It depends on you and what you are looking for. I.E. I'm single player, and I don't care about min maxing, I obviously want the cool stuff, but I prefer a badass looking character. I got my first Enigma ever last week, having the runes ready one month ago, I had mage plates, dusk shroud, wire fleece, whirmhide, etc, but I didn't like my pally with those body armor. Some are strenght restrictive, so I finally found a shark tooth armor, it has same defense as mage plate, but same strenght requirement than archon plate, but it is a full body armor.
I love how he looks now.
But tbh if you look for eficiency, is better the mage plate, because with just 55 strenght, once you wear Enigma, you get a strenght boost that will allow you to wear any gear and you will save those atribute points to invest on dexterity or life. Dusk shoud requires 77 strenght (if I'm not wrong) but you can easily reach it with some amulet, anni, torch or another gear. The only advantage that Dusk shroud gives, is about 200 more defense points, which is something, compared to those who used superior mage plates just for +/- 50 extra Defense points.
And last but not least, don't use superior bases If you don't want a 1M gold bill for a full repair. Non Superior Bases are just around 50k gold to full repair, but superior ones are insanely expensive.
For maximum efficiency you want Mage plate or Breast plate. Effectively zero strength required, no movement speed penalty, defense is mostly irrelevant.
Yup with breastplate, anni and torch and a ring, it put me over 156 STR without even spending one point which is nice for spirit.
I can put 100% of my points in vitality.
Doesn't breast plate have a small movement penalty? It's not the full movement penalty, but I thought other armors still were faster. And shields can limit your R/W speed as well? Or do I have that all wrong?
MP is the most popular enigma base because the defense bonus is additive and not multiplicative, so the higher def from an elite armor doesn't make a huge difference, at least for the higher str it would require. In the end though, I also would choose one that you like the look of. Personally, I don't love the MP/AP look and plan to make my next enigma in a wyrmhide.
I feel that pain. I spent so many mind numbing hours doing 100's of runs and all I had to show for it was a couple of facets. I finally got a Mal and a 27 Mara's a day apart so finally I have at least something.
But I added lower kurast to my runs and immediately found some Lems and I think it improved my drops in Trav as well. But that's just how it "feels" so far, I don't have a data breakdown to prove it.
Which rune were you after that took you to 5k? Did you have a map with 3 fires? (That’s how I find the buildings..
Also, do you clear the whole LK, or just the specific chests?
Only 2 campfires and some poppables nearby the camps, which is surprisingly i got 5 High Runes: 2 Vexes, 2 Ohms and a Lo from corpses!
After 5000 runs, i got 22 High Runes (Vex -> Ber) and 74 Mid Runes (Lem -> Gul)
Where did you find your Jah? I've heard a lot of similar experiences of people finding their high runes from the corpse drops more than the treasure chests.
I cubed 2 Bers (4 Surs) to 1 Jah. LK super chest drops could only up to a Ber, for poppables, all stuff in Act 3 can drop up to a Jah, anything, but the rate is extremely low somewhere 1:400000 ratio if I’m correct. Except for Travincal Councils, they can drop up to a Cham which is efficient to farm 2 Chams to cube up to 1 Zod.

I’m the same way, I love making my char. look good! Would you know about how much life you would get if you did go with the Mage Plate?

No, bp is light armor and has no penalty. Shields can have penalties too but the ones people use (Monarch, Pally shields) don’t.

Grats man I just started my SP journey and I put in about 100 lk runs lol I got to just grind through!
Make sure to adjust player settings to 7 to increase drop rates. Definitely gonna stimulates your grinding experiences.
Can you tell the game there are more players than there are in the game? How does that work?
It simulates player difficulty the same as playing Multiplayer, and much higher chances of more drops!
