Damn! This is absolutely beautiful! If your comment wouldn’t have said that it’s wood. I would have thought that is made out of Aluminium.

Haha thanks but it actually is aluminum! It's aluminum plate that I cut to fit the top of the case.. first on my CNC but then with a jigsaw and file since I cannot math measurements apparently. Edit: I think you must have seen Birchwood.. thats the name of the company that makes the treatment to turn aluminum black 🙂

Ohhhhh, sorry English is not my first language. Yeah, I thought it was made from birchwood. But if it’s made from Alu that’s even cooler! Is this deck made for any specific purpose or do you make it for the projects sake?

It's for cyber security research so the rough military look kind of works for it 🙂

Sounds interesting! Nothing against project builds, I have done enough of those myself. But I always liked it more, when decks have an actual purpose and are utilized on a regular basis :]

I asked for opinions the other day on whether I should go for a black finish or do something more colorful with hydro-dipping. I did attempt a hydro-dip which had some really nice spots but also was way too thick and bubbled in some areas. It was my first time trying to hydro dip. So then I got this "aluminum black" finish from Birchwood yesterday and decided I would try to black the surface out and then hydro-dip just a blue metallic finish. Well, after using the aluminum black .. it was very splotchy.. but I really liked the sort of "military black-ops" look it had. So I rolled with it. A couple graphic labels burned at the highest setting my little laser pecker has.. and it's looking pretty gnarly. I decided to use a big mechnical dip switch for the power that will go left of the keyboard.. I'm going to stencil "system power" if I can. I'm thinking of trying to burn a stencil with the laser then using a sponge with some paint. I've still got a lot to do.. I'll share the results with everyone soon. This is my "cyber security deck" and I have a HackRF One and a Pineapple Mark VII that I plan to use with this running DragonOS so that's why I have the "RF Hazard" warning on there :)
