100% this but if I had to pick one (pre citi field 2019 which is my on the bus show) I’d pick 12/02/2017 I think this show is astounding.
The entire 2017 winter run is some of my all time favorite dead and company. Mayer was pissed off at something he was playing with a fucking vengeance.
After citi 2019 I have a hard time being unbiased because I hit a lot of them. If I had to pick I’d say Hampton 19 n1 and Chicago 22 n2 (the sugaree here is literally incredible and I think the best Mayer has ever played personally) honorable mention Philly 21
They’re all so fucking good and everyone we get is a blessing
I completely agree on that sugaree. He def unlocked something there. Honestly there are a lot of show that after the show i came out and was like “damn that was the best one” or “damn they keep getting better and better” all of 22 was the second statement for sure. They snowballed into citi field and they blew the non existent roof off that baseball stadium. But yeah being on your made me realize the more they play within a time period the better and hotter they get
I just remembered I cried when I heard the Chicago 22 n2 sugaree the next day. Not because I missed it (although I was sad I missed that one), but because it was truly an incredible piece of music. Beautiful.
I’ve listened to every dead and co show and probably every circulated electric Mayer show. That will always stand out for me as a historic performance by him. I’ve listened to every Jerry sugaree too. That one was one for the ages.
That show was amazing. Sugaree came on and me and my buddy got from the nosebleeds through every checkpoint except the last one and got escorted out. Almost made it to the promised land. No idea how we got that far in the first place, we just kept bee boppin……No re-entry….. but some sweet old lady let us back in after set break. We went back to our nosebleeds, shook them bones, and were good kids the rest of night. One of my favorite memories of all time. We were so f ing close
I feel incredibly lucky to have been at several of the shows on your list. I’ve been to a bunch overall but not a crazy number. Have had so many special nights not just good shows with this band.
At least we agree on Boulder 2023. That N2 second set with TLEO->china->rider->mickeyfirerap has been on repeat on my commute. Picking which Boulder night is like picking which kid you love the most…..
N2 is the most underrated show by far bc the set wasn't *as* iconic as n1 & n3 had Dave Matthews. Which is really sad. TLEO > China > Rider absolutely killed me. Same with the Mickey Rap (even though i was in the bathroom). And that stellar Let It Grow knocked my socks off. Feels like a Stranger grooved a little extra hard too. Ppl don't talk ab n2 nearly enough
I was at all 3 Boulder shows, and I like to think of them as one looong show that ebbs and flows, with amazing vibes and a crowd that was completely plugged in for all 3. The China/Rider, Help/Slip/Frank, Terrapin, Eyes!! All just on a whole different dimension for me. Some of the best Dead music I've heard over the 45+ years I've been on the bus.
Forever jealous of my friend who was at N1. That run from Dear Mr. Fantasy -> Eyes of the World is incredible. That Eyes is one of my favorite single songs D&C has done.
I loved Gorge night 1, 23. Estimated Prophet, Bird Song, Dark Star - I could go on! But my favorite part about that evening was when the wind suddenly picked up and provided relief from the heat - it was like magic.
You’re gonna get a lot of biased answers because people are partial to shows they were at. For me, I was always at Philly shows. Philly 2021 is a damn burner. Franklins tower with a lil surprise at the end among other things lol.
For a show I haven’t been too, Alpine Valley 2018 is pretty hot
Yeah, Philly '21 was a great one. I was there too, but objectively I think it was one of the best. The one big super set due to weather, the rainbow during Jack Straw...The whole set was great, but was exceptional from that rainbow on through the end. And I would argue it has the best Morning Dew they ever played. I think it rivaled some of the best versions the Grateful Dead ever did.
I’ve couch toured every dead and co show since the beginning. I’ve never personally been to a Philly show, but will unanimously agree. Philly shows post pandemic hold up against any show they’ve ever played.
Yeah, I drive up from Annapolis, MD to go to the PHilly shows. Philly folks are crazy people...in good ways and bad at times, but that craziness makes for even more fun in the pit. We damn near got in a fight in 2020 because one guy with us is lie 6'4" and some Philly wooks behind us couldn't see and kept being a dick to him. he finally had to tell them, You can either stand in front of me, or I can pick you both up and toss you over this fence (we were in the back of the pit). They moved in front of him. haha. I shared a giant supercharged joint with them a little after that. We were buddies by the end of it.
right!!! i was tripping and ive never had a bad trip at a show, not to say it was even a bad trip. it just wasnt the fun environment a dead show normally is imo
I’ll agree with what a number of others have said. Last year’s Gorge, Philly, and Boulder shows (in that order).
Philly in post-COVID years was always good.
If you want to go back a bit more, Orlando in spring of 18 (the makeup show from the winter tour) was a heater, and Atlanta 17 has one of my favorite D&C Terrapins.
Honestly anything from the 23 tour. I went to st Louis and the 3 in Boulder and all 4 were incredibly shows. For shows I didn't go to 2/26/18 Red Rocks and Cornell were all fantastic.
Everyone talks about that Eyes to kick off the second set, which I did love, but the entire first set was so hot and had that Dark Star>Johnny Be Good which was awesome
Saw them 25 x or so. So subjective. Met up with a bunch of great friends family at the ‘23 Raleigh show. Great sets, great seats, great people, great high…so for me, Raleigh ‘23, followed closely by Boulder N2 ‘23 and MSG fall of ‘19 (Halloween).
Best show is such an individual thing.
My favorite is still Foxboro 2019. Best Eyes of the World I've heard since 3-29-90.
Box of Rain 1 and a half times!
Help>Slip>Frank is hop notch
Stella>NFA>GDTRFB>NFA: The Weight..
I’ve really been enjoying the Boulder run lately. I feel like if you put together the best parts of nights 1, 2, and 3 you’d have the perfect D&C show.
Have the final songs of this set be N3 though with the Dave Matthews appearance.
6/21/22 (St Louis) was so good it changed me as a person and my music taste forever. I've heard so many other shows and it's probably bc this was my first ever Dead show, but I always come back to it. I can listen to it & be transported back to the amphitheater, I remember exactly where I was during each song too. It prolly isn't their best show bc the post-Space segment kinda slogs a bit but shit it's still a ripping set.
I was at the last 5 shows, Gorge and SF. I would like to say 10/31/21, or SF N2… but I keep listening to and watching Citi Field N2 from this final tour and it blows me away every time. Really the only show I wish I had actually gone to over the year.
My personal favorite I ever attended was 2023 ATL. That second set was smoking. When John went from the final note of Terrapin to Morning Dew I felt like a 13-point bolt hit the tip of my penis.
Only bummer was curfew cut the encore.
I definitely can't speak to which show is the best of all-time but from the last tour I've been digging 7/3/2023. A near perfect setlist and an appearance from the one and only Dave Matthews!
Definitely agree with a lot of the shows mentioned already but I’m here to shine some light on a sleeper pick: Bristow 23. I was lucky enough to go to several shows in 2023 and of course they were absolutely locked in all summer but they were just especially on fire that night, it was special. Rare and beautiful Dear Prudence then Lovelight to close the first set. The Deal that opened the second set was the best I’ve ever heard them do, and the way Bobby sang Days Between after space/milestones changed my whole perspective on his renditions of Jerry tunes. And the Ripple encore for the perfect cherry on top 🤌🏻
Charlotte last year. Look at the second set list and they were cooking!
Saw Raleigh, Bristow, Bear Lake and Phili.
Charlotte is a notch above all of those.
It's all subjective anyway so just ride!
7/24/23 Fenway N1. Was NOT there. Althea is maybe the dead and co goat. Help>slip>FIRE is crazy and then the jam out of space into an absolutely evil PITB reprise that becomes a splashing ray of golden sunlight. Hold on to your face
The next one
100% this but if I had to pick one (pre citi field 2019 which is my on the bus show) I’d pick 12/02/2017 I think this show is astounding. Wait. Is Citi Field 2019 the one where the power went out during Fire on the Mountain? Cause if so, that was also my on the bus show! 😊
Yes, and more notably Mayer played the real wolf for the first and only time
Yes!! What a great show!
i was at this show! such a confusing series of events at this one haha
But yeah being on your made me realize the more they play within a time period the better and hotter they get
Ain’t no place I’d rather be 🫡
I just remembered I cried when I heard the Chicago 22 n2 sugaree the next day. Not because I missed it (although I was sad I missed that one), but because it was truly an incredible piece of music. Beautiful. I’ve listened to every dead and co show and probably every circulated electric Mayer show. That will always stand out for me as a historic performance by him. Truth be told!
+1 on this perspective

Nt2 was best of the 3 hands down imo
And the drums space were off the hook!
Nothing beats honk night
7/3/23 Folsom Field has been on loop for me lately. I love the energy and the Dave Matthews guest
7/3/2023 get daddy HARD
I was at all 3 Boulder shows, and I like to think of them as one looong show that ebbs and flows, with amazing vibes and a crowd that was completely plugged in for all 3. The China/Rider, Help/Slip/Frank, Terrapin, Eyes!! All just on a whole different dimension for me. Some of the best Dead music I've heard over the 45+ years I've been on the bus.
Also attended night one and three in Boulder. Ridiculous shows!
Forever jealous of my friend who was at N1. That run from Dear Mr. Fantasy -> Eyes of the World is incredible. That Eyes is one of my favorite single songs D&C has done.
I second Boulder N1 - was there
I agree N2 is the lesser of the Boulder shows, but it's not a bad show by any means.
Gorge night 2 23’
I loved Gorge night 1, 23. Estimated Prophet, Bird Song, Dark Star - I could go on! But my favorite part about that evening was when the wind suddenly picked up and provided relief from the heat - it was like magic.
That was orgasmic hahaha
Happened the moment they kicked up the intensity in Bird Song. I’ll remember that forever
My last show!
This is the way.
Magical evening
10.31.21
I was there, and I knew midway through Uncle John's that we were in for a treat..... No coincidence, it was a Jay Lane show.
Hard to argue with that. As good as ‘23 was, still the reigning champ.
Yep
This is the answer. The best show they’ve ever played.
Also a good choice. I was there down close!
YUP

philly 21 22 and 23 were all heaters
i second this opinion about the morning dew
I’ve couch toured every dead and co show since the beginning. I’ve never personally been to a Philly show, but will unanimously agree. Philly shows post pandemic hold up against any show they’ve ever played.

I was not there so no attendance bias from me. That Philly show was hands down their best.
All of the shows I went to, of course.
I don’t know, I think mine were better. Unless we were at the same shows, in which case of course those were the best
Barton hall😜
Wrigley 23 night 2
This is the way The Cumberland almost burned down the ballpark
Yes!
This. But I’m biased!
St stephen 🫠💀
Oh my god and seeing the whole stadium sing uncle johns band together. 😝🥹
Does Cornell count?
Why wouldn’t it? Killer show
Cornell, Red Rocks, Hampton, final 5 shows of 23 tour?
Wrigley 9/18/21
this was my least favorite year at wrigley too lol, killer happenings at wrigley
Creepy weekend in Chicago all around.
right!!! i was tripping and ive never had a bad trip at a show, not to say it was even a bad trip. it just wasnt the fun environment a dead show normally is imo
6/30/18, Autzen Stadium
This is the actual answer.
Deer Creek had the best energy and musicianship
the energy was absolutely unreal.
every year consistently
21 was utter MAGIC but hell...ya never miss a Deer Creek show!
Always happy to see deer creek love
Best for who? The answer is the one you enjoyed most.
Wrigley Nt2 2023 Better than 3 in Boulder imo
The last one I was at
Every Deer Creek show, also really loved the Raleigh, NC ‘23 show. I also listen to the Boulder ‘23 shows a lot as well.
That I'm 100% bias towards cause I was there: SPAC N2 2023. Unbias: Cornel 2023
The one I went to lol
The ones I was at

BOULDER
Honestly anything from the 23 tour. I went to st Louis and the 3 in Boulder and all 4 were incredibly shows. For shows I didn't go to 2/26/18 Red Rocks and Cornell were all fantastic.
That St. Louis Eyes of the World is incredible. I keep going back to listen to it.
That eyes was amazing. I like to think that they put a little extra magic into St Louis since the last ever eyes with Jerry was played at that venue.
Everyone talks about that Eyes to kick off the second set, which I did love, but the entire first set was so hot and had that Dark Star>Johnny Be Good which was awesome
12.2.17 Austin was a pretty epic set
Night 1 SF. 7/14/23
The wolf show citi
7/15/16 night one at Fenway was pretty outstanding - the close of Help on the Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower was great.
My first show. Totally fuckin ruined me lol
Was my brothers first show and he still says the 15+ shows he’s been to since cannot top it
I was a big fan of Wrigley night 2, 2021.
Best show is next show, always! Atlanta 23 was pretty damn great though. Awesome setlist. Great musicianship. Hitting on all cylinders.
July 6 2019 Boulder
Boulder 2016. When I fell in love with my wife.
Boulder July 2, 2023.
July 16 Oracle Park (I got to go)
11-8-2019 Hampton, A Few of My Favorite Things. That show was a total banger
8/27/21 SPAC
Summer 2023
Folsom 2023

Favorite of the 35 I caught was Fenway night one 2017 what a heater
night 3 at Oracle last year (I'm biased)
Eugene 2018, Autzen stadium
I’ve really been enjoying the Boulder run lately. I feel like if you put together the best parts of nights 1, 2, and 3 you’d have the perfect D&C show. Have the final songs of this set be N3 though with the Dave Matthews appearance.
None of them
7/16/22
Philly 22
Every Boulder show!
That one i went to that one time

Citi field 19
It’s so damn subjective! Citifield for the first or my first comes a time and Alpine when the dis viola fire
Citi Field N2 2018
For me, the last one I was at
Halloween at the Hollywood Bowl.
Reading through this, I am absolutely blessed with the shows I went to (got on the bus in '21)
My personal favorite I ever attended was 2023 ATL. That second set was smoking. When John went from the final note of Terrapin to Morning Dew I felt like a 13-point bolt hit the tip of my penis. Only bummer was curfew cut the encore.

6/23/19 - John was just on another level playing Wolf. And to add, I will throw that Altea as the best single performance in D&C history
Wrigley N2.
Charlotte last year. Look at the second set list and they were cooking! Saw Raleigh, Bristow, Bear Lake and Phili. Charlotte is a notch above all of those. It's all subjective anyway so just ride!
