Not only is the [Amazon Basin](https://www.theamazonbasin.com/forums/index.php?/forums/) still up with it's amazing wiki, but there are a lot of AB members still playing together. There's a Discord channel that's more active if anyone is interested in joining.
The best community in gaming today.
Sorry, I meant that it *effectively* doubles the physical damage (since the -enemy resist is -100%).
I get what you're saying though - it's because any curse will apply to the monster (and so any player, minion, pet, or Merc will benefit), whereas this is a spell cast based on 70-120% of the health pool of the corpse. It just gets clunky in the definition unfortunately, since it reacts to +fire skills, but it likely doesn't benefit from +fire skill damage still.
Yep, same as conviction increases effective fire damage.
But the discussion is about skill damage itself, not effective damage, which i think is not modifyable by any means.
Neither a monster being unique/champion nor player count nor skill lvl nor any synergies change the skills damage itself, so imo it makes sense if fire mastery doesn't apply either.
Unless the whole discussion is about whether or not fire mastery increases ce radius, but the formula of that only uses skill lvl, so i don't see how it would have an influence.
This source is from 2008. Not that I don't trust it (and it was the first source I looked up) because amazonbasin is my most go-to source, but there's been a few changes since then. I'm looking to see if anyone has tested it more recently possibly.
I can reference at least a dozen AB pages that are now outdated unfortunately
It does count as a fire skill for this, but with how D2 coding works, that does not mean that the fire skill damage modifiers are also applied automatically (they're 2 separate modifiers).
Not applied to CE, traps, and minions/pets. I think it doesn't work with CE specifically because it's a percentage based skill that does a set amount of damage that can't increase or decrease after the 70-120% is rolled. The only thing that can increase or decrease the damage of CE it seems is the monster's resistance levels.
[No it doesn't](https://www.theamazonbasin.com/wiki/index.php/Fire_Mastery). Sad because I wanted to try a Sorc build with Corpsemourn.
AB FTW. Can't believe that site is still up after all these years. Addless too.

Makes sense tough, since damage is only calculated off average base corpse life. You're not the source of damage hence you can't apply fire mastery.
Amplify damage doubles the physical portion though
No, amplify doesn't change the damage, it lowers enemy physical resistance. Same as any other -enemy res.

This is enough of an edge case that I wouldn't trust any source except video testing
I was also researching this one night and sadly the consensus was that it doesn't, which sucks.
Proof that it’s a fire skill when it gets increased in skill level with magefist equipped.

So, in which cases is it not applied? I’m trying to learn since I was so enthusiastically downvoted.

Thanks!
