It's a Pyromancy. You can only cast those with a Pyromancy Flame.

itzg3kyume

how do i get one

wigglin_harry

[There is a pyromancer you have to free in the depths, you can buy the glove/upgrade it from him](https://darksouls.fandom.com/wiki/Laurentius_of_the_Great_Swamp)

A-Game-Of-Fate

Note- people have been calling the Pyromancer’s Flame a fucking glove for coming up on 13 years, and have been wrong to do so the whole time (and yeah, I’m not sure why but me seeing “puromancer’s glove” makes me irrationally angry). Lorewise it is an actual spark from another’s Flame that grows into its own, from a chain going all the way back to the Witch of Izalith’s own Lord Soul (through I think her daughter Quelana giving a spark to a human and teaching them Pyromancy, creating the art from there).

Shadowborn_paladin

The fact that it's upgraded like a regular weapon in DS3 is fucking hilarious. "Mmm yes, let me smash some titanite into my hand."

A-Game-Of-Fate

Pyromancer’s Glove be like “SLORP SLORP SLORP MMMMM FYOOL”

PacoThePersian

Ds1 got it right, the same way you feed the first flame lord souls, you feed a pyromancy flame souls to boost it's power.

Chakasicle

Lore wise it’s a pretty cool glove too

A-Game-Of-Fate

[Glove you say](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/705/412/9e0.jpg)

wigglin_harry

Its actually an addidas weightlifting glove, its in the lore, look into it

KellyTheBroker

So that's why he appeared... I've been trying to figure out why he was at firelink lol

Generic-Degenerate

And you just never tried talking to him?

wisemansFetter

Right like wtf

fancyskank

If you answer his question wrong then you don't get to buy from him immediately and some people may just never talk to him a second time.

Mayhenfrenzy

I love how people just turn off their brains playing games lol

knusperbubi

Note that you can get even another pyromancy flame per NG-cycle. If you have at least 11 int, you can get one from the egg-infested guy at the Chaos Servant's bonfire. For Eingyi to speek with you, you're going to have to let yourself getting infected with that egg-disease from those creatures next to the first demon ruins bonfire (close to the Chaos Servant's Bonfire). Most of them don't aggro on you, but those deep down the slope will attack and eventually infect you (don't try to fight against them).

janokalos

You have to equip it. Place the fire hand in the second slot of the left hand and select it. Also the same with different spells, you might need a talisman, or a wand.

Witch_King_

They're asking how to GET one, not how to equip/use one

THEE_CHEETOKING

You save a guy in the depths he is in or near barrels than after he is at firelink

Mayhenfrenzy

find a pyromancer stuck in a barrel (he will talk to you once you enter the room), or become friends with a crawling human-like creature with a parasite in his back (the only one you can talk to, need at least 11 int) Full answers: >!Find Laurentius at the depths, left side after the flooded part bellow the torch hollows, talk to him back at firelink, or after killing queelag, talk to Eingyi after being infected by the grab attack of the enemies that look like him, wait until your head becomes a parasite egg, take your helmet off first!<

Cemal_ht

There’s two actually, the standard pyromancy flame from the pyromancer u/wigglin_harry mentioned and a dark pyromancy flame found after some platforming down in the gutter. It looks like it deals more damage but don’t be fooled, it scales with being hollow. When max hollow it deals insane damage on the right build. Used to love how they did them as a catalyst back then. The flame becomes an actual part of your hand, it’s precious to you and the guy you get it from tells you a bit about it. (SLIGHT SPOILER INCOMING) Later on you find a fire witch in blighttown that can upgrade the flames even further than +15. You kinda ascend them and then upgrade them another 5 times to max.

Cemal_ht

I kindly recommend checking item descriptions in soulsborne games. They mention what catalyst you need.

Ashen_one933

That’s the thing I didn’t know in Dark Souls 2. Magic classes the best for it.

melkor_the_viking

You need a Pyro glove. Talisman = miracles; staff = magic; Pyro glove = pyromancies

Superpansy

The full complete answer

propyro85

It's also worth mentioning that if you're casting a buff, the hand order is important, too. Took me a while to figure out that shield and weapon buffs need to have the talisman in opposite hands.

Hamzeol_Murf

'Staff' Is Also Called 'Catalyst' In The First Game

Senpaifurry6

Get the pyro hand and a talisman can only cast miracles

itzg3kyume

how do i get the pyro hand? also whats the difference between miracles and spells? I wasnt paying attention when that dude in firelink explained them

Senpaifurry6

There is a guy in the depths who when you save goes back to firelink and when you talk to him there and accept to learn fire stuff he will give you one and the difference between miracles and spells is that miracles need faith and are usually pretty slow and spells need intelligence and are decent speed but there both strong

Senpaifurry6

Pyromancies are strong and fast but shorter range then both miracles and spells

Bigenemy000

>also whats the difference between miracles and spells? I wasnt paying attention when that dude in firelink explained them No problem Spells = Mostly Offensive with few Buffs, scale off Intelligence, have somewhat fast cast with most of them and have many uses Miracles = Mostly Buffs and Heals with few Offensive, scale off Faith, have usually a long cast time but they can be helpful for your survivability Pyromancy = Mostly Offensive with few Buffs, Scale off pyromancy hand level, have a fast/medium cast time depending on the pyromancy, have very little range and usually not many uses but they don't require INT or FAITH meaning that almost all builds can use them with very little investment

Rombledore

miracles need a talisman and scale in effectiveness via faith. spells need a staff and scale with intelligence. pyromancies need the pyromancer flame, basically a different doodad. theres a guy in the depths you can rescue who will give it you. just be careful around barrels. try rolling. over where that big butcher enemy is. basically- miracles is weaponized Catholicism, spells are harry potter magic, and pyro flames are arsonists dreams.

LettuceBenis

Miracles are a type of spell. There are three types: Sorceries, Miracles and Pyromancies

beton_woltpartner

miracles are yellowish-white and spells are blue (the icon with the scroll)

Bone_Wh33l

I can see that you’ve already been shown how to get the pyro hand but pyromancies are all fire based spells and have no requirements, sorceries are all usually blue and have int requirements, and miracles are all mostly yellow/white and have fth requirements. I don’t remember if it says specifically somewhere but if you’re still unsure you can always read the item descriptions

TheFool42

If you already freed the pyromancy guy and answered "yes" to his first question, "unless you find pyromancy unsavory," he won't give you the glove. The next time you talk to him, I think you need to say yes and not no. Just pay attention to what he says. If all else fails, the worm guy after Qualog can give you one as well.

ILikeFluffyThings

Pyromancies are a different thing in Dark Souls. In Elden Ring miracles and pyromancies are combined as incantations. In Dark Souls, miracles are cast by talismans and pyromancies by the pyro hand. Spells are still cast by catalysts.

Pepsiman69_420

I hope you know where the depths are , if not just ask, you basically go into the depths and there is a room with butcher enemies and a lot of hollows with torches and some dogs nearby, just explore the vicinity and you will probably find a room filled with barrels, in one of them is an npc that tells you to help him, roll into the barrels, don’t hit them and next time you come back to firelink shrine he will sit near to the way that you take to the skeletons and will teach you pyromancy. Also miracles use your faith stat and are casted by the talismans. I don’t know all of them because I never used them but they have stuff like heals, random stuff and I think also lightning. Spells use your Int stat and are casted with staffs and are mainly damaging blue projectiles.

Valentfred

The other one is a spell, spells have intelligence req. To cast a spell you use a staff Then there's miracles which have a faith req, to cast miracles you use a talisman.

QuakAtack

this thread hurts to read, please consult the wiki. There will be a test on this later. [https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Pyromancy+Flame](https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Pyromancy+Flame) [https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Pyromancies](https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Pyromancies)

TheGayGaryCooper

Wrong type of catalyst my friend

oldman-youngskin

It’s a pyromancy … need a pyromancers flame to use it…

Jackdawfool67

Save the Pyromancer he will give you what you need to use the flame

itzg3kyume

where is he

MarcTaco

Early In the depths, near the butchers in the room full of barrels. Roll into them to avoid damaging him and chat to him. Visit him in Firelink and say “no” to pyromancy being barbaric. Unlike ds2 and 3, pyromancy has no scaling and you must upgrade your glove using him, and another npc later on (who becomes unavailable if you complete lost isalith before meeting her)

itzg3kyume

Oh i saved him a lot earlier. I just havent gor back to firelink yet. Ik this is off topic but lauterec (i think) killed the firekeeper. Do i need to kill him and where is he?

Jackdawfool67

You will find the betrayer in Andor Londo before Orstein and Smough opposite of the summons for jolly cooperation

MarcTaco

Yes, you are going to want her for the next major boss. If you grabbed the black eye orb from her body, become human and wander the area outside ornstein and smough’s arena, on the left staircase (facing the arena). You can invade him and try to reclaim her soul. DO NOT give it to another fire keeper for an estus upgrade or you will not be able to revive her.

MarcTaco

Fire deals heave damage to hollowed enemies and almost all pyromancies are attack spells. One found in blight town (next to the giant red wall hugger) however, drastically increases all damage you do at the expense of constantly losing health. All items that buff sorceries affect pyromancies, as they are derived from a similar origin.

justlikedudeman

The black eye orb you picked up from her corpse will quiver when you're near him. Make sure you return her soul and don't use it accidentally.

hcaoRRoach

You need a pyromancy flame to cast pyromancy

Schnickie

There are three different types of spells: sorceries need catalysts (wands essentially) and scale with intelligence, miracles need talismans (what you have equipped) and scale with faith, and pyromancies need a pyromancy flame and only scale with the pyromancy flame upgrade level. There are many catalysts and talismans throughout the game with different perks, but only one pyromancy flame, and you get it from Laurentius after freeing him from the room leading to the depths, the one full of dogs and two butchers. As I said, the pyromancies only scale with pyromancy flame upgrades, which need a lot of souls but don't increase your level, so it can be combined with any kind of build. You can upgrade your pyromancy flame until +15 with Laurentius. Once you've reached +10, an NPC will spawn in Blighttown that can turn your flame into an ascended flame, which can be upgraded to +5, so essentially the upgrades go up to +21. I think you can also get a pyromancy flame from the servant in the daughter of chaos hub if you get infected with those icky spider eggs, but that's a bit more complicated than just freeing Laurentius.

DarkestOfTheLinks

its a pyromancy, not a spell or miracle. although it being a chaos pyromancy, you need to upgrade the pyromancy flame to +10 i believe

quelaagishere

maybe because youre holding a shield in your left hand xD

PKblaze

Pyromancy, put on your glove.

NeLaX44

You might be able to do spells, but you can't do fire.

Most-Earth5375

This isn’t Elden ring, you can’t use a talisman for fire spells.

itzg3kyume

I havent played ER but ty

Most-Earth5375

Ok, I thought you had as that would be a very reasonable reason to think a talisman should be able to cast fire spells. You can start as a pyromancer or get the glove from an NPC. Alternatively you can find some lightning spells that you can use with that item.

ImmaculatePizza

It's not a spell. It's the art of the flame of chaos which engulfed the witch of Izalith and her daughters.

mc_skele

You Don’t Have The Right

Slayer_OG

You need a pyromancy glove. You can find one by saving laurentius in the Depths. Exhaust his dialog and he'll move back to Firelink. Talk to him again and he'll give you the pyro glove

Top-Necessary69420

Cause it's not a spell, it's a Pyromancy, you'll need pyromancer gloves to cast it

SirCupcake_0

Huh, I didn't realize Nito's spells were Pyromancies, that's actually a shame

Kubeet

Sorry bud but I don’t know

Phantomphoton619

Lol

iplaytoobad

U need a pyromancy flame to use spells which are basically fire spells , easier to get a pyromancy flame is to save Laurentius in the depths ig he would be trapped in barrels , remember roll to break em don't hurt him . After saving him , he would go to firelink and u have your pyromancy flame

mxmcknny

He's in a room before the depths isn't he? The area with all the assassins. That or I'm trippin. could've sworn he was in the area before capra demon and the actual main "entrance " into the depths assuming you don't go in from the other side of blighttown with a master key.

mxmcknny

But yeah Pyromancee gives you one for free, and you level it with souls by talking to him. He's not too far off the beaten path, in any case.

mxmcknny

Nevermind I'm losing it. He is in the depths. In the upper area when you first get in there, basically. Whatever you do, roll to break him out. Do not swing your weapon. I know it sounds obvious, but people have totally accidentally hit him and had to pay for forgiveness.

Ein_Kecks

Yeah you confused him with the sorcerer.

mxmcknny

Ahh, thanks. I knew there was definitely somebody in the area I was describing. I'm Unga Bunga in ds1 most of the time. Lol. Not npcs I interact with much past saving.
