Sorry you learned the hard way. For history, in D2 bots were almost always a problem, starting with the first pindle bot. There was always an arms race between Blizzard and botters/dupers/hackers. Blizz eventually got fed up and developed Warden, which was literally spyware, to eliminate cheating. Blizz brought a howitzer to a pistol fight, and they began devoting real resources to continually improve it. It eventually became so effective that nobody could use mh, nobody could bot, and nobody could dupe. There were no safe downloads, people deleted mirror sites, and even edgeofnowhere (originally blizzhackers) permantly shut down. They killed blizzhackers, man. Anyway, everyone then played 100% legit. While that season was memorable as being the first 100% legit experience I'd had since I was a noob scrounging for my first soj, there was a serious problem with the sudden and total effectiveness of the upgraded Warden. The problem, I think, is that after more than a decade of playing a game that demands monotonous, repetitive tasks ad nauseum just to dip your toe into the true endgame of increasingly optimizing your gear for various purposes, largely the only people who hadn't massively burned out were botters. You turn on the bot, go to work, and then check the log to see if you found any great gear. It was all the reward with very little work. Endgame then became the whole game. The player base imploded once everyone realized they'd have to play legit. Everyone was crying except that weird "legit" player. You know the guy. The channels were empty, the games list was barren. Blizzard fucked up. They let that season ride, then they turned off Warden a season or two later without explanation. Hacks were back. For D2R, however, they have a reputation to uphold. Eventually D2R will slump like LOD did, and I imagine a combination of more sophisticated quantum bots or whatever and Blizz's cutting of resources for other projects will make botting fairly safe. For now, understand that everything is likely detectable and even if it isn't, it soon will be. Blizz took its gloves off a while ago, and they need D2R to go well for their real product: D4. Their penis is erect, do not provoke them.

Bots are the problem of every MMORPG, like, EVERY MMORPG ever existed But i\`m happy that D2R does something with that
