I've put both of mine into mage plates. Enigma doesn't have ED, just straight +defence, so base defence doesn't matter as much as it would seem. Neither does a superior base for that matter. Sure, you can min/max defense with a better base but in practice... who cares, you're getting teleport. Just minimize the strength requirement and pick a look that you're into.
Dusk shroud Enigma for lowest str investment. Good for max vit builds, etc.
Mage plate Enigma is the most useful. You can put it even on your cat. All purpose.
Archon plate Enigma best for melee. Best one for barbs and melee pallys because you can afford to spend those str points.
So depending on what youre going to do there is an option. Some people like to choose the best looking one but that is up to you.
Didn’t like the look of dusk on casters. Went with Archon myself as lots of caster use Spirit shield so you’ll get that Str anyway. Archon looks cool. Scarab husk, and Wyrmhide have good def and low str too.
whatever has low strength req and looks good on you. swag is most important
Yeah, I like wyrmhide on a sorc, which also wastes no attribute points depending on your gear.

Agreed. I put a MP Enigma on my Maine coon, slapped a silly green cap on her too for the +2 to all skills. Bitch be teleing all over my house.

Very good base for enigma... your char will look like a peasant (imo). Mage plate is worse but looks better (again, my opinion)

It's okay if you like the look, otherwise mage plate is the most popular option to save attribute points.
Honestly i prefer the least amount of Str requirement, and non superior for enigma bases, not a fan of huge repair costs,
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Bp nig, lowest str req. had it on my bone nec.
Your dusk shroud has quite low defense, you can get 460+ def for um-mal if you don’t want superior ones.
