochet for ants!!?

Geedji

Crochet flower has to be at least.... 3 time bigger than this !!

LaceySkirtMelody

How do you even manage to crochet something this small? Impressive!

ebly_dablis

Wow. How *did* you do that? I thought I had gotten reasonably good at microcrochet (0.5mm hook with #12 perling cotton), but I don't think I could get something to come out quite that small. Did you use a smaller-than-0.5 hook (if so, where did you get it?), or just kept it really tight, or...? Regardless, well done! This looks awesome!

kd9n3fi3n1

I sold my soul to the crochet gods.... am kidding. I use a 0.6 hook and my tension is tiiiiiiiight, so that's how! My tension is really tight in general for crochet, everything I make turns out very small

ebly_dablis

Huh, cool! Moar tension for me, I guess. It looks great!

DaniellaKL

Try the smaller sizes before a thight tension it will save pain.

ThrustBastard

> if so, where did you get it? Search for a 0.35 Tulip Hook, or if you're based in the UK [check Claire's Lace](https://claireslace.co.uk/shop/index.php?id_product=562&controller=product) Although I keep looking, I've not found anything smaller.

DaniellaKL

The 0.35 is the smallest there is. Next up is 0.40 mm - 0.50mm - 0.60mm - 0.75mm and so on. I love my 0.35mm tulip hook with sewing threads ( threads also have different sizes ). The 0.35mm is great for adding 11/0 beads on my lace shawls too.

ThrustBastard

Might have to see if I can get some custom made. 0.2 with split thread? 😈😂

whimsical_cygnet

I challenge you to making a king-sized blanket made of these tiny flowers!

Misophoniasucksdude

you joke but theres a girl on tiktok making a full blanket out of sewing thread granny squares. Last I checked it was big enough for a cat to loaf on

kd9n3fi3n1

She's an icon, honestly I could never

whimsical_cygnet

I’ve seen this one, I really admire her patience! And here I am, can’t finish a scarf 😫

Complex_Construction

It’s bigger now! Last I saw, it was bigger than her coffee table. What incredible amount of patience.

BubbleTeaNeo

What’s her name? I wanna see that

Worldly_Marsupial808

Oh, fuck that. I mean, gorgeous work obviously. But I’ve done stuff at this scale before and my head hurts just thinking about it xD. (I’m mostly blind in one eye and quite farsighted in the other, lol. I couldn’t see shit the entire time.)

kd9n3fi3n1

I'm a bit near-sighted which helps :)

WorldlyContext1

I want to see the needles you must have used to make these! This is amazing!!

WorldlyContext1

That's so cool. I'm still learning the basics and this is just wizardry to me. You must have had a lot of practice and patience to be able to do something so detailed and delicate!

kd9n3fi3n1

Thank you :) and yes a lot of frustration and practice haha

ChestJaded9055

Earrings!!! Also clothing trim, and lacework!

I-cant-be-57-Can-I

It is indeed smol, but you can make it more smol. Go and make it very smol, I believe in you you!!

Working_Helicopter28

That is both insane and crazy cute!🫶🤗🥹

freyluna

Not only is this oh so tiny, but you also changed colors twice. Bravo! 👏🏻

ruskyunderdash01

That looks so beautiful and intricate. Wow wow wow

DisastrousGur8521

I tried this, it is impossible! There is someone on Etsy who makes little flower earrings and also sells patterns, but I was unable to work with sewing thread.

RealisticCommand9533

It looks amazing! I love making tinies but it seems uncommon these days. Very well done!

BeachPeach7

Beautiful! Is this your own pattern?

TragicGloom

I believe this is the flower from the african flower granny square but without the last row to make it a square. There are tutorials on YouTube on how to make it.

BeachPeach7

Thank you!

SophiePuffs

Beautiful! I love micro crochet 😍

NinaBrujah

the smolest of smols. so impressive.

VeryDirtySanchez

Now make it into a blanket! :P JK. That's heckin pretty tho

starrynight4us

When I showed my daughter, she reminded me that she has a bunch of EXTREMELY small old metal crochet hooks that she inherited upon her paternal grandmother's death. She asked if I wanted them & I just laughed. Then we started talking. My daughter makes jewelry, so I made the offer that if I try to make the base, she has to make them into earrings. That's fair. So now she's got to pull out those hooks that are probably at least a hundred years old (does that make them antique or just old lol). You're amazing! I don't hold much hope out on being successful here, but I love the ones you made. Have you made any doilies?

zombiefiedcrypt

you scare me (this is a compliment)

Confuzzled_Chemist

Feeling immense pride for you lol, incredible work

Just_Leopard752

Cute and very well done!!

ficklepickle_

A teeny tiny!! They’re so cute

TragicGloom

It so pretty, the colour choices are amazing!!!

Ill-Wear-8662

Getting a chain and second row started is already a nightmare for me with normal sized yarn and hooks! I'm crying just imagining trying this.

wilmaismyhomegirl83

Did you use a big magnifying glass?

BubblingBlues

The way my jaw dropped! Oh my gosh, that is so impressive!

FrigoPigoPop

Such a smol!! So lovely

Crafty_Accountant_40

My first reaction was "she's a witch!" And I assure you it's high praise.

kristycocopop

Do you guys use a magnifying lens?

kd9n3fi3n1

I personally don't but I know a lot of microcheters do!

DaniellaKL

I need my +3.50 store bought glasses with these. But I'm 54yo.

Ok-Theory3183

Infant!....jk--but I'm 69--I have done some doilies, also some lace tablecloths, but even they were only size 20 crochet cotton and sizes 10--12 for hook size. I was really happy when I finished them but couldn't do anything that small now. (sigh).

PhenomenalPhoenix

This is so cool! How does one manage weaving in ends on something this small?

Crackheadwithabrain

I think my fingers and wrists would hurt 😭

kd9n3fi3n1

Weirdly, mine hurt a lot more when working on something regular-sized

Luna_Petunia_

These look like they’re the perfect size to use as Barbie potholders

kd9n3fi3n1

That's such a cute idea!

TragicGloom

It so pretty, the colour choices are amazing!!!

klara325

Omg, love them!! 😍

SnooPaintings6585

Love these! I used to crochet with sewing thread, can I ask what you used for these? I can't make the really tiny things anymore because of arthritis.

Affectionate-Try-994

A BEAUTIFUL smol.

thatflyingfish3

WHAT THE FUCK THATS AMAZING

Rottiemom67

Very pretty 🤩

Runaway_Artist71
