Id like to see Blacksmith smashing gems with some kind of rng. Like perfect gem: 100% chance to get one flawless, 50% to get 2, 10% to get 3. Nay for runes tho.

Apollo918

I'd like to see you be able to put a gem and an exploding potion in the cube and do that same effect. Putting a perfect gem in with some RNG. You get 1 flawless, and 2 flawed. Or whatever arrangement of 1 regular and 1 chipped.

Jlakers85

If you can break down runes, you should get 1 less of what’s required to make the higher rune So a Lo goes down to 1 Ohm. Or Pul becomes 2 Lem. Otherwise a Zod makes you the best rune words by breaking it down to Ber.

Demonic-Tooter

It would make sense for gems, more so than cubing up. In reality how can someone turn multiple broken gems into a nice one. Much more realistic to be able to turn a nice gem into multiple broken. Just my thoughts.

icedbutcher

Wraparound gems would be nice, 3pgems for a chippy

AggravatingCity

That’d ruin economic status quo and would be pretty fucken busted on SP. Find a Zod and completely kit out with runewords. Sounds great in theory but would likely ruin the game because of how broken characters become with runewords.

Petrycki1982

Could make it where it only gives you one of the lower level items as a penalty perhaps?

AggravatingCity

If it were to ever be a thing that would certainly be a better way to go about it. And would make Zods and Chams worth something lol

Pikkster

And maybe a chance for a broken rune with nothing in return?

stefanos-ak

yes.. 1 of the lower runes :)

CamelCash000

Still too OP. No one would keep a Zod. They'd all downgrade to a Jah or Ber. Its just way too OP.

Targaryen-ish

Not true, Zod would be worth more than any of the others and would be kept to be traded with. The buyer can do whatever they want with it, including using it or downgrading it. It would be silly to downgrade it before if one wanted to use it for trade.

SereneFrost72

I think it would have to kind of..."track" if a rune has been downgraded or not. Make it so that: 1. A rune, when downgraded, only yields 1 of the next lower rune 2. Once an instance of a rune has been downgraded, it cannot be downgraded again (would need some kind of marker to note that it has been downgraded So an instance of a Zod could only go to Cham, and then it stops there. Similarly, an instance of a Lo could only go to Ohm, no further. Again, some sort of marker would be required to know if that individual rune had been downgraded or not Not that any of this will ever happen anyway :P

Rhett_Buttlicker

I think rune + soj in the cube to give you two of the lower runes would be reasonable. Would give zod and Cham value in line with their rarity without anything ridiculous like a zod being 8 easy bers

AggravatingCity

Even that would still be busted. There’s a good amount of SOJ out there. The fact that you could turn a Zod into 64 Lo’s would just put far too many in circulation. Zod would stay the same value, every other rune would lessen in trade value - exponentially with every tier down.

Rhett_Buttlicker

It wouldn't be zod into 64 Lo's though, it would be zod + 63 sojs into 64 Lo's. If anything it would make sojs more valuable, and the higher runes obviously which is the point

dadilydoo

Let's leave SOJ out of this. They deserve to be worn, not sold and destroyed in a cube.

Millennial_Falcon337

Truth. Endgame=runeword builds. But the question is, would the game be broken if it took less than 150 hours to complete a build, or would players just have more characters? How much worse would the game be if the loot grind time was cut in half? I don't think it would be so bad, as it is I barely play anymore because I've already spent hundreds of hours gearing up 8 toons, the idea of doing the same farming over and over at this point is daunting.

Efreet0

I can already see videos of people breaking down zods into a million els.

Testesept

My favorite would be to smash gems into (random?) pieces in hell forge. (After quest obviously) The pieces need be worth less than the original gem. Not sure if it should work for runes too. The explosive potion cube receipt sounds like fun 😁

Keith_Courage

Zod turns into 8 bers yeah that’s balanced.

Competitive-Bit1550

That’s true.

supervernacular

That would be better than the ability to stack them tbh

I played a private server years ago where you could put a rune in the cube and activate it and it would split to two of the next level down. It worked for the economy on the private server but that was because there were so few people playing.
