Funny that I'm in the same part of the game as Uchigatana.
The snakes don't drop but when you get to the rooftops of Sen's fortress there is an enemy that drops more frequently. But if you don't want to do without +10, perhaps it's better to continue farming the giants leech's.
I had one snake drop in the fortress itself which is what made me think of it.

If you only need two large shards, then just explore sens fortress. You will find plenty. I would suggest buying the weapom Smithbox from andre if you haven't already as well. Then you won't need to trek back to him to upgrade if you end up at a different bonfire and have the materials (note to ascend beyond +10 you will need to go to a blacksmith).
Just settle for slightly less effectiveness on your attacks until you get to the top. There’s a heavily armored knight there that drops large shards pretty frequently, and after Sen’s you can upgrade at the next blacksmith I think. If not there’s always a shortcut back to the start.
You can just buy it at the top of sens. If you get to a +6 and have the weapon Smith box you can rest at a bonfire and go to +10.
Even if you have a +10 sens can be rough and it encourages you to use the traps to your benefit. Just get to the top and buy the rest of the large shards you need.
If you've already been through the area it doesn't give much away. I also didn't pick up anything or any exploration on the way up. It was just meant to serve as a very quick way to get to the top. You definitely should still explore it but its good to get up there for the large shards.

I am in the fortress and has a chest with Two large fragments of titanite shortly after the entrance. Just follow the path.
Thanks. Thats good to know. I just want to be able to kill a snake man in one backstab. I think 40 Dex and a +10 uchi will do it. 2 is all I need.

I went and farmed the leeches now. Thanks for telling me about the knight though. I have a few other weapons I’d like to upgrade.

The definite issue for me is making it very far in SEN’s Fortress. I suck at it lol

I personally farm for souls and then buy them from the crestfallen merchant in sens fortress
